Modern Classifieds / WTB: Code 3 ESB Mini Poster (C3 Exclusive)
« on: November 30, 2005, 05:17 AM »
One of the only times my wife said that she wanted to buy a SW item for herself was when we were at Celebration 3 and she saw the Code 3 mini ESB poster.  She mentioned it again yesterday when I showed a picture of it to her, so I gotta get my hands on this for Christmas!

Please PM me if you can help me out!

Vintage Kenner / Beginning a Darth Vader focus
« on: November 25, 2005, 08:51 PM »
For months I've been thinking of getting into the world of vintage collecting, and that time is just about here.  It just feels like its time for a change of focus.  I figured if I'm not incredibly excited about what's to come for the modern line in 2006, why spend my money on it.  Of course, there will be a few things I'll have to grab, but my days as a modern completist are dead.

As I've been surfing eBay and lurking in the various vintage sale ads, I've noticed a different feeling to vintage purchases.  There isn't a time crunch involved, so it's actually quite a bit more relaxing.  Trying to keep up with the many modern releases the last few months has been quite intense.  But with vintage, there's really nothing to keep up with - I can surf at my leisure to see what's out there.

Like I said, I certainly won't be able to completely walk away from the modern line.  But I was wondering if there are any others out there thinking of making a change in focus.

Customs Community and Group Projects / Customs Giveaways
« on: November 10, 2005, 11:32 PM »
Since some of you guys have graciously offered to contribute your custom figures for JD giveaways, I thought I should "officially" check who's interested.  Feel free to check out the Site Feedback thread if you'd like to see what's been discussed.

If you'd like to do this, please PM me a picture and description of your custom.  And feel free to ask questions too (either by PM or in this thread)!

Other Collectibles / Your Dream List
« on: November 1, 2005, 02:05 PM »
"Congratulations!  You've just won a million dollars!  What are you going to do with it?"

"Buy expensive Star Wars collectibles, of course!"

OK, so it's just a dream.  But what would you buy if money really was no object?  Which of those high end SW goodies have you been dreaming about but can't justify paying the high price?

Here's my list:

Master Replicas Jango Fett Blasters
Master Relicas Stormtrooper Blaster
Gentle Giant OT Darth Vader Mini-Bust
Lego Star Destroyer
Sideshow Collectibles 1:1 Darth Maul Bust
ICONS X-Wing Fighter

I was crazy enough to preorder the Sideshow Collectibles Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous statues a few months ago, but I still feel guilty for doing it.  I've never come anywhere near spending $300 to $450 on a single item.  :-[

On behalf of our intrepid figure reviewer, Mr Jesse James, I'm going to start this thread.

I just finished reading his review on the hottest item out there, the Evolutions Clone Trooper to Stormtrooper set.  Jesse, I have to say that has got to be one of the absolute best reviews you've ever written.  I'm now ashamed to say it, but I haven't opened my set yet - it recently arrived in the mail and is still sitting sealed at home.

Well, after reading your review, I can see just how well Hasbro has done with this set and I guarantee you I'll be opening it up tonight.  After reading about all the accessories to allow for different displayed figures, I'm already hoping to get my hands on another set.

Again, well done, Jesse.   8)

Power of the Force 2 / Freeze Frames & Commtech Chips
« on: October 29, 2005, 12:42 PM »
The current discussion of the "collectibility" of the upcoming mini hologram figures in the ROTS series got me thinking about other freebies of the past.

Does anyone consider these as an individual collectible (apart from the figures they came with)?  Was it a big deal to get a complete set, whether Freeze Frames or Commtechs?

I'm surprised Justin doesn't have a thread started already, so it's my pleasure to start one.

Justin kindly grabbed a Sith Eyes #28 Anakin for me and shipped it up to Canuckia.  A true gentleman.   8)

Watto's Junk Yard / Hard Rock - Bands You Recommend
« on: October 19, 2005, 04:30 AM »
I'm pretty flexible when it comes to listening to music, but my favourite is definitely hard rock.  I seem to be getting tired of my current faves and am interested in what you guys like.

Simply put - what are some lesser known bands that you recommend trying out?

Revenge of the Sith / Articulation at a Price?
« on: October 15, 2005, 06:29 PM »
I think that most people would agree that Hasbro has come a long way in 10 years since the days of the POTF2 line.  We started with bulked up bodies and little poseability with POTF2 and improved to movie accurate sculpts with incredible articulation as we finish off ROTS and move into TSC.

However, the articulation has come at a price -- durability.  How many times have you been playing with posing your ROTS figures and popped an arm off? Or even a leg?

As much as I love articulation, I think Hasbro needs to find a way to improve how they give us that articulation.

Modern Classifieds / Wanted: Kubrick Stormtroopers
« on: September 22, 2005, 07:38 AM »
Hey dudes, I need some help.  I'm trying to create an Ewok vs Stormtrooper scene, Kubrick style.  Does anyone have any of these left over from previous cases?  Ideally, I'd like to buy at least a couple at a time to save on shipping, but please give me a shout if you can help at all.

Many thanks.

Watto's Junk Yard / So I'm turning 30 this year...
« on: September 17, 2005, 03:02 AM »
... And I need to figure out a unique way to celebrate this.

I've been warning my wife since the day I turned 29 that I would likely be doing something pretty stupid when I turned 30.  And I'd hate to let her down.  :D

For the first 6 months I bugged her that I was going to buy my dream car, a 1970 Olds 442 Convertible, but I'm having second thoughts.  (Of course, the money involved to get my hands on a car like that is playing a small role  :-\).

So, any ideas?

Vintage Kenner / Darth Vader Carry Case
« on: September 15, 2005, 06:26 AM »
I'm sure we all had one of these when we were kids so we could store our figures.

But I came across this one on ebay - this has got to be a fake, right?  Or did they actually produce a white version?
