TSC: What was the Damage?

With TSC done for the most part, and with 30AC slowly beginning to take over the pegs I thought it might be a good time to bring this up. My collecting mind has changed gears from TSC to TAC, but still I was curious to see how TSC turned out for me, both in terms of how mush I spent, and how much I actually bought. Mainly because I'm interested to see if it will have any bearing on what my TAC will look like. So what about the rest of you? Now that TSC is mostly over how did it affect the old pocketbook? Did you go over or under the amount in dollars, or figures you planned on purchasing? Or did you hit it just about right? I know I still will be making some TSC purchases over the next few years, mainly a few troopers to even out the armies, a few from the Final 22 that I never really saw, maybe finish my VTSC carded collection, and pick up any excess custom fodder as I need it, but I think for the most part I'm about done with it.

Needless to say I think I may have gone slightly overboard with TSC. I had originally planned to hit about 100 figures total before the Final 22 were announced. And as far as individual figures were concerned, I more than doubled (may have even quadrupled) the amount of Sandtroopers intended. I was planning on 24 or so, I may have even said 12 at one point, and ended up with 58. If TSC has any bearing on what my collecting habits may look like for TAC, I'm in trouble. TAC is more appealing to me than most of TSC was, and I think the damned coins are going to sucker me back into being a completist. Anyways TSC hit the wallet pretty hard, I ended up dropping some dough and came out with a whopping 227 Basic (and VTSC) figures, more than doubling my 'limit.' That comes out to about $1568 just for the basic figures, and since I got some VTSC on clearance they averaged out to about $7 a pop. Add to that the vehicles, Unleashed, all the BSG Titaniums, a Sideshow, and the other lines I dabble in, and I don't even want to know the whole total for the year. $1568 is high enough for me.

Very cool idea Ryan! I may have to break out the TSC boxes and do a tally later. I know I went overboard on some troopers myself, but I can't compare to 58 of a single one! I went a little crazy at the end, and decided the kashyyk battle droids and elite troopers needed to be army built a little around that great repaint of the AAT- I think that was 20 some figures right there. Toss in 8-10 AT-AT drivers, 8-10 death star gunners, 14 sandtroopers, and a bunch of clones and my army building probably came close to 100 figures. Actually, with battle packs it probably exceeded 100.
I also ended up keeping more carded versions than I expected. I really liked the background scenes, and kept at least 1 of each trooper carded for that reason.

I'm keeping the TAC at arms length right now. I picked up a McTrooper and galactic marine, and the order 66 with Vader and Bow. I will not buy figures for the coins, unless I am getting them at 50% off or better. I figure most everything we see now will be around a while, and if I wait for sales I can do better than I did last year.

However, that's only $60/week and I know people who spend that in the bar every night.

I count about 122 figures (plus 3 Unleashed and 2 Vehicles) for the year in 2006.  This is a good thread, as I don't think I've ever counted up exactly how many figures I picked up last year.  I kept track of the spending, and on what/etc., but never counted up exactly how many basic figures I purchased last year.  A lot more than I would have thought, and I passed on a fair amount of things (and there are others I'd still like to pick up when I have the extra money).  The VTSC number is a little high for me as well, but pretty much all but my first set were picked up on clearance.  Yikes, that's a lot of figures in a year.

I'm actually surprised I was able to contain myself and not go crazy on the Final 22. I am however still trying to get some of the IE exclusive box sets, I've just been unable to get the money to get all of them so that's why I don't have them yet.
