30th Anniversary Collection / Re: How big is your army?
« on: May 27, 2005, 02:19 PM »
My personal goal is 10 of each republic army builder. Some I have exceeded and some will be less like commaders and vehical figures.

13 #6 clones
11 #41 clones
10 clone pilots
8 AT ET gunners
6 Target clones
5 commanders
2 AT RT's with drivers
1 jet pack trooper
1 barc with biker

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Different Cuts Of The Film?
« on: May 26, 2005, 03:07 PM »
I assume that includes the digital prints as well, Anthony?
Hopefully the upcoming DVD version will get spiced up a little bit though!

That doesn't include the digital prints since digital distribution is handled differently.

However, I did see the digital screening and there were no differences that I could see. Certainly no additional scenes.

I had heard about different prints as well this morning.  I happen to be good friends with someone who works for the company the distributes all of Fox's film prints. I called him this morning to get a handel on this rumor. All the prints are the same. There are no differences what-so-ever.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: The Slaughter of the Padawans
« on: May 25, 2005, 07:22 PM »
In truth, the only thing that I felt was missing from ROTS was a small scene (30 seconds) with Anikin in the temple killing a few adult Jedi.  I would have love to see him wiping them out with no problem, showing us how strong the dark side has made him.

I think that the hologram didn't show enough.

You're almost right. It's not about what we actually see. It's about what we can imagine. In the hologram scene I think we needed a few beats of watching Obi-wan's reaction to the slaughter. That would have been very powerful on many levels.

1 ESB - a masterpiece dispite the new line changes
2 ANH - Excellent. nearly as good as ESB, just lacks a little polishing.
3 tie. ROTJ and TPM - ROTJ is a little too kid friendly with the Ewoks as is TPM with young Anakin. Jar Jar kills PTM, but that is the weakest part of an otherwise solid, but weak, story.
4 AOTC - Not bad, but in my opinion, a lot of minior story and pacing issues and a couple of missed editorial opritunities that make me cringe every time I watch it. Also a weak story, but not as solid.
5 ROTS - by far the most sloppy technically and artistically. This had a very strong, compelling story, but what was on screen only scratched the surface of it's potential. This should have been the swan song of the saga, but instead it was the most dissapointing for me.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

The new SW insider feature these sets in the toy artical. They specifically mention the clone trooper removable helmets. :)

What are your guys limits? I concentrate much more on my imperial army which leaves me less room for PT armies, so I have a limit of 10 max of each viable builder. After that, I leave them sit on the pegs.

Who goes all out, who shows restraint?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Jedi Starfighter Rehashes

Ughhhh!

No, it's not necessary. It's out of hand. I hope Obi-Wan's is at least Blue.

I found another Stormie on Saturday at TRU. Having one of those coupons, I couldn't resist. Now I am up to 44.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Hands up! or down....
« on: May 24, 2005, 09:22 PM »
Thanks Herbert for helping realize I'm not crazy. When I watched ROTS for a seconed time, I looked for the hands up and was confused when they were down.

Sometime stuff is filmed solely for trailers. That shot was obviously one of them.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Greivous' Cough?
« on: May 24, 2005, 09:11 PM »
Grevious was probably Lucas' attempt to create a new Boba Fett. Didn't work IMO. But I did like the cough. It would have worked better if he was a total SOB like he should have been.

Was the scene in the shooting script?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Zett's scene
« on: May 24, 2005, 09:04 PM »
True, Lando.  All of the Jedi we saw getting gunned down by Clone Troopers were ambushed.  There was no warning, and that's what made it so disastrous.

It was disatrous, but not in a tragic way. Clones are simple minded. As soon as the order was in their head, I think any Jedi should have sensed a disturbance and reacted. These scenes were very dissapointing for me.

Which is why I loved Zett's scene, we got to see one go down the way they all should have gone down, fighting like the heroes they're supposed to be.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?
« on: May 24, 2005, 08:57 PM »
One word: no.

Titanic had a much broader interest than ROTS has worldwide. It was a one of, special movie about a very tragic moment in real history, people wanted to see that.

Presicely.

Titanic earned more than $20 million every week for almost two months straight. It was unprecidented. It was also released in the winter and had little competition after christmas. There is no way ROTS will come close. It will be lucky it it beats TPM and we will certainly know for sure in two weekends.

I like the idea that the sith could have created Anakin. Sure he was created by the force, but someone useing the force to do it fuels a lot of ideas and possibilities. It's way more fun to entertain ideas like that rather than reduce the idea to simple leverage to seduce Anakin. Besides, why would Anakin care about that if the immaculate conception didn't have relevance to him?

Either way, it's a brilliant idea. Look at all the debate.
