You the seller have my money, I fulfilled my end of the deal, so post positive feedback.

As a buyer I don't consider the deal complete until I have let the seller know the item has been recieved.

Normally I do this through feedback as the vast majority of my purchases are without incident. This, for me is easier than finding the email or typing out an ebay message from a link on the finished auction. Controversially, I ditched the idea of feedback being a reciprocal points scoring system a few years back. I don't care that the seller gets +1 and I may not got nothing in return. They know I have the item and the deal was okay - so I have fully completed my end of the deal. If they don't leave feedback then I don't go back.

There is a movement in the works against eBay and it's
new policies. Apparently much is not all of the
changes are the brainchild of the new CEO. In hopes of
getting their attention and the removal of this new
CEO, people are urging everyone to strike at eBay by
not selling, buying, listing or any other type of
activity on their site.
Here's a vid on it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23TomS5--nQ

I very likely will participate in the strike. I don't
have much I'm looking to buy right now anyway, so it
should be relatively easy for me. I think I can let a
week go by without trying to buy something.

I'm not a seller, but I don't like the changes they
are making. It really does hurt sellers the most, but
all eBay users in general.

Interesting video, though very one-sided imo.  Anyone have a better summary of the mentioned increase in rates for sellers?  This seems to me like a case of trying to fix something that's not broken - none of the new rules really seem to make sense, or at least the implied benefit to Ebay is not well explained.   :-\  All the same, I can avoid using ebay for a week to help out the cause.

I am officially in all of my current listing end on the 17th. The fee increase alone are absurd and make it so hard to sell and make a profit and harder to give buyers really good deals.

I am in on the strike!

What alternate auction sites are there? I type "star wars" into ubid and came back with nothing. That's pretty sad.

Try http://www.ebid.net/

The UK site is just full of crap that nobody wants - however - free listing means you can list as much crap as you like and it doesn't cost you a thing  8)

If your item sells the final value fee in the UK is 3%

The strike has begun!

I tried to go and sign up for ioffer because you can actually transfer your ebay feedback score which is sweet because you do not have to start from scratch. The site has been bogged down all day. I find this to be a good sign that for once a worldwide ebay strike may actually yeild some results. Peopel are truly fed up the changes that have gone too far. The coverage in the news on TV/Web has been the best I have ever seen in terms of ebay strikes.

Anyone else think this might work?....Or care?

Do you think ebay is seeing any reduction of traffic and sales this week? How will we ever know if there is any kind of effect or not?

You can follow the numbers here http://db.powersellersunite.com/auctionsitewatch.php/

To put this into a proper context - the one day promotion ebay.com had last week led to a spike in auctions from 12 mill to 16 mill. The numbers have only been dropping since Sunday.

I've been trying to view the charts on powersellersunit.com site and it keeps sending me back to the main page. I've created an account and logged in but it keeps doing that. Everytime I check, ebay keeps going down.

I think the load on the site has taken its toll - the numbers haven't updated in 6 hours since I first checked them this morning. So the stats are over 12 hours out now.

It would be more interesting to see the numbers today as it is when the 7 day listings from last weeks promotion come off.

Ebay listings are down 12.79% as of 1:05am today!

To really make the impact it needs to drop below 12 million listings. Only 900k to go, getting close! It's actually working this time! There is some hope to save ebay we knew and the small sellers!

This just in as of 11:05 am today.....

-17.73%

(My famous yellow 14 point text)
Number of Listings: 12,407,716

407,717 to go to make the real impact it has to drop below 12 million to make a dent!

Hopefully the auctions will approach 10 million, although what happens on the 26th will also be interesting.

It hasn't been as big over here in the UK so I don't think the number of auctions here has been as affected.

We have also had no official info sent to us directly about any feedback changes or changes to the paypal set up.

Only the cheaper listing fees / final value fee increases has been announced over here and came into force yesterday.

I just went to bidville and typed star wars into the search and got a search error! Too many records returned. Why can't someone build a decent bidding site on the caliber of ebay? Any other bidding site I try, returns few to no records or just crashes when I type star wars!!! I sware, ebay is the only one that actually works correctly.
