Maul was almost perfect as is. I think given the oppretunity to flesh out his character with subsequent film apearances could have ruined the character.

The Prequel Trilogy / The Prequels that could have been
« on: May 29, 2005, 11:09 AM »
I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but both Lawrance Kasdan and Frank Darabont were aproached to write all of the prequels based on Lucas's stories. Kasdan turned them down because we had moved on from Star Wars (this I heard from his own mouth) and Lucas couldn't reach an agreemant with Darabont due to union issues. This ulimately lead to Lucas's decision to give a thumbs down to Darabont's Indy 4 script which Spielberg approved.

One could only imagine what could have been. :P

Humor. Has anyone brought up humor?

I think that's what the PT is sorly lacking. The OT had many a great moments where humor was generated because of the inherant conflicts between our heroes, thus creating tons of memerable lines. I can't think of one fun moment like this in the entire PT.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Episode zero

I was thinking about what episode this would be called.

Star Wars Prologue

Interesting idea. I for one will entertain that train of thought.

I love details like that. I just wonder how intentional it is.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jedi = Star Trek red shirts?
« on: May 29, 2005, 10:46 AM »
Guys, the whole point of the Prequels is that the Jedi were arrogant and when their attackers came after them they were caught off guard.

I've thought about this from that line in AOTC, however, I don't think the idea is fleshed out enough for my taste. It's a stretch, but one could make that connection. Personally, I would have like to have seen a little more time devoted to that idea if that was the case.

If Lucas says that's way the Jedi die, that's the way the Jedi die.

True, but that doesn't make it the right choice artistically or consistancy wise. ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Curse you, Deluxe Wave One!!!

I noticed that after the Target sale, several of the stores mysteriously lost about half of their Sidious's and Obi-Wan's. I think some stashers for restocking have been working.

The white clones are shipping in wave 3 R1. Does anyone know what rotaion the colored clones are shipping in and if they've hit yet?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases

I picked up another set of wave three deluxe yesterday. And as a side not, I went to 5 targets yesterday and all of them had #41 clone sitting on the pegs and no one, including myself, was buying them.

Sounds like something that would happen to me. :P

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: So how many times have you seen it?
« on: May 27, 2005, 09:08 PM »
I've only seen it twice. I enjoyed it much more the second time, but my opinion remains the same. Will probably check it out one more time though.

The Prequel Trilogy / Jedi = Star Trek red shirts?
« on: May 27, 2005, 02:55 PM »
I came up with this analogy in another post and while I tought it was funny, I also thought it was true.

For almost 30 years, we have been told that the Jedi were the coolest heroes in the Galaxy. The force flows within each one allowing them to be in a constant relationship with their surroundings. I find it disheartening that any Jedi could be caught off guard and be shot in the back by a simple minded drone. Clone troops are weak minded. As soon as they got the order they would have been broadcasting their intentions loudly.

To me this very sequence in the movie reduced the Jedi to mear disposable characters not unlike the poor guys in Star trek with the red shirts who always got killed. Am I wrong? Did anyone buy this sequence as what it should have been, a tragic end to the galaxies greatest? It may have been a tragic end, but in the end, I didn't think the Jedi were all that great.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Figure Impressions?
« on: May 27, 2005, 02:27 PM »
Now that the movie has been released, and viewed, I'm finally opening my figures. So far i've opened the first 20 and over all I'm very impressed. The only stinker so far is the #7 R2, it's just not done very well at all.

You know, I was worried that we might have problems finding the Trooper set because I was afraid the Anakin set might sit after a while, but after seeing the Vader with removable helmet, I think there's no need to worry about that.
