Jared is owed some kind of royalties from Hasbro because he can make any POS look incredible.

Not that that Obi is a POS, but let's face it nobody wants to pay $7 for a fabric cloak for their Pilot Obi's they already have.

Now though, I want that Obi-Wan...  It's perfect.

Sadly cloth robes Obi are flying of the shelves here.  And the people buying him already have at least two "versions" of the same figure.  Go nuts :-\
You are never alone when there's a clone.

"Feel don't think"...and she slapped me right after I said it too.

I'm on that list too.  I saw one repacked Obi on the pegs at TRU yesterday, and decided to pick it up.  They also had Foul and the Firespeeder Pilot (no Cody), and with the "buy 2 get 1 free" promo they have going with SW this week, I essentially got Obi for free.  I already had two pilot versions, plus the WM exclusive with Luke baby, but after seeing Jared's pictures I decided I wanted this one with the soft goods as well. :)

Picked up the repacks I didn't really want today (Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Grievous) along with Lushros... I'd like to thank Hasbro for modifying Grievous' legs to the point where he can't stand at all, unless you place his legs where his toes are pointing at each other. ::)  However, I do like how they made his arms less rubbery than the Sneak Preview version.

Anakin I haven't opened yet, and Obi-Wan is as cool as the original, but I really only bought him for the soft goods robe. I would have passed on it even then, if it weren't for Jared's awesome pictures.

Check out this picture that Pawlus posted over at GH:

He's right - for the amount of time and energy (let alone gas) that is takes to pull this off, it's not really worth the $7 you saved....

LOL Of course it's worth it. People always say that, that gas money was wasted. You think the last time they went into the store was to be their last trip there for the rest of their lives? The next time you go in to shop for figures, you walk over the the service desk and get retail for old, crappy figs you didn't want anyway; no gas required. :D

What makes this even MORE pathetic is that someone actually took the time to paint those figures! If you don't have $14 to spend on two figures then maybe you should consider finding a new job or a less expensive hobby. ::)

I'm thinking that gathering up a bunch of swapped out figures like that could make a really cool niche collection.  Although most of them are no where near as interesting as that pair.

I've never forgotten the letter to ToyFare this guy wrote about finding a boxed set of old school X-Men swapped out with modern team members painted in the old color scheme. He said he was furious, and went to explain to the employees what had happened. He said for all his trouble they "looked at me like I had done it".

I can help you with that.

Swapping figures like that isn't to save money, the point is just to see if they can get away with it.
