LEGO / Re: Simpsons

My Target put out a shelf hanger full of these either today or late Thursday.  There were a lot of them there but there were some scattered around so someone had been going through them.  I didn't bother to pick any up, I'm not really a Simpsons fan.

If it was just the director I would probably skip this film but I'm thinking about the half dozen or more actors and actresses that are in this that I like.  It's a story I want to see, written by a guy I trust with actors that I respect... So? IDK.  I'm probably still going to go see it.

I'm pretty happy with about 8 of them, better than FSS2.  I'm really psyched for Alpine, Bombstrike and I can't wait to see Vypra.  I hope they keep that steady-gun with Repeater that they used in last year's Con set, the one that originally came with the POC IG figures.

I'm pretty much sold on the set, I just don't know how to pay for it.  I'm debating going for the whole thing or picking and choosing.  Ultimately if I get Alpine, Bombstrike and Repeater (hinging on accessories) I could probably live without the rest if I had to.

I've been looking for Night Vipers and CGs also.  Joe K picked me up a couple CGs in Scranton last night so they are around.

Dang, Jesse.  I passed up a Lady Jaye fig at TRU last weekend.  I won't be back to that store anytime soon though.  HTS still has her in stock also and there was that 20% off w/ free shipping code but I think it expired Monday.

I'd really like the Joseph Colton figure.  Even though the prices are kinda high, the vehicle offerings this year are pretty nice.

Anyone from JD going to the Con this year?  I'm not going to be there and didn't buy either of the sets.  I don't care for the Zombie stuff and didn't feel the value was there on the 12" set for what's included.

Without Hasbro attending the Con, it's not looking like we'll get any new reveals or see any samples of the 50th stuff coming to TRU later this year.  While there may be some good, informative panels, I think the most I could hope for at this point info on the FSS 3.0, if the Club is doing one.  Maybe hear some plans for their future 12" product since they basically cleaned out the store with that latest sale they had.

After reading some reports online, I stopped at Toys-R-Us and Five Below over the weekend.

TRU has been getting the Blind Master/Jinx wave in and I found leftovers at the store in Binghamton, NY.  I picked up the Blind Master but no sign of Jinx or the Night Viper.  The Eagle Hawk is on Green Clearance until the end of the year, with green meaning 40% off the tagged price of $44.99.  I picked up another and tried to use their 20% coupon but apparently they wouldn't apply that due to the clearance pricing.  Still, $29 out the door with the chopper.

Five Below has been getting in cases of the Ultimate wave.  Of the two Five Below stores I stopped in, only one had leftovers from the case.  I spotted Kwinn, Cobra Commander, Budo and a couple other figures.  At $5 each I picked up the Ultimate movie Flint and Duke.

I'm still surprised that the Blind Master wave showed up at TRU but a while back I did find the Kwinn wave at a store so they're really the last major retailer giving the brand any shelf space.  It's also surprising to me that HTS no longer lists most of the Kwinn and Blind Master waves of figures on their site but they're showing up at Five Below.  I'd pay $10 all day for more Night Vipers and even for another shot at Jinx.  It's really too bad that Hasbro is treating this line this way.

The membership figures and accessories went up for pre-order on the Club website today (Thursday).  They're a little more expensive than I thought they would be.

I picked the 12" figure as my sub freebie so I ponied up for the accessory set and box for him ($40), Cross Country (carded $30) and the H.A.V.O.C. ($42).  Over $126 shipped.  I wasn't really pleased with that total.

I didn't really want a carded Cross Country but there was no option for a bagged figure so I don't know if I offered to trade him to someone getting the free version that's a carded collector would work or not.  I don't think the $42 for the vehicle is actually that terrible.  It's a limited run on a decent sized toy that was $20 or $25 at retail the first time around...Same price as the Eagle Hawk is now.

I expected $40 on the 12" set mostly because of the box.  It's the only 12" Joe stuff out there so I feel like I needed to support it.

