LFL Summit...OT DVD's and a TV Show !?!?!!

I have been really curious about this announcement too....there was so much rumor/speculation that it might be about the marketing campaign for Episode III, or to announce the OT on DVD, or something along those lines.  I really hope that we hear some sort of report soon, and maybe find out some good news.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the Clone Wars stuff...since the toon debuts tomorrow.  The OT on DVD would be guess #2 and something Episode III related would be third

Blurb from AICN's Lucasfilm licensee shindig at the Presidio this morning:

One little fun fact - seems that they have TWO Star Wars television ideas floating around the ranch...one would be animation and the other - LIVE ACTION.  These television projects would be in 2006.

Interesting...  I was going to post this in the movies section, but I don't know if it applies to the OT or PT...?    So we can just chat about it here!

What would you guys want to see?  Animated, or live?  OT story lines, PT stories, or something completely EU like SOTE or CW?  Actually, whatever it winds up being, technically it would still be EU...  

I'd take live action over a cartoon, but only if they went all out and did it nicely.  Perhaps the CW shorts will change my mind on that though.  OT era over PT anyday for me, though the more Jedi and lightsabers the better, which might mean PT.

What do you folks think will be done, and what would you like to see?

I've heard rumors that a Han/Chewie Cartoon was in the works...as I brought up in our prequels section though too, there is a huge gap of 20 years between III and IV that is ripe for EU plucking

I hope that all of this news turns out to be true, it all sounds great to me.  Hopefully we will get some confirmation soon on the OT DVD's.  You would think if this information is true, and leaking out, that they would go ahead and announce them...we'll see.  I'm not sure what I would rather have if they go the television route.  I'm just excited to hear that it is a possibility, to continue SW a little longer.  I sometimes think that if they are doing something, with classic trilogy characters, that cartoon might be better because it might be difficult seeing Han, Luke, Leia, etc. played by different people if it was "live action".  Live action could be neat too though.  You never know I guess, we'll have to see.  Maybe its not all ending as soon as we thought .

One thing I noticed in the AICN blurb, they never actually said it was OT DVD's, although it most likely is...they just said " then the original Star Wars trilogy is being released September 2004".  I would guess it would be DVDs though, I know we all hope so .

Live action could potentially be cool, but could likewise be disastrous. I think a cartoon would be less risky. If they could do it well though, live action would be cool.

I want stories that don't try to directly address specific goings on in the movies. I dont want background stories for characters, etc, it seems like it ruins the overall experience. I especially dont want to see live action with existing characters, unless they manage to bring in the same actors (which is highly unlikely for the majority of them). There has to be more to the universe than the Clone Wars and the struggle of the Imperials and the Rebels. I want to know about that.

Just my opinion, but I think a SW TV show spells one thing and one thing only:

D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R  

A badly-done TV show would just diminish the series further, finishing the job that Lucas started with the prequels.
If this is true, the fact that it was announced at a licensing summit is all too appropriate.  It seems that it's all about "the brand" and money now
