Yeah, more input would be great. Where the heck is everyone? 
Let me count the ways...
1. I don't know much, so really still reading and learning
2. Not currently focused on picking up vinty stuff for a number of reasons
a) I believe they are cheaper to buy during summer. Example: my trilogo biker scout in bloody immaculate condition I picked up for around $26 I just saw one in worse condition go for about triple that.
b) too much modern stuff and I'm trying (desperately) to keep the cc balance on the downward swing rather than the other way around
c) I need to finish the basic, loose figure collection first before drifting into this rarified air.
d) Wayne spoiled me
For my Christmas gift he sent me a couple of vinty figs still on card (Ackbar and 8D8). The cards were beaten and as I understood it, they were meant to be opened. I finally relented and did just that and must say, compared to much of the crap I've picked up in lots, getting minty fresh figures is so sweet. Clean, scuff free figures absolutely complete and with stiff joints are just so damn nice. I'm now looking for MOSC (S being sh!tty) figures to open. This is not to say I haven't received some really sweet pieces in lots, but what a difference and no upgrading necessary. Mint in bubble, no card would be ideal. Lunacy I know, but just seems like such a nice way to go, albeit more $$
