I was somehow able to order everything, but it was confusing.  I was 10 minutes late getting in, was able to find Obi-Wan and the Stormtrooper re-issue off the front page.  Had a pain trying to find the multi-packs... had to individually search for them, but as I was searching for the Trooper 3-pack, the suggestion bar had the Stormtrooper below with a "sold out" note on it.  Put the multi-packs in the cart and checked out figuring I'd have to adjust my order for the Stormtrooper, but everything went through.

There was a ten or fifteen minute period where the site was all goofy, odds are no one was buying them up in that window.

If that’s true it probably means what Jeff said is right… lower preorder totals so they can charge what they need to later depending on tariffs.  They’re not going to only make 2,300 of those.

I feel bad for folks who missed out.  Lots of unnecessary anger and stress.

Hasbro rarely ever takes pre-orders for 100% of a manufacturing run.  You can lose a cargo container, have items damaged in transit.  If you've sold 100% of a run and something bad happens, you have to cancel orders, people get pissed.  Heck, McFarlane just had a whole truck load of figures stolen that led to cancelled customer orders and it went over very poorly.

In this case, it sure feels like Hasbro cut way back on the number available for pre-orders.  Probably trying to protect themselves from tariffs without having to raise prices yet.  Save more for sale once they get here and the tariff cost is known and the price can be reset with some "price includes unavoidable tariff surcharge" or something like we've seen others do.

Hasbro seems to be doing all they can to avoid posting price hikes as long as they could.  It sure seems to be coming though with the Pulse site having the "Lock-in pre-order pricing today. Current pre-orders end May 9th at 12:01 EDT" text.

The whole thing could backfire on them of course.  People can't get a pre-order in, they get frustrated and walk away.  The alternative is to raise prices to cover the "unknown" of the tariffs that might be in place in the Fall and then people still get upset for the price hike.  It's kind of hard for Hasbro to do anything that isn't going to piss off someone.

I am not a Pulse Premium member. I went on at 1:15 EST to make sure I was ready at 2 and also because I wasn't 100% sure if the exclusive window. It let me order both the Stormtrooper 3pk and the Cantina 4pk.

Before I finished checking out it gave me an error message that something in my cart was unavailable. It gave no indication as to what, and wouldn't let me remove anything or. I closed that window and started over. This time the 3 pack was sold out. So I ordered 2 of the Cantina 4pks and was able to complete checkout. Minutes later this were sold out too.

I was hoping they would come back in stock at 2PM but they didn't.

It was all really weird. If they had less than 5,000 of each available that is weird. You don't turn on the factory for less than 20,000 units. You surely don't charge less than MSRP per figure if you are running a fraction of a regular run.

More will come, but probably only after whatever "new preorder system" is up. I assume it will include the tariff fees line to cover their bottom line.

You can add those Pulse Premium items to your cart regardless of whether or not you have the membership.  That exclusivity is enforced at checkout.  You have to log in as a member to get that benefit while checking out.

Like I said though, I am not a Pulse Premium Member and they sold me 2 of the Cantina 4 packs at 1:20 yesterday. There was something wrong.

In the TVC Facebook group one of the admins is stating that the Stormtrooper 3-pack was limited to 2300 units, and the Cantina set was limited to 3500 units for the May The Fourth drop on Hasbro Pulse.  Those numbers seem really low to me.

Yeah, that'd be crazy low for the total production run. That would be a substantially smaller run than the HasLab Cantina pack-ins. I've gotta hope there will be more in a few weeks/months, even if they end up being $10-$20 more with the tariffs.

It still boggles my mind that a pre-order would sell out.  How much money did Hasbro leave on the table?

I think Hasbro was likely trying to play ball with Lucasfilm in offering something for May The Fourth, but with limits.  Especially if Hasbro might wind up absorbing some of the tariff costs on those orders.
