Clone Wars Wave 1 2009
« Reply #30 on: October 31, 2008, 10:15 PM »
Thanks to Jeff for pointing this out but the new pics of the 212th Clone and Goldie belong over here...   :-X

So to kick off this wave's thread, here we go with some pics.  Yay.

Click the thumbs to check out the photos!

Obviously I'm curious if "Goldie" is a tribute to Pittsburgh sports teams with the black and gold deco...  Filoni's from Pittsburgh so I dunno if I'm reading too much into it and it's all a coincidence or what, but that'd entice me to buy Goldie if it was a "Pittsburgh" Droid. :P

The 212th Clone looks pretty sharp too.  Thanks to our sources for the photos!

Hmmm... I thought Goldie/R3-S6 was more of a very dark green versus black.

You could be right...  It looks black to me, but I very well could be wrong on the color...  It's kind of like the minty colored droid from ANH that people thought was black/white for years till a better photo of it surfaced...

The Clone Wars: The Visual Guide has a picture of Goldie's digital model in it, and it looks pretty black to me, although there is kind of a "marble" effect to it.  The description mentions that he's built from spare parts (it specifically references R3 units usually having clear domes), so I don't know if the marbling is due to the scavenged nature of his construction, or he's intentionally painted so ornately.

The golden dome, however, does have a tint of green to it.  Sure it's not a tribute to the Packers instead, Jesse?  ;)

HEad out to our front page to check out a new carded image of Padme.  I dig the outfit from the movie and her "spy" hood mask thing.  :)

If anybody's interested, Razor's Edge has Wave 4 in stock. The case ratio sucks though.

I'm surprised these haven't shown up in stores yet. I'm not complaining, as I think I could use the time to recover from Christmas.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.  I spotted this wave (minus the Airborne trooper) at our local Target this afternoon.  They had one each of Padme, the MagnaGuard, and "Goldie", and a couple of the 212th Clones.  Nothing but Clone Wars on the pegs at our Target (aside from a lone Yarna) - it was this wave mixed in with a few previous figures (Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Destroyer Droid, Cody).

I found this wave this afternoon.  I think the Clone in space gear is probably the best figure in the wave.

I picked up this wave yesterday and I think the Padme and the MagnaGuard are great figs. The CW MagnaGuard is better than the regular ROTS version I think.

I found Padme, the 212th Clone, and the Space Clone at Target this afternoon, right along with Target's price hike to 7.99 (I thankfully haven't seen the 8.49 that Jayson reported in Minnesota on Yakface).  The 212th Clone actually has a new helmet mold compared to the 5 pack version, so if you're into weird mold changes, there you go.  The Space Clone is easily the best of the three, but mine's hip joints are way too loose, so even though I'm giving up army building thanks to the wonderful economy and Hasbro's rising prices, I'm going to have to grab another one of these.

Padme's weird and feels very fragile due to her size.  Mine has good eyes, but the whole hood/cape/head thing is a little difficult to work correctly.  And, just like every other Padme figure, Hasbro had to use their little clear rubber bands, which has distorted her hand to the point that she can't actually hold said pistol at all anymore.  Yes, I know, hot water fixes that, but for 8 bucks a figure, it shouldn't have to be fixed.

No sign of the MagnaGuard or Goldie, although knowing Target, they'll put them out in the morning.
