DC Collectibles 3.75" Green Lantern Convention Figures

Ok, I'm pretty sure "DC Collectibles" is what DC Direct calls itself now, so I'm posting this here.  Looks like they are starting a new line of 3 3/4" scaled action figures, but apparently they will only be available at conventions (if I'm understanding it right).  They kick things off with a Kyle Rayner/Kilowog 2 pack, which looks pretty nice.  More info at DC Comics' blog.

I am excited for this line because it means competition for Hasbro.  I am a WAY bigger Marvel fan than DC, but that doesn't mean I won't pick up a whole bunch of these figures if they are readily available.  Can't wait to see more on this "line" at SDCC.

Well, it's designed specifically for conventions - from the press release:

"set that will only be available to San Diego Comic-Con attendees"
and
"This new scale will only be available at conventions.  "

Not exactly "readily available", unless you happen to go to SDCC and NYCC every year.


If these were a regular retail line, I'd be ecstatic right now.  SA 3.75" DC figures?  Awesome...  BUT, since it's a line of convention only figures, where I'm probably looking at $50-60 to pick up this set on eBay after the show?  No thanks.

The figures look good, but a convention exclusive line is just another way DC has completely screwed up a surefire way to make money.

Seriously, why does DC not want to deliver a good 3.75 inch line to fans?

DCC 3.75" Green Lantern Display at Comic-Con

Oh man, that is friggin' awesome.  I can hear my wallet groaning already...

The new DCC 3.75″ line MIGHT NOT end up as a con only line.   They want to hear the feedback on that at the show.  If this first set sells really well at the show they will know there is a market for it.  They started out with the Green Lantern universe, but they plan to expand it to their on line stores.  But the “Con Only” is not set in stone.

Best. DC. News. Ever.

If they can get their act together and get these out there at a reasonable price on their new DC on-line store, that would be awesome.  So, so awesome.

A couple updates on this line...

- It sounds like DCE confirmed at NYCC that the line will remain con-exclusive for 2013, but DC is still re-evaluating plans to expand the line in 2014.  Fingers crossed!

- Next up will be Guy Gardner/Larfleeze w/Glommulus, but they didn't announce which show that will be, nor did they announce how many shows they will be selling at next year.

- Thanks to a friend being able to buy me not only the NYCC'12 John Stewart/Atrocitus 2-pack, but also the SDCC'12 Kyle Rayner/Kilowog set, I think I am going to end up all in on this line.  Especially if it goes wide-release and spills into the Bat universe.  I would love, love, love a nice Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Robin, Robin, Gordon, Alfred in 3.75" scale not to mention all the villians! 

- Here's the list of who's left from the SDCC display - Hal, Tomar, Hannu, Isamot, Soranik, Bleeze, and Saint Walker.  Hopefully there is a Sinestro (Yellow), Sinestro (Green), Arkillo, Saphirre Carol, Indigo-1, and more on the way too!

Looks like Guy/Larfleeze will be up for sale at both WonderCon (March) and C2E2 (April).

Oooh...  2013 SDCC Green Lantern 3.75" 4-pack..



A bit over priced compared to the 2-packs and the small stature of Dex, but I'll still be adding this to my BUY list.  I would have preferred to get a Sinestro Corps Sinestro first, but I understand why they are giving us GL Sinestro.  Still no sign of Hal in this line, though I've got a couple I can use as stand ins until they get Hal.
