How do you get the varnish to move when you have put it on the figures joints, as I am wondering with all these paint jobs you people do (which most are way cool) you must use some form off protective coating to stop the paint coming off the figures you have spent time on.
As I am just starting to think about doing customs myself, and the last thing I want is to spend time on my figures and find that they smudge.
I know the best paints to use are acryllic (and I am familiar to games workshop paints seeing I come from the country they first originated in), and I have heard of the other brands as well testors and so fourth.
Its just the varnishing of the figure, that has me worried.

Use testors dullcote, it only seels the paint and allows the joint to still move.

So testors dullcote is best to seal the paint and keep articulation, thank you.
I would love to use an airbrush but I am still starting to get things together and run a household, these airbrush guns are expensive.

No, Testors dullcote comes in an aerosal can.
Just like spray paint, you just point, shoot, move up, down, do the other side, and your done. Quite simple.
