First impression after watching the first couple of episodes is this is not a bad show at all. Like Ryan noted above, I had low expectations going in, but was pleasantly surprised. It is definitely family/kid oriented show and very much has a Goonies or 1980s kids adventure movie vibe. Good athletics and set designs and the kids acted well and weren’t annoying. Lots of callbacks and Easter eggs as well. The opening sequence with the pirate raid had an ANH vibe to it, right down to some of the dialogue. And did anyone catch the kids watching those holographic circus performers from the SW Holiday Special?

The strangest parts for me were seeing what amounts to a regular middle class neighborhood/town and school in the Star Wars universe. It seemed too earth like in a way, but then why couldn’t something like that exist on some planet in that universe? Also, apparently “Star Wars” style action figures of Jedi and villains are an in-universe thing now ;D
Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it binds the galaxy together ;D

I really enjoyed the first two episodes and the whole vibe of the show.  I feel like I'm already all-in on the mystery at the core with the whole At Attin planet.

Wim knows a heck of a lot about Jedi considering that most Jedi stuff was fully wiped out post-Order 66.  How does he have so much Jedi info, not to mention his dad gave him Old Republic dataries as coins/lunch money.  Sure feels like that is a planet that is a bit lost in time or cut off from the galaxy - all reinforced by the way the pirates react to their "lost" planet.  Looking forward to hopefully getting more about the planet's history and 'treasure'.

did anyone catch the kids watching those holographic circus performers from the SW Holiday Special?

I really like how Filoni/Favreau keep dropping Holiday Special easter eggs/items into the Mandoverse shows.  It's like they are bound and determined to drag that HS into full continuity somehow!  :D

After watching this, I realized that SM-33 is nod to Smee.  Also another brief glimpse of a certain blink and you miss him TFA character (if it is indeed the same guy).

Same as others - I liked it too but I had low expectations.

How involved are Filoni (and Favreau) in this?  I know they're listed as executive producers but this feels new and fun and not like his usual stuff.  So much of Filoni's stuff seems so over imbued with Campbell's hero journey / samurai symbolism that a lot of the new Star Wars stuff just feels so heavy.  Sometimes I think Filoni feels he needs to out George Lucas George Lucas.

Sure there is still some Goonies hero journey stuff in this but its so lighthearted.  So far I'm really digging it.

Chances we'll get more than the Jude Law character as an action figure in 3.75" scale?  So far I don't see any obvious repaints available.

I sat down to watch this last night and realized we don’t have D+ anymore.  :-[

I thought i still had access through Hulu or something but apparently not.

Hopefully they will run some kind of free trial or holiday promotion where I can catch up on these.

How involved are Filoni (and Favreau) in this?

Sounds like they were there as mentors and to help guide them through the LFL process but mainly they just let Jon Watts do his thing...

So far I really like it and am glad that Filoni isn't overly involved.  I'm looking forward to how this plays out.

My theory is that this is some type of meta fever dream.  At Attin?

I was finally able to watch these last night and mostly agree with what everyone else has said. Not bad, episode 1 didn’t feel very Star Warsy but the second one sure did.

I liked Space Werewolf, but didn’t find the other characters particularly appealing outside of Joe Na and KB. I wish Wim was smarter and braver and Elephant boy wasn’t such a whiner, and Fern is just a bossy jerk. (I know they will grow and change throughout the show) And what a tool Wim’s Dad was. What kind of jackwagon is too busy to read a bedtime story to their kid? Geez, dude.

I am curious to see where it goes and feel like it is a good space for them not to mess with any of the other continuity that is out there. (Please don’t have ex-Jedi throwing people out of airlocks though, that is just not believable)

I'll be interested to see if they get to a backstory on At Attin.

I've not read any internet speculation but it could be an Old Republic banking planet.  Maybe its an old pirate lair with lots of loot.  Either way it seems to be fairly Utopian without much need for money and hidden from the rest of the universe through its stealth satellite barrier.  Wim didn't seem to have any sense for what his credits were worth and it seems like they're still worth a lot outside of At Attin.

The timeline is only 9 years after the fall of the Empire, so I'm guessing whatever it is its existed that way for a reasonable amount of time while the Empire was around and during at least the latter part of the Old Republic.

The pieces are starting to come more into focus.  For instance, Wim and Neel know about the Jedi and Jedi temples.  During the reign of the Empire they suppressed all information about the Jedi.  I was also surprised to hear the fry cook or someone at the food stand refer to Wim's credits as Dataries! IIRC, that's the same kind of currency that Qui-Gon initially offered to Watto in TPM, but he said that Republic credits were no good to him on Tatooine.  Between that and the Barrier that people were talking about, it seems like At Attin may have been isolated from the Empire completely!  This could be why it could be such a challenge for the kids to find their way home.

Spoilers…

Fun episode.  I like the combo of learning a little of the backstory of At Attin and the reveal that Jude Law’s character is also a pirate.  I wonder if he is an ex-Jedi as well.

I recognized the name Crimson Jack from the old Marvel days.  A quick google search makes me think that they’re probably not related as the Marvel version was killed by Han Solo.

So far I’m pretty entertained by this show.

I lobbied so hard for a Marvel Star Wars #15 Han Solo/Crimson Jack comic pack back in the day.  That was my very first Star Wars comic.  Loved the visuals.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if they are doing a little ret-con thing or if "Crimson Jack" is just another alias Jod Na picked up, like the "Captain Silvo" name he was using in episode 1.

So far so good.  Really enjoying this show so far.  Good pacing, interesting mystery, fun adventure, mix of new and old aliens.  All good.

Something tells me he's had many different names.  I would not be shocked if someone calls him Jack Sparrow at this point.
