One of the (many) things that irritates me is people who decide to lively-up their personal websites with their favorite songs, which (of course) start automatically playing as soon as they're loaded.
This was a popular thing to do about ten years ago, when the internet really took off, only then it was usually with MIDI files. And it was kind of neat the first time you visited a page like that. "Hey, it's playing 'When You Wish Upon a Star'!" at a Disney fansite or whatever, but the novelty soon wore off, oh, after about the third time.
It died off for a few years, but it's had a resurgence in the form of MySpace. Seems that every other MySpace page I come across bombards me with it's owner's favorite song of the moment within a matter of seconds. I usually can't click the stop button fast enough.
And this is to say nothing of the music itself, some of which is fine, and stuff I actually own and enjoy. Of course, a lot of it is crap. But it's not really about the music--it's about the intrusion. Don't get me wrong--it's totally cool to enjoy music, and to want to share it with other people. Share your Clay Aiken song all you want, but let the people make the decision of whether they want to hear it or not. For the love of Pete, don't make the decision for them!
It's totally rude, and disrespectful of your audience.
