The Bullpen / Marvel Legends X-Men Box Set
« on: July 21, 2003, 01:15 PM »
Some great pictures of Wave V this past weekend, can't wait to pick up Colossus.  X-Men Classics doesn't look too bad either, for some reason Cyclops' head looks a little big to me, but maybe that will be fixed.  Also, I see ADC has pics up today of the box set, looks good to me...except Rogue's one eye needs to be fixed, but I'm sure it will.  Check out the pics here:

Well, while out shopping this weekend I looked around for a regular He-Man and/or Skeletor to purchase to start off the collection (and see if I want to continue), but I wasn't able to find any.  I see that has the He-Man for sale, do you think that would be the best/cheapest route if I can't find one in stores anymore?  I really want to start collecting this line, but still not sure if I can afford it (and I know I don't have the space right now).  If I do, I would be like some of you...strictly ones from the old days.  I wouldn't be buying any variants, or any new characters, just the redos of the ones from when I was a kid.  I wanted to get He-Man first, and then take it from there.  I'm really looking forward to the Zodac figure (does anyone know when this is supposed to be released?), and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any other figures around here.  So far, the only ones I've seen (since I've started looking that is), were Tri-Klops, Mekanek, Smash Blade He-Man, Spin Blade Skeletor, and an Orko.  I'll probably end up getting some of those eventually, but just wanted to have a figure, in-hand first to see if I like them enough.  Thanks for all the comments and/or pics any of you post...I appreciate the help in learning more about the line.

This was posted over at Hasbro's site a little while ago, an explanation of the Jedi Points, as well as the announcement of "Theme" waves for 2004...Sounds great to me!  Here's the link, as well as the text from the article (if that is ok to post here, if not, I am sorry).

Comic-Con Announcements

For those of you who arenít attending Comic-Con this week, here is what we unveiled today at our presentation.

We are pleased to announce the creation of Jedi Master Points Auctions. Since 1999, youíve been saving up your points, and we have finally come up with a way for you to use them. Scheduled for launch in September, Jedi Master Point Auctions will enable registered users of to use their Jedi Master Points as currency in a series of online auctions. We are still finalizing what will be auctioned on the site, but we will have hard-to-find items like Jorg Sacul, Toy Fair Darth Vader and the R2-D2 Astromech Droid. The promotion is scheduled to run for a three-month trial period. We will then evaluate the program for the future; however, this may be the only opportunity to ever use your Jedi Master Points, so donít save them up for something in the future! The total number of auctions will also be limited, so bid early. As more details about the promotion are finalized, we will post on the website, so check back here.

The other major topic was a preview of our plans for 2004. Basic figures will be combined into one collection, and our goal is to release a new wave each month, with three to four new figures per wave. Each wave will have a theme, and the tentative themes for the first five waves were announced, as well as some examples of figures planned for each wave. The themes and some examples are as follows:

Wave 1 - Hoth

Luke Skywalker, Wampa Cave

Wave 2 - Tatooine

Luke Skywalker, ROTJ (previously shown on our website)

Wave 3 - Jabbaís Palace

Wave 4 - Battle of Yavin

Captain Antilles (Fansí Choice #5)

General Dodonna (close runner up to Antilles)

Wave 5 - Star Destroyer

Dengar (with backpack)

Also announced was the introduction of a new assortment at the deluxe price point in 2004. This line was created to offer characters and accessories that are too large to fit in our basic figure line while remaining true to our 3 ĺ" scale. There are seven figures in total, which will only be available in the Spring, and where possible, many of the figures will fit into one of the basic figure themes. Examples include the Wampa and a Jabba the Hutt figure that will be featured in an upcoming issue of Star Wars Insider.

Hey guys, I just saw that these pictures were posted over at the RS forums...some amazing new figures here!

Any thoughts?

(by the way, credit goes to boba_jp from those forums for finding this....although I don't post over there anymore, I'm glad I take a look from time to time)

Just consolidating some threads ~ OCB

So what does everyone think of the rest of the MOTU figures that were shown so far this week?  I think Fisto will definitely be a favorite, as well as other figures that we have seen before (Zodac, Roboto..not sure if he was shown this time).  What are your opinions of the new versions of other characters, and the "Snake-armor" versions?  I'm usually not big on variations like that, but some don't look too bad.  I actually kind of like the Stratos they have shown, and the one He-Man with the new armor (not the one with the arms sticking out everywhere).  The Snake Men themselves are pretty cool too, I always remember Kobra Khan being a favorite of many kids when I was younger.

Fisto was always one of my favorites when I was a kid, I really like how they have updated his look for this new line.  The Four Horsemen continue to do an amazing job with this line, I really want to start collecting it :).  I remember also having a figure named "Jitsu" from the vintage line that often fought against Fisto.  This is a great week for toy collectors, with all the new images coming in.  So many lines are done so well these days.

I noticed that their site has been having troubles too, thanks for the heads up though OCB.  The few pictures I have been able to get in there and see look great.  Can't wait to see more!

Happy Birthday!  Hope you have a great day!

I really like the looks of the new figures we have been shown too.  I was also over at GH looking at their coverage so far, and things look pretty good.  However, it was kind of disappointing to only see a handful of new things from the "Saga" line.  Clone Wars doesn't look too bad, I'm looking forward to seeing what the cartoon is like too.  Overall these figures (Bail, Padme, Dignitary, Sketchtrooper), all look great, and I will add all to my collection (if I can find them).

This is a great idea OCB.  I know I sometimes feel bad posting all these questions in Watto's about other toylines (Marvel Legends, MOTU, Simpsons, etc.).  Also, like you said, it seems like many of us are interested in other lines, especially with the Star Wars drought.  I know I would visit the new forum, as well as Watto's for other general discussion. :)  Plus, we might be having more posting going on with new pictures from different toy lines coming up at Comic Con this week/weekend. :)

Just saw news at that the Miami Heat have offered Elton Brand a 6 year, 82 million dollar deal.  Now we'll have to see if Sterling and the Clips will match....they're going to have a whole different team next year...losing all of their talent.  Oh well, they probably wouldn't have ever put it together anyways :).

One other question about this line (sorry).  Is this a difficult line to collect overall?  As far as finding figures, or maybe there being too many releases or too expensive to keep up?  I think I will only collect the ones I like if I decide to start buying, even if I were to be a "completist", it would only be with the regular release characters, not the exclusives or "smash blade, super armor, etc" He-Mans and Skeletors.  And most likely, no vehicles or playsets either.  Have there been certain figures that have been a problem to find?  I do realize it will probably be a little more difficult for me if I decide to do this, since I am coming into the game later on.  Thanks again for all the advice and info everyone.  I hope people continue to discuss the line here, when there is anything new popping up :).

Thanks OCB!  To ebay I go! :)  Thanks for the links to SCS as well, I've been there a few times...really a well done site, especially if you want to learn more about any of the figures that have been released.

I had a question for you Simpsons collectors.  I have never collected this line (although it looks great), but have always wanted to pick up a few here and there.  One that I want the most is a Ralph Wiggum...and I was curious what a decent price was for this figure.  Should I just look through the ebay auctions, or is now a bad time to go after this figure?  Also, what is the best (and hopefully not overpriced) version of Homer to get.  Those are my two favorite characters, and I thought about trying to pick them up to have them on my desk.  Thanks for any advice!
