Congrats to the Twins fans in the audience.  What fun it is to be a Royals fan and watch two opposing teams clinch playoff berths on consecutive nights.  :)  While I'm bummed the White Sox didn't make it, it is nice to see the Tigers make such a turn from two years ago and to see the Twins' resurgence from their early record.  At this point I'm rooting for the Twins and Cards in the World Series (though no one knows what the hell is going to happen in the NL yet).

I see the bottom of your SNES is as discolored as mine.  Kinda wierd that that seems to happen to them.

Yeah, I see that a lot on the SNES.  I've even controllers that are half-discolored.  Kind of odd that it wouldn't be all the way around if it's on one half.

My NES system is touchy.  What am I saying...it's a pain in the ass.  I usually have the clean the game each time I play it.  It drives my daughter crazy that she can't just pop in a game and play it without me having to give it a cleaning first.  I'd love to get the more reliable top-loader, but I'm not ready to shell out $80-100 for one.

I had another great day at a flea market yesterday.  I scored:

A complete N64
Mario Kart for the N64
Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart and Mario All Stars for the SNES
Dr. Mario, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Life Force, Ghosts & Goblins, Ghostbusters, Goonies II, Blades of Steel, Commando, Faxanadu, R.C. Pro Am for the NES

$45 for all of it.  I could have picked up a slew of $1-2 games for the NES but elected to hold off.  I do regret not picking up NES Metroid for $5 though.  Dummy.

Here's a quick pic of my little setup.  Not bad for a month's work and for less than $100 on all the systems and games.  :)

I've been buying some NES stuff lately...man, it's so fun to play the real thing over playing emulators.  I found a system at a flea market around a month ago along with an Atari 2600 and some games for $30.  Since then I've found a lot of good games at garage sales and flea markets.  Right now I'm playing Zelda start to finish...it's amazing how many of the hidden secrets I have retained after all these years.  :)  Then again it's amazing how many I've forgotten...

I also found a SNES complete with the box for $20 last weekend.  I've only picked up a couple of games for my daughter (she loves the old games as much as I do), but I'm itching to pick up Zelda and Metroid for that system.  Super Metroid remains an all-time favorite of mine.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Most hours you've worked in a week...
« on: August 8, 2006, 01:01 AM »
I worked two full time jobs at one point from May 1996 through January 1997.  One was generally 42-45 while the other was 40.  Just about drove me insane.  Most weekdays I'd go to work at 5:30 in the morning, leave at 2:30, go home, change, rest for a little bit, then go to work from 4:00-11:00 or 12:00. I usually had one day off at the night job and would generally leave at 8:00 on Fridays.  Then I'd work 10am-8pm on Saturdays and 4pm-12pm on Sundays.  The paychecks seemed nice at the time, but considering I was making $6.60-$7.50 an hour at each it's absolutely crazy in retrospect.

I worked 50-55 hours a week for 16 months at a ****** car rental joint, which also took its toll.

Now, I work 37.5 hours per week, rarely work a minute more than that, and make more money than any other job I've had.  Life is good.  :)

I sure hope the Twins pull the trigger on a Soriano deal, that would be sooo friggin sweet and soooo out of character of the conservatism they have shown the past 15 years.

Oh well, at least we dumped Lohse...   :P

I feel the same about Affeldt.  :)  I'm kind of bummed about Stairs.  Even though he's a bit old he's still a decent hitter and a good guy to have around for the sake of the younger guys.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Do You Tip?

I used to tip even better for delivery, especially in crappy weather.  The guy's allowing me to sit on my ass and bringing dinner to me, so I'd generally give 20-25%.  But now that most places charge an extra $1-1.50 for delivery I tend to tip a little less.
