Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Do you post on a regular basis???
« on: January 23, 2003, 07:36 PM »
Here here!  Couldn't have said it better myself Zam!  Thanks for the pep talk, and I hope your message hits home with those that haven't found (or had) the time to stop by and share their thoughts with everyone.  We'd love to hear from you "lurkers" and less frequent posters out there.

Come on in and let us know what you think about any or all things Star Wars, or otherwise.  We won't bite.  Well...at least not real hard anyways...   :)

And to answer your question, yes - I do post on a pretty regular basis.   ;)

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: Forum Ranks
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:59 PM »
I just have to get back to Council Member.  :)
Sorry, now Senior Council Member.
What's the difference between a Senior Council Member, and the other Jedi Council Members?  There's only 12 Jedi Council Members altogether, so I think just plain ol' Jedi Council Member should suffice, especially since we've now created a ranking for the most senior of all the Jedi Council Members - Yoda.

Now if Dale (DSJ) would just hurry up a little and attain that Yoda status, we could have him duel that evil Emperor running loose over at RS...   ;D

Saga '02-'04 / Re:New Anakin, Boba Fett and R2 Pics
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:35 PM »
I just noticed the DRASTIC difference in the rocket on Boba Fett's jet packs, between Hasbro's published picture and the new loose ones.  You know what that means.  We're in trouble...   >:(

Yep, "pinched head" Dooku, for sure Scott!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: FAO Shuttle!!!
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:26 PM »
Same news here on my end.  But now there's word that the Shuttle may be appearing through other sales channels as well, beside just FAO.  Very interesting...  There's been word of it hitting the Once Upon a Toy store in Orlando (for only $100), and it appears that the French Fan Club may be selling them as well.  Who knows if the floodgates might be opened soon on this thing...

I'm going to Disneyland and the Star Traders shop this weekend (to hook Chris, Dale, and Mike up w/ ST droids), so I'll be sure to check around for the Shuttle (or any news on it) while I'm there.  If they've got one for a measely C-note, I'll definitely pick it up there and tell FAO to kiss my...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Anakin, Boba Fett, Ofee, Dooku & R2 Pics
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:16 PM »
Cool, thanks for the tip Scott!  Hmm...  A few observations here:

- Anakin:  Apparently doesn't come with a "regular" arm/hand after all - just the robotic one.  Cool touch to have the cloack removable, but it looks pretty crappy with the two big strands hanging over the front like that.

- Barriss Offee:  Her entire cloak is removable!  I had no idea this would be the case, but it's a nice option to achieve a different look for her if desired.  I prefer it on though.  Hate that dang silver magnet in her hand though.  Why not just paint the magnet a flesh color?!

- Boba Fett: The fire base is indeed removable.  Abnormally skinny legs...  The jet pack "rocket" at the top is rather oddly shaped, and might actually be a button to trigger the oft-rumored "quick draw" action feature (oh dear).  Very colorful...

- Darth Tyrannus:  Looks decent, but again with the ugly silver hand magnet.

- Flying R2-D2:  Retractable 3rd leg.  Looks like R2's "thingee" should hopefully be staying hidden within his body and serve as a "stopper" when the more authentic magnetic grappling hook on the other end (to tow 3-PO's head) is used.  Unless it serves another purpose...?  The cord (string) scrolls around a peg on his back, so best keep him facing forward.  Dare I comment on the new head?  Just a dome with some details painted on.  Not good.  Might just use this figure as a fishing lure...

I'll have to wait to get these in hand before I pass final judgement on them, but overall this wave isn't terribly exciting to me.  Barriss looks nice and the Boba Fett might have some potential, but the other three do nothing for me.  We'll see...

Collect All 92! / Re: Vintage Figures Which Have Not Been Updated
« on: January 23, 2003, 03:12 PM »
I'd like them all, but the three at the top of my list would be:

  • Imperial Dignitary
  • General Madine
  • Cloud Car Pilot
...just because they're the only ones that have had no other modern era figures made that even remotely resemble them.  I'm fairly confident that we'll be seeing these three from Hasbro at some point down the line though, so I'm not too worried.  Just gotta be patient...

Well, Hermi's pretty cool and would fit nicely alongside Amanaman and Ephant Mon, but he'd only be my second choice...

