Gone are the days when they would go around their neighborhood with a wagon. Now, one mom takes her kids to Safeway to stand outside (both doors) peppering customers with sales pitches.
Hey now.

I'll have you know my kid walked for two hours selling cookies and she did a damn fine job of it.
I think that whole subcontext of this thread shows what a huge problem we have. The whole notion of selling cookies is to raise some money and to primarily teach the kids the meaning of hard work and that there's some rejection involved in what you do. All those things you listed are a joke, the kid is doing nothing and learning nothing. The parents are living vicariously through their kids and are pretty much pathetic, IMO. I've no problem with people selling a couple of boxes for their kids to help out AFTER they've made some rounds on their own, just so they can help sell off the minimum the kids are tasked with. But hanging out at Ferry docks to hawk Girl Guide cookies? How meaningless is your life?

And if all elections have come down to is who has the most money, well, then I guess we really all are pretty damn stupid. [/soapbox]
Oh yeah, 139 memberships to Hyperspace sold in total via this little stunt? Wow, Star Wars is in great shape, ain't it?
Oh yeah, go Jeffie!
