Star Wars Universe / Re: Lucas NY Times Interview
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:23 AM »
Lucas can tinker with his movies all he wants.  I'll watch my bootleg DVDs and Star Wars: Revisited.  He just won't get my money anymore aside from some books, a few action figures (if I can ever find the few I would like), andthe occasional video game (although not TOR, unfortunately).

I will never see a new Indiana Jones movie (and will not own more thanthe original three), and when technology gets better, I'm sure I'll be able to get the good versions of the Star Wars movies on Blu Ray.

It's a shame that Lucas can't act like a grown up.  He's throwing a temper tantrum because the people who are fans of his stories are also fans of good screen plays and direction.  George Lucas can write a good overall story, but he cannot effectively write a good screen play or direct.  If I were ever to meet him, I'd tell him that.

It's a shame that George Lucas doesn't have the ability to take criticism, and instead has decided to surround himself with yes men who cannot save him from himself.  It would have dramatically improved the prequels which had great actors who gave pitiful performances, and it would've saved the movies from the childish flatulence jokes and may have actually made Jar Jar Binks a tolerable character.

I've pretty much given up on seeing these in a store.  I know some here have much better luck so if someone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The Packer offensive line did a decent job at holding back the Giants yesterday...for a while.  The Giants played a great game and minimized mistakes.  They are playing great football right now, but so are the 49'ers.  It's going to be a great game!

It's going to be a great game.  I have hope for the Giants since their regular season match up could have gone either way, and the Giants are playing much better now.

The Giants just beat out a great Packer team and some of the worst officiating I've seen in an NFL game!

Perhaps the other character figures are just scaled too tall?   :D

I'm kinda glad they didn't do that.

Managed to get five minutes and make the switch.  It's a definite improvement!

Thanks Jesse.  If you look at my collection pics, it's going to be a bit of a project for me to clear out all the figures to take it out.

Basically, everything is a project with Colin around!   :D

Received this set today.  Really nice and detailed....now I'm trying to incorporate the throne into my diorama.

I'm wondering if the cardboard throne of the diorama set can be flattened or removed without destroying the structural integrity of the rest of the set.

This week is going to be interesting.  I don't think any team can be counted out at this point.  The Broncos can win as long as they don't have a disastrous second quarter like they did the last time against the Pats.  The Packers only beat the Giants by a field goal last time, and not the Giants Defense is healthy and they are clicking.  The Saints look good, but they have a bad habit of not playing all that great on the West coast and outside...bit of a double whammy for them in San Fransisco.

Houston looked really good against the Bengals, I don't know if they can get past the Ravens, but if I were putting money on the game, I'd probably go with Houston and the points if the spread's more than 7 points.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: JD Book Club: What Are You Reading Now?
« on: January 7, 2012, 12:34 AM »
I'm reading Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard.  I'm only about 10 chapters in, and they are covering the end of the Civil War.  I've read some about some of the major battles but the way they are able to put you into the last retreat of Genral Lee's Northern Virginia army as they try to escape to North Carolina is amazing!

Definitely worth a read.

Finished season one yesterday. Loved it. Now it sucks I have no way of watching season 2. What to do? What to do? I did squash the urge to purchase any of the toys though. So that's good.

Though the urge to stop at Half Price Books and see if they have any of the graphic novels is still there.

You can find some of them on the cheap at places like Barnes and Noble.  I snagged about 2/3 of the graphic novels there, marked down to about $6-7 each.  I caught up on the whole series this way, but have switched over to individual issues as I cannot wait 6-7 months between stories.

I'm in the same boat on S2 since we don't get the AMC Channel - wish there was some way to watch the episodes online.  Come on AMC.

One of the airmen in my squadron watches the episodes online, but I'm not sure what site it is.  I'll ask him and get back to you.

The series started a bit slow, but it has really gotten good with one book left.

That's why it's so fun to watch.  Just knowing George Lucas would smash that copy with a hammer if he could.
