Although we may see a new, larger AT-AT.  It will still be horribly underscaled.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Latest vintage acquisition
« on: January 7, 2009, 07:32 PM »
Not exactly a new acqusition, but UPS finally delivered all my vintage playsets/vehicles from my parents' house!  The collection includes:

-Death Star Playset
-Land of the Jawas playset (Base and Escape Pod)
-Rebel Command Center Playset Base
-Dagobah Playset
-Turret and Probot Playset
-Droid Factory
-AT-AT
-Snowspeeder
-Landspeeder
-Speeder Bike
-Imperial Cruiser (Imperial Troop transport minus the electronics)
-CAP-2
-MTV-7
-Tauntaun
-AST-5
-Vehicle Maintenance Energizer
-Darth Vader's TIE Fighter

There's also a few old manuals, a sticker sheet for the snowspeeder and a bunch of ESB and ROTJ figure cards.  Most of this isn't in the best of shape (lots of dust from the basement, bad stickers and deteriorated foam), but they should look pretty damn good once cleaned up a bit.  Although well played with, I took very good care of my toys as a kid.

I'll have to have my parents look around for some of the cardboard backs for the Land of the Jawas and Rebel Command Center playsets...they were not with the bulk of my stuff.  There's also the Sears exclusive Cloud City playset somewhere...but that may have been thrown out since it was made out of cardboard.

I never expected the Front Page to be updated daily, but after reading this thread, I was wondering how things like Toy Fair or San Diego Comic Con would be covered in the future...if at all.

Welcome to our merry band of rogues.   :D

What Star Wars items are you focusing you collection on?  Vintage? Modern items? Jedi? Sith? Any specific character?

The Vintage Collection / Re: Willrow Hood
« on: January 6, 2009, 07:31 PM »
Agreed that Willrow should be one per case.  I also expect him to warm, but on the bright side, Yarna was sitting quite a bit but is long gone now following the Christmas rush.  Lots of kids must have got six boobied hideous action figures for gifts.

I wonder if I could make Willrow the last SW action figure I buy?

You should come down to Colorado Springs Brent...Yarna is Legacy's Moff Jerjerrod here.

What about the Twilight?  Based on the projected 4 to 5 seasons of the show, its probably going to get a lot of screen time, I could see them releasing one of these.  It'd probably have to be in the $50-$75 price range.  I'd expect a cockpit for 2-4 figures, plus the docking bay at the back, and maybe a speeder that pops out the bottom or something.  I think this would sell a lot better to the kiddies than either the Sandcrawler or Jabba's sailbarge.

I didn't count the Twilight since I was focusing on Legacy vehicles not Clone Wars.  But then the AT-TE is a CLone Wars collection item so my bad on that.

I still don't think you'll see a sailbarge....you cannot compare Jabba's Sail Barge popularity and recognition to the Millenium Falcon's.  Sorry guys.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Guitar Hero / Rock Band
« on: January 6, 2009, 01:37 AM »
Nick,

Best Buy has had instruments for a while...I purchased a keyboard from them about 6 years ago...long before Guitar Hero was popular.

I received Rock Band 2 as an early birthday present today since it was a day off.  What a fun game!   :D

I've played drums for years, but it was fun playing the guitar!

I just really don't get Sci-Fi's reasoning behind cancelling this series.  Other than Sanctuary and Eureka they're really not leaving themselves with much.

   E...

I think that's a little more accurate...with 10 weeks of BSG thrown in.  :D

I did not see too many Vikings games this year, but I can't believe how bad Childress is with clock management.  I have a similar gripe with the Giants at times, but they are freaking clock management experts compared to Childress!

Glad to finally see a new episode (although there's only one left  >:() and it was a good one!

They've done a lot of alternate reality episodes, so I can't remember when they actually had contact with this particular one.   :-\

Brent, do you use block-heaters in your cars in the winter?  I used them in Alaska and I know some people in North Dakota used them from time to time, but I don't know if it's consistently cold enough in your part of Canada for them.

I know what you mean Brent.  When we moved in a year ago, I had all my stuff in large rubbermaid totes (about two dozen total) and they were stacked floor to ceiling in my office/collection room.  I had planned on putting all my carded figures on the wall along with a few shelves to display loose figures/vehicles but that idea got tossed when I wallpapered the place with figures and wasn't done!   ::)

I changed focus and bought 6 bracketless shelves from Lowes to display some ships (TIE fighters and the Imperial Shuttle ended up there) and some battle scenes on and a couple of organizers which I decided to display a number of my vehicles in (mainly Jedi Starfighters and a few others...one set of organizers was designed to fit in the corner which I filled with loose figures, clones, sandtroopers, wookies etc).

I then purchased two TV tables which I put back-to-back and made the top look like a Rebel Hangar scene with all my rebel fighters (minus the snow speeders) and the BMF Falcon.  The shelves are filled with various figures (Jedi, Sith, Politicians, a rogues gallery (basically all the aliens that didn't fit into my Jabba's Palace dio), a medical set-up where half is the Luke in Bacta tank scene and the other is the rebuilding of Vader scene, and an EU/concept shelf where I have my concept vehicles and a few random things that don't fit anywhere else).

Even with this new set-up I ended up putting my Star Wars Weekends beanies and LE/SE Sabers in another room!  I'm sure I could've done it a different way, but I like what I have so far...and I'm not quite done yet.   ;)
