Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: New Poll?
« on: January 19, 2006, 09:49 AM »
How about a new poll regarding everyone's opinion on the rumor of chase figures?

If you compare various pictures of Cody (EE, Lee's,) you can see his arms in different positions and various close up photos clearly show that his elbows are ball joints.

Sorry Broem, I've heard !11.99 as well. :'(

At least there's only 5 of 'em.

Still, people need to band together with local collectors, team up and get those sets if you want the exclusive...  I know I do, as odd as it is, but if these turn out hard to find it'll be a mess no matter what it is...  Packaging for (*gulp*) figures, that are the real "bounty hunt" item.

Too ture, but I'd still like to send a message to Hasbro and/or the retailers a message that we're not happy about chase figures (well, at least I'm not :-X ,) and the only way to do that is to hit the bottom line. Getting 'em despite that fact just says that we're little puppies who will run after any bone. :P

I don't think that Rebelscum as an entity has started supporting scalping or something.  I think there are a lot of people there (myself included) that still believe in "Collect to Collect".

The problem isn't with the philosophy.  It's simply that they don't have enough good moderators left to shut down every instance of scalping that pops up there. I still report posts when I see them, and I have a feeling if everyone else did too.....those people that think it's ok to do that would eventually get the hint and leave.

I specifically started two threads in the feedback section regarding RS's policy on scalping in both the collector threads and the classifieds. Both threads were never addressed by the administration. They weren't even locked. Since most issues are dealt with swiftly and decisively, I think this says alot.

I think it says that, on the surface, Collect to Collect is something that they believe in and suport. However, the scalping issue has become so insurmountable, and so common, that they are either too overwhelmed by it or too afraid to openly condem it for fear of loosing too many members.

All in all, Josh, you hit it on the head, it'a all in the moderators. I have never, ever seen one moderator step in a specifically say that scalping talk is frowned upon, and when I report scalping talk, I never see the issue addressed. I think that says a lot about the moderators as well. That said, I'm sure an increase in scalping outrage would cause a policy change, but given the current climate, I don't think there's nearly enough support from the community. :(

Toy Reviews / Re: General Veers

Good and thoughtfull review. I would agree, overall 4 out of 5. Allow me to give alternate views on the sub catagories.

Sculpt, I would say 4 out of 5. I give negative points for his wide arm scultp. It detracts from allowing him to have his arms down by his sides. I like the actors likeless though.

Articulation 4 out of 5. It's prefect for the figure, but an additionl set of ball joints would have been great.

Accessories 4 out of 5. The lack of back armor really detracts from the figure.

Paint 5 out of 5. I can't see any real flaws. :P

I'm kind of embarrased to mention this, but because of this thread, which I had ignored until yesterday, I had a very vivid dream last night of Boushh using the weapon as both a sniper rifle and a cattle prod on Chewie. Amazing what gets into your sub-conscience thoughts. :P

I have to admit, although I don't like to complain about articulation, a lack of ball joints on Cody makes me stop and say, huh?

However, I can't believe we're seeing half the line packaged already this year.

I donno if I would call it a victory. There may be no such thing as bad publicity, but it desn't mean people are going to embrace the idea. For me, the interest in the promotion is whether or not I'm going to be closing the book on this part of the hobby which translates into lost revenue for the retailors.

7826
They sort of talked about them as two different things, which was news to me as well.  The "chase" figures being the foil cardbacks, and the "Bounty Hunt" being the George Lucas promotion dealio.  Maybe I misunderstood, but that's kind of what I gathered from it.

That's what others are gathering based on the evidence seen so far. Looks to me like that's the way things are pointing as well.

Do I sue Count Dooku? Why? What has he done to me? In fact he was one of the few redeeming qualities of the PT.

 ;)

Seriously, I haven't tried the game yet.

A thought just occured to me. If this "chase" figure program really is a chase figure situation, who thinks the forums over there are just going to implode? Think about it. These chase figures are going to cause a huge stir, and not in a good way. RS has allowed a their Collect to Collect philosphy to go by the way side and the forums are now filled with people who scalp, whether they accept the definition or not. By human nature, all of those people are going to  get into major fights due to jealousy and the mods, or lack there of, are going to be overwhelmed.

7829
If these are indeed chase figures, I'm going to sit back and watch that "other site's" forums implode. Think about it, they seem to be run by people in it for the money now (the members, not the admin's,) and I have not seen one scalper team last because of jealousy and resentment over the others better luck. RS is doomed.

Welcome aboard Exjedi! I can relate to what you went through with the fire. Although our house didn't burn to the ground, we had to esentially rebuild it due to the extensive fire damage and lost many items. Miraculously, no one was hurt and my SW collection was at the opposite end of the house the fire started in. (This was in the early 90's when I was in college.)

The insurance info is very helpful as well. I need to to add that to my current policy.
