"Evolutions" assortment...

One of the new blurbs from Action-Figure.com mentions this:

Autumn 2005
Evolutions Assortment: Awesome 3-pack showing the changes the characters have made throughout the Star Wars movies. Wave 1 features Anakin (good), Anakin (bad) & Darth Vader.

Very cool idea.  What else do you guys expect to see, or would like to see in this line?  I guess some of the more obvious choices would be:

Obi-Wan TPM/AOTC or ROTS/ANH

Palpatine Senator/Chancellor/ROTJ madman

Not sure how "evolutionary" they're wanting to go with this, but I'd like to see some OT only assortments, of:

Tatooine Luke/Bespin Luke/Jedi Luke

Cantina Han/Bespin Han/Endor Han

ANH Leia/Bespin Leia/Slave Leia

ANH R2/ESB R2/ROTJ R2...  Oh wait, that one doesn't work too well now, does it?!   

So whaddaya guys want to see from this line?  Hopefully they keep it at a tolerable $15 price point, but it'll likely hit $20 as most 3-packs usually do...

To me, these would need to be of characters that appear in both trilogies.  OK here's my ideas:


STORMTROOPER EVOLUTION

- SA Clonetrooper (EP2)
- SA Clonetrooper (EP3)
- VOTC Stormtrooper


ANAKIN EVOLUTION

- Anakin (EP2)
- Anakin (EP3)
- VOTC Vader w/ removable helmet


PALPATINE EVOLUTION

- Senator Palpatine
- Chancellor Palpatine
- Emperor Palpatine


OBI WAN KENOBI EVOLUTION

- Padawan Kenobi
- Jedi Knight Kenobi
- VOTC retooled Old Ben Kenobi


I know I'd grab up those Stormtrooper ones if they had sense enough to make them...

I think this line has a lot of potential too, and could be pretty cool if done right.  It is entirely possible it will be re-hash-tastic, but hopefully that won't be the case.  The only scenario I could see being "ok" would be if they packed up the SA Clonetrooper, a ROTS Clone, and the VOTC Stormie and sent them our way .  I'm with Matt, I wouldn't mind seeing this cross-over into the OT, as long as the pricepoint was low.  The Luke/Han/Leia packs are an interesting idea...but again, if done by Hasbro, they'd probably be repacks.  That said, if they put VOTC Han, POTJ Bespin Han, and a new Endor Han in a 3 pack, I'd buy it .  Anyways, I like the ideas given so far:

Clone/ROTS Clone/Stormtrooper

AOTC Ani/ROTS Ani/Vader (not sure if "little Ani" should be included/subbed in or not)

Padawan or AOTC Obi/ROTS Obi/ANH Obi

"naked" 3PO/Silver 3PO/Gold 3PO

Senator Palpy/Chancellor Palpy/Eeeevil Palpy

Could be a really nice little line if handled well, hopefully we'll get some more details on this before too long.

I have NO faith in this line being ANYTHING other than some nifty packaged re-hash 3-packs.   

Watch, it will be fuill of things like:

* Kamino Jango / Saga Lilttle Boba / Carkoon Fett
* Ep1 Palpy / Ep2 Palpy / Flashback Emperor
* Ep1 Tatooine Ani / Anakin Jedi Ep2 / Vader Ep3
* Ep1 Jedi Duel Obi / Ep3 Obi-Wan / PotJ Ben


I expect NOTHING good to come of this line.  Seriously. 

A wise man once said, "The future is filled with cheap re-hashes" and until I see something to prove otherwise, I'm taking the grumpy, bitter, jaded route on this one. 

I'm going to say that this line will be jam-packed full of re-hashes.  In fact, just to really tick us off, it may well be the worst-case scenario that we will have to buy these $20 3-pack monstrosities to get one new figure along with 2 sucky repacks. 

I am almost sure of it.... and it will probably be an exclusive here in the USA to boot.

Even if they are new, they'll probably be expensive as hell. Probably around $20-$25, and they'll probably make store exclusive waves too.

Obi Wan: SA Padawan, SA Robed AOTC or ROTS, SA ANH Ben

I bet it ends up being something like those Wal-Mart 3-packs when the DVDs came out.

Though if they did a Trooper pack, I'd go ape**** for that.

They will still nab us because undoubtedly they will include one new killer sculpt from ROTS in each set that we will all want.  Then include 2 other repacks from the older lines and slap them in fancy packaging that carded collectors will want as well.

They could also do 'deluxe evolutions'....

TPM Ani/TPM padawan Ani/AOTC Anakin/AOTC Anakin with robotic arm/ROTS Anakin/ANH Vader/ESB Vader/ROTJ Vader/Vader redeemed/Spirit of Anakin

That'd be a 10-pk!!

I think they could also do an evolution of C-3PO, start with him all wires (TPM), move to the all gray shell (AOTC) and then the shiny gold (ROTS). This could be considered kinda bland, but they are limited on the characters that have appeared throughout the Saga:

Anakin/Vader
Obi-Wan
Palpatine/Sidious/Emperor
R2-D2
C-3PO
Chewbacca (but he really hasn't changed enough for this)
Yoda (not a lot of variation in the prequel trilogy in terms of outfit - I'm ignoring the TPM puppet)
Clonetroopers/Stormtroopers

That's about it I think - they'd have to get pretty creative to do any other characters (I would think).

So, there was no hint of these at the Toy Fair, huh? I guess it's safe to say there's nothing to be excited about with them, then, just old figures in new packaging.

Still, it would've been great for them to surprise us with something OT like:
