I've always called it Legos too because that seems to mean more than one.  But I believe krisvds is correct and the proper terminology is Lego.

don't forget it is a european company,n and NEVER where I came, they called them legos ..... :)

I even asked a LEGO Employe, and it is said in their press kit.

O, and thatnkjs for correcting it :)
