Look to the leader.  Or recent lack thereof.  Not naming names or reasons, that's all I'm saying.

But an astute observation nonetheless.

Granted there is only one grand Poohbah, but there are lots of little group leaders like me that do his bidding when he isn't around.

We may not always be posting, but we are watching, ALWAYS.

Now Ill give you this much, there hasn't been much activity lately. BUt there also hasn't been muuch activity on the custom boards at all.

Pointing fingers really isn't the way to go. ::)

At this point we are still waiting to hear from GenCon. We need to find out how much the booth will cost, how much space we get, and how much set up time we have. Until we figure that much out there isn't a whole lot we can do as far as the diorama itself goes. I need to know how much space we have before we can set a firm blueprint and figure out exactly what needs to be made. I also need to see how much set up time we have, so I can determine what all needs to be pre-built and what can be built on site. And if this is going to cost too much then there is no way this will ever even get off the ground so there wouldn't be any point in starting.

On our last sample project half of my dio team were no shows with their entries, I know Brent has been out of the country on business and real busy with work otherwise, but he at least got something done and plans to finish it. I think we are just seeing a drop off in interest, which I hate to say it, but it was inevitable. People were really interested back in July when we started kicking around ideas but if you look through the first UGP thread you'll see 5-10 names of people who showed interest initially but haven't posted here in these threads in months. Like any thing this big and ambitious there is usually a glut of interest in the beginning but when not a lot happens for a few months the interest will die off some. I still think we might be able to pull this off if we can find out the facts from GenCon soon.

There is still stuff going on though, Ennis is running the Rebel figure challenge. And you can always throw together some civilian customs that we can decide whether or not we need later.

The dio samples ended almost two weeks ago, I was waiting to give the next set of assignments until we get the booth specifics, which was supposed to happen in September/Early October, but since that hasn't happened I may have to come up with something else. Perhaps have everyone make trees and rocks, or maybe a smaller building that would fit into the dio regardless of how much space we have.

I'm glad you're enthusiastic about this patreek, unfortunately we are kind of in a holding pattern on the dio until we get more specifics.

I think as we get closer the interest will spark again.  I'd like to see some regular chats again, but they might not occur until closer to the convention date.  One thing that I don't see much more discussion on is the real possibility of getting the booth space comped.  I mean, is there any real possibility of doing this at anywhere NEAR the typical booth space cost?  I bet a lot of us can really only donate customs and not chunks of money anyway.  And I find it hard to believe any non-UGP-involved person would send a paypal donation (though it's just speculation).

My comment wasn't directeds at you patreek, I apologise if you misunderstood it.

But its like I said, the whole board is just going through a lull right now, It will pick up again shortly, it does this from time to time.

It's like Ryan said, our hands are pretty much tied right now till we find something concrete. Our august leader is working on that very thing as we speak, hopefully we will hear something soon.

Til then, there are a couple of projects figure wise that are floating around to keep you busy. in your down time. ;D

Actually, I'm extreemly active in this project. My style is to work behind the scenes thru my group leaders. I'm in the process of getting my local group together for setup and I'm currently dealing with the Lucasfilm and Gencon berucracy about getting us a booth for free. NOT EASY!  I'm coming up with prototype web site designs. All of this and dealing with two kids, a pregant wife and the huge rollout of a multi-million dollar software program. Just because I don't post responses to every post doesn't mean I'm not doing things.

Now if you would like to HELP make this project a sucess instead of just bitching and whining, you let me know. I do have work for you to do.  >:(

I take blame for dropping off the planet for a bit. The 9pm chats do me no good as I get home from work after 6pm and immediatly take our newborn from my wife so she can relax for a bit, then i do homework with my son till about 8pm, then i eat, by the time i settle down, its nearly 10. I remember every chat an hour plus after its over.
I am gradually getting ack to the swing. SO once major decissions are made, I should be able to help more. And our Grand Puba is going through the same as his wife is due in the next couple of months and he has little ones already.  Not making excuses just stating the facts.

I guess you hit the send button a few seconds before me Paul.  I got side tracked with work.

I know what you mean Greg. When I get home, I take care of the kids, get them bathed, homework, bedtime since my wife is having an extreemly difficult time with this pregency. It's hard to concentrate on something as trivel as UGP when the you love is in constant pain and there isn't anything I can do  to help.

Anyway, we desperately need to get this web site up and running even if it is just a page describing with it is and some concept pictures. This would help termendously with my fight with LFL and Gencon.

Dressel Rebel since you have unlimited amounts of time, may be you can design us a web site for our site. The domain is ready it just needs to be filled.

Congrats Paul I had no idea that you were expecting. That is excellent news, and more thatn enough of a reason not to spend your time glued to a computer.
I hope everything turns out OK.

CONGRATULATIONS PAUL!!  Like Ennis, I had no idea you were expecting a child.  Hope all is well with you and your wife.  If you need me to do anything more on the UGP, I'd be more than happy to help, infact, I have a newsletter to write...

I don't think Dressel meant to single anyone out, but is just pointing out that all the leaders (including myself) have not been very active on the boards with this.

As you all probably know I am spending most of my time at Yak because of my duties there.  But I have had very little time for this project too lately - that is mostly because of my work going insane lately.  I barely have time for a simple custom repaint and can't even keep up with my photonovels (which is my favorite part of this hobby).  I pray things slow down for me a LOT in the coming months.

Once we get the details on the booth I'll do my part to promote front page updates as well as chat reminders.

And congrats on the expecting baby coming Paul, I have my first coming in late May/early June.

 :)

Congrats Paul, (and you Justin) That is great news, I hope we'll still see you from time to time, and that we will get this thing up and running for you in your absence.
