So you didn't actually watch? My favorite posts. "It's not exactly what I wanted so I won't watch". I like that the good guys aren't infallible and the bad guys aren't pure evil. It's what always kept me away from Marvel and DC even if it turns out that was more my thought than reality. I liked "edited to not have name" the new Sith's reasoning for being who he is. I know a lot of people don't like Disney's take on the Jedi, but it feels way more realistic to how groups that have been in power for a long time end up acting.

I haven't watched it yet because I watch with my kid.  They're away right now, and I'm saving the episode for later.

But one of the things that has bothered me SO MUCH about people's hot takes on the series have to do with their preconceived notions - most of those formed before the first episode had even dropped on Disney+.  People went into this wanting to dislike it because of the showrunner or the lead actor.  And I maintain that's on the so-called "critics" who went into this new series with an agenda of their own.

I like that the good guys aren't infallible and the bad guys aren't pure evil. It's what always kept me away from Marvel and DC even if it turns out that was more my thought than reality. I liked Qimir's reasoning for being who he is. I know a lot of people don't like Disney's take on the Jedi, but it feels way more realistic to how groups that have been in power for a long time end up acting. At most it makes THESE Jedi look not great.

I think the Marvel VS DC theme has some bearing here.  I always found the Marvel characters, heroes and villains alike, to be more grounded.  More flawed.  More human.  While DC characters seemed more like an archetype than a real person who deals with real problems.  It's led me to feel like the Marvel characters were more relatable for me.

I think an exploration of how the Jedi have become aloof and out of touch needed to be done.  It was always present in the PT, but very much as subtext.  This series has put that concept front and center, and it can be unsettling to see the imperfections of your heroes.  Those flaws and frailties make it more clear why the Jedi Order was doomed to fail.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new episode.

Sorry Nick for having the sith's name in there. I edited it but see it's still in your quote of mine.

No worries!  I had kind of figured out who it was already before the episode dropped.  Check my post with the really small text!

Yeah, but would anyone continue to watch something they don’t like? I forced myself to watch the first four and they just got worse and worse. I’m not one of those anti Disney nuts, I tried to give it a chance but it’s one of the worst scripted shows I’ve ever seen. The characters are all over the place from one episode to the next and the plot is just nonsensical.

Maybe there will be some big payoff with Tenebrous or Plagueis showing up at the end, but short of that I don’t really care anymore. I just hope this is a one off season and not an ongoing thing.

You made a pretty bold statement about episode five because of what Reddit said. Regardless you do you. I'd probably finish the final four episodes of a Star Wars show I was already four episodes into, but that's just me.

Like I said, I was leaning second worse live action show, but not all this hyperbole about it's "the worst scripted stupidity where the Jedi suck". To each their own. You're obviously not the only one who hates it.

I’ll be interested to see if anything comes of this series.  I still really don’t know where its going and the journey hasn’t been that interesting, but its not awful either.

The only thing that has really bugged me is the opening battle where Mae killed the Jedi Master with knives.

I'll agree with you guys that this show's pacing and excitement level is not setting the world on fire, but I'm willing to see this ride to the end and judge then.

I have to admit that I liked the last two episodes a lot more than the first few. There are so many different things we still need to learn - who is the stranger's old master? Does the stranger have a current master, if so who?  What is Sol hiding?

Going to be a lot packed into these last two episodes...

Spoilers ahead so don't read anymore if you have not seen the episode:

My guess is Vernestra.  She is the embodiment of everything wrong with the Prequel Era Jedi.  She's more concerned with politics than the will of the Force, she's deliberately hiding things from the rest of the order like she's trying to cover-up a mistake she made.  Case in point: when Mog starts to hypothesize that Sol might be the fallen Jedi and killed everyone, she does nothing to dissuade him even though she knows Mae has a master.  Some shady **** going on there.
This is the way.

I have spoken.

My guess is Vernestra.

That is my guess too.  Plus the scar on his back seems to be more than a standard saber slash and that would line up with her crazy whip-saber.

I've been thinking that Qimir might have been Vernestra's padawan at some point.  And I think she's trying to cover that up.

I am not convinced that he's actually one of the Sith, despite things that he's said.  There was a music cue used with him that sounded like something related to Kylo Ren.  And his helmet is reminiscent of something that the leader of the Knights of Ren wore before Kylo Ren took over that sect of Dark Side users.  Could the Knights of Ren pre-date the rise of the Empire?  I suppose it's possible.

I didn't mind the "real" story, but why spend a full second episode on the same basic story? A bit frustrating.