One thing about Toy Hunter to keep in mind is that Jordan basically knows what the people have for sale before he ever gets there.  He and the producers set up the visits so he already knows he's buying certain things and the sellers know he's offering dealer prices and that he's buying to sell for profit later.  So, yes, it's not really a shock when he comes across a sealed Sectaurs Hyve playset in a guy's basement.

One of the storage auction shows, maybe all of them(?), are known to have seeded some of the units for filming but I don't think that's the case with this show.  They take the time to track the people down that have what they're looking for.

As for picking stuff up at shows like C2E2 or whatever, I don't know exactly how they do those but you can tell that some of the filming takes place before the shows open in the morning because there aren't crowds around.  But I don't know if Jordan just finds stuff randomly or if he's contacted sellers prior to coming to those shows.

I didn't get to go to the presentation last year, but I went to the 2012 Toy Hunter panel at NYCC and they talked about a lot of these types of things.  I did a write-up on it (NYCC Toy Hunter Panel)

I never looked, I wonder if the 5 per limit was available from the start or if they upped it after limiting it further at the start?  I know that when FSS 1.0 figs hit the store they mostly sold out in a couple of days, with only a couple exceptions.

Or, I wonder if they have more this time around because they ordered based on FSS 1.0 numbers and didn't get as many takers on the full sub?  I wonder if some of the info on that will be talked about during the Club's panel at the Con next month?  I'm sure if they're planning on doing a 3.0 sub we'll probably hear about the figures at that show, they announced 2.0 at last year's con.

Although, who knows if you'll be able to register for this year's Con?  Technical problems have kept it from going online so far.  I'm not going and I won't be ordering either set although I do like the 12" set this year.  Just looking at it, though, I don't think the value is there.  And I've seen it reported that other than the freebie for attending, there isn't an add-on set for the 12" release this year, but I'm not sure that's a 100% yet.

I'm still in for the Havok and Cross Country and the accessory set for the 12" figure, which I have picked as my free fig this year.

Yeah, the 13th figure from the FSS 2.0 is kind of lackluster.  I know who it is and have seen the photos but mine hasn't shown up yet.  I think Blackout for the FSS 1.0 was a better choice.

But I've also seen people that think the FSS 2.0 had a better offering of characters and I don't agree with that.  We had 3 female characters in the first round which, IMO, was the better choice.

I don't know if I'll be in for FSS 3.0 if they do it.  So far the figures that I've wanted the most I've had a shot at buying individually from the Club after they shipped to subscribers. So I think I may just buy them individually next time.  The only chance I'd be taking is they know the 13th figure out of the park and I wouldn't be able to get it.  But, even though I thought Blackout was a good figure, if I'd missed him I wouldn't be crying.

I thought the Maggie thing was kind of odd also but then, like Bill said, she probably used them to keep the others off of her.

I liked last night's episode.  I thought it was interesting to see how far Bob had come.  I don't know if I missed something or if it was planned, but when he was wandering alone at the beginning I didn't realize it was in the past and when I saw Daryl come riding up on his chopper it still took a second for it to kick in that it was a flashback.  Which, I thought, was good storytelling.  Anyway, he seems to have the best attitude about things right now and Maggie and Sasha need that.

Daryl's situation, on the other hand. That was not a good outcome for him.

I was so happy when I saw Archer was getting picked up for 2 more seasons.  But, I don't know why it wouldn't, it's still firing on all cylinders.  I really like how they switched this season up.

Since this new F4 movie will be a reboot it seems likely they'll go back to Doom.  Fox rebooted X-Men and went right back to Magneto as the villain so... Track record?  I'd be more than happy to see a different villain, though.

I liked that the reboot of Spider-Man didn't go with Goblin but Lizard instead, seeing as how he was teased in two previous films.  Even though we're getting Goblin in the

Magneto didn't really emerge as the villain until the end of the movie.  Shaw was the baddy in the reboot.

Eh, six of one...
