Why I would buy this, if they have a R5 unit, I'd be all over it, especially at $30, the figure bugs me but I'e bought more (Y-Wing) for less (no astromech and higher price)

Ugh, I thought the paper droid thing in the droid socket was a mockup for an eventual figure. I guess it's a "place your droid here" sign.

I would have rather had a cool droid repaint and a paper pilot instead of the poo they put in there.  ::)

Ahh, feels good to complain again, wasn't sure what to do with all the cool '04 stuff on show.  ;)

it looks as if they're trying to play fair or something. since the dagobah xwing came with r2, they're making this come with a pilot.  like a trade off or something. my question is: is they're even an r5 toy out there????

Even though its more or less based on the droid in the ride, the Star Tours R5 droid is pretty ideal for a redeco. Certainly would be better than a head popped on a scrawny Luke body, me thinks.  :)

It should be an easy custom job. You'd just need to add the correct designation stripes (Red-5 has 5 stripes, etc) to the wings and the correct pattern to the horizontal "racing" stripe on the hull - either broken (as on Luke's) or solid. Then there's the matter of a droid for the droid socket.

It's easy to apply custom stickers/decals to make the appropriate ships. Somewhere I have a large .psd of the sticker sheet from the PFX Xwing that I changed several times for Biggs and Wedge ships. I just customized the stickers and printed them on a solid adhesive-backed paper, cut, and applied. Instant ride for Wedge.

I'd love to hear how the ship compares to the PFX and Dagobah versions...  :)
