...Is it hard to work with/mold Sculpey? I've been meaning to get some and begin some custom work, but I've had zero experience working with it.
Can anyone enlighten me?

If you want to get your teeth wet, try using super sculpey or Premo. They are the easiest to work with to get used to the basics of sculpting. Check out these threads over on theJawa for a discussion on various sculpting media...