My vote went to that gorgeous 6 breasted hottie - Yarna d'al' Gargan!  I've wanted to get her in 4" figure form ever since I saw a picture of the unfinished prototype of her unproduced Vintage figure long ago:

LEGO / Re: Anyone Get Stuff From The 2003 Line Yet?
« on: January 23, 2003, 07:24 AM »
I picked up all 3 Jabba's Palace sets, the Tie Bomber, the T-16 Skyhopper, and all 4 mini-line sets - basically everything from the O.T., but no Prequel Legos for me.

Plenty of AT-TE's around here Chris, if you want me to throw one in with the ST figures that I hope to finish off this weekend for ya'.  Just LMK...

Saga '02-'04 / Next Jabba's Palace figure: Poll results are in!
« on: January 23, 2003, 06:52 AM »
We've got a new (now archived) poll up on the JediDefender main page:
Which Jabba's Palace denizen would you like to see made into a figure next?
UPDATED:  Now with the final poll results!

Since there's several pretty obscure characters in there that you may not be familiar with solely by name, we thought we'd help you all out with a visual reference guide here:

  • J'Quille  (Whipid spy)  8 votes (7.6%) - last place

  • BG-J38  (Maintenance Droid & champion holochess player)  9 votes (8.5%) - 6th place

  • Yarna d'al' Gargan  (Jabba's FAT dancer)  18 votes (17.1%) - 2nd place

  • Sergeant Doallyn  (Chewie tosses this poor fella against the wall)  16 votes (16.2%) - 3rd place (way to go Brad!  ;))

  • Hermi Odle  (Jabba's slob of a henchman)  29 votes (27.6%) - THE WINNER!

  • Rappertunie  (Rebo Band's harmonica player)  13 votes (12.3%) - 4th place

  • Klaatu (Palace version)  12 votes (11.4%) - 5th place
Now that you're more familiar with your Palace figure candidates, swing back over to our main page and perform your civic duty by casting your vote for who you think Hasbro should turn into a 4" hunk of plastic next!

So...what are you waiting for?  Go vote now!   ;D

Newbies / Re: New to this forum
« on: January 23, 2003, 04:35 AM »
Welcome to JediDefender, francois_fett!  You should swing by the Newbies thread, and introduce yourself to the rest of the gang, and tell us a little about yourself, and your interest in Star Wars and collecting.  Glad to have you here...

Hey Koda -
Cool collection pictures!  You should slap a link to your site over in our Collections forum.  Those pictures of your excellent custom Gunship turrets at your site finally jarred my memory as to why your name sounded so familiar - because I remember dropping you a note in your thread at RS to compliment you on those a while back!  Nice work!  You should showcase those again over in our Customs forum as well!

Keep it up, and we look forward to seeing more collection pictures and customs from you in the future!   :)

P.S.  Please give me a hollar if you ever want to part with one of those nifty Action Fleet Tie Defenders...   ;)

Vintage Kenner / Re: New pursuits
« on: January 21, 2003, 03:23 PM »
First, I need to polish off the loose Yakface and Luke Stormtrooper that have been keeping my loose Vintage collection from being complete for over a decade now.

Once that's done, I'm going to move on to the overwhelming task of going after a complete carded collection.  My goal is to get each figure on it's premiere card back, with no "offers".  I anticipate this being extremely expensive, time consuming, and challenging, to say the least.  But it should be fun...

7724
The fellas over at Yakface's Realm have posted the first pictures of the next 4 vehicles - in all new packaging!  They've got the Gunship, Spider Droid, and Anakin's and Zam's Speeders.  Very packaging friendly now as far as actual product visibility (100%), likely to persuade many people to not even open them up.  But where's the fun in that?   ;)

They look good, but I still haven't changed my mind as far as collecting the Prequel ships though...

Power of the Jedi / Re: °*° Star Tours *°*
« on: January 21, 2003, 02:25 PM »
I got the first 2 waves of Star Tours figures through Disney Direct.  A word of caution to the MOMC crowd...their shipping quality is terrible!
Most definitely!  I got my first two ST droids from Disney Delivers, and they were THRASHED when they arrived.  They just threw the 6 figures (yes, 3 of each) in a box, with one plastic Disney bag as packaging material.  Worst packing job I've ever seen!

I'm guessing the R5-D4 will be tailored from the one in the ST line, rather than the one we see in ANH (unfortunately).  Hopefully Hasbro will still put another new (ANH) R5-D4 out on the market in the near future though, especially since he's the only variety of astromech droid that we haven't been able to pick up recently to customize for our astromech armies.
