Digging the Cantina Band set. I'll wait and see pics of everything else first. I hope these aren't all repacks, and something similar to the Evolution sets...

Here's the breakdown again, with a revision or two, per Jared:

Tin 1 - The Phantom Menace:
1. Darth Maul (from Evo set) & Obi-Wan (Jedi Duel version w/ soft goods)
2. Qui-Gon Jinn (soft goods version) & R2-R9 (Queen's Starship red Astromech)

Tin 2 - Attack of the Clones:
1. Blue Clone Commander (Evo version) & Anakin (Evo version)
2. Jango Fett (Kamino Escape) & Count Dooku (Evo version)

Tin 3 - Revenge of the Sith:
1. Mace Windu (regular ROTS version) & Yoda (HOF version w/ soft goods)
2. Anakin (Evo version) & AT-RT Driver (white and black re-decoed version)

EDIT: Jared has also peeked a glimpse of the Modal Nodes band sets for ANH.

Pics...

I think this stuff actually blows, now that I've had a few hours to consider it.  I'm not expecting much more out of the OT sets, though the Band members are a good choice for a re-issue now.  The inclusion of R2-R9 is the only solid choice in there for the Prequel sets, for longtime collectors anyway, since that was only available as a part of the expensive Queen's Starship years ago.  The rest of this stuff is just re-released crap for the newer collectors who may have missed out the past several years, and of course re-issues of the core characters for the kiddos.  But to the vast majority of us in these forums, these seem majorly worthless (unless you had a hard time finding the Evo sets).

I'll pick up a set of each to keep sealed, but I probably won't be nabbing a second set, as usual, for openers, since they're all straight re-issues, aside from the white AT-RT Driver.  I may grab an extra red R2 set for that droid as well.  Pretty much on par with the dumb DVD 3-packs that they've been putting out quite frequently lately, with just a fancier bit of packaging here with the old-school lunchboxes.

I half-disagree, as unlike the DVD sets, these are mostly rehashing good, recent figures, and repainting some into "new" ones as well (such as the Evolutions-style blue clonetrooper).    That said, I've already posted in another thread that I'm not sure whether I want to get these due to the inclusion of some rather blah figures in each set.

Also, the red astromech seems to be newer than the one that came with the Queen's starship, as it has the sculpted wires (and I think the old one had a different glowy spot on its head).

Digging the Cantina Band set...

Here's the tin, at least:

And I'm guessing these are the other two:

3PO, R2, and Chewie...?

A couple of those tins have me ready to buy...  Namely both the ones with Anakin.

The Jango ALMOST has me tempted because it appears to be more a kitbash to me (or am I just getting old here?) than a repack.

The thing that kills it is the articulation...  Too bad they didn't get crafty and take a VOTC Boba and do a little finegaling with part swapping and kitbashing.  I'd have bought into that in a heartbeat then.

I hope the Modal nodes are at least retooled- the costume for the fan club ones wasn't that accurate. Super articulation would be nice 'course ;D

EDIT-Just been thinking that if Hasbro are giving us so many premium figures( Evo and votc) in these tins surely the old sculpt Bith is increasingly unlikely. Yeah Hasbro love a rehash but you have to ask yourself...why are they bieng so hush  hush about simple rehash? ;)

The thing here (to me anyway) is the packaging.  It's a nice nod to the uber cool vintage two packs and a complete set of these would like nice in a den or collection room.

The potential for a really cool ANH set was there and IMO lost by only doing the Cantina band members.

Would have been a great opportunity to give us our VOTC Luke and Han Stormies.

Maybe we're getting some new figures in the ESB and ROTJ sets....wishful thinking but possible being that they are under wraps for now.

 ???

Thanks for the pics and coverage!

I know what you mean. it's just that i suppose having already done the early bird set they are approaching it from a different angle this time.

Also it's a celebration, surely the Modal nodes are the ultimate intergalactic party band! 8)

It's definately a kitbash, Jesse. The legs are from the Pilot Jango and the torso/head/helmet/jetpack are all from the Kamino Escape/TSC Jango. I can't tell what arms those are though.

After thinking about these overnight, I realized this is just Hasbro's way of getting us to pay $30 for one "new" figure, and we have to take 3 crappy/good repacks. Because of the price, I'm DEFINATELY going to be selective on which of these I buy.

I agree with those that are disapointed.  Mostly re-issues.  I don't buy the figs for fancy packaging.  These tins are a big bust for me.  I reserve my cash for NEW product.

Grrr...  I hate when they pack 1 new figure (especially an army builder) in with a bunch of repacks.

Now, to get that sweet Blue Ep2 Clone Evo Figure or that White AT-RT Driver, I have to buy a whole tin full of crap I already have...  ::)
