Strange Laws
« on: March 22, 2003, 09:02 PM »
They're strange! They're real! They're THE LAW!

One of my favorites, haling from Southbend, Indiana:

Quote
It is illegal to make a monkey smoke a cigarette
Although, I guess it is perfectly legal to allow a monkey to smoke a cigarette under its own free will. What about apes? Can you force them to smoke a cigarette? And what about cigars? Can you force monkeys to smoke cigars? What if they're organ grinders? They need a break every now and then; is it ok to offer them a cigarette, so long as they are not feeling coerced into smoking it? Are cigarette manufacturers allowed to target primates in their ads? Are they required to pay damages to the owners of primates who succumb to smoking related illnesses?

Here are some other humorous Indiana laws:
Quote
The value of Pi is 4, and not 3.1415.
"Spiteful Gossip" and "talking behind a person's back" are illegal
Mustaches are illegal if the bearer has a tendency to habitually kiss other humans.
No one may catch a fish with his bare hands.
One may not sniff glue.
Baths may not be taken between the months of October and March.

I'm glad Im a showering man! :)

Holy Cow! No bathing, no bare handed fish catching? These are hilarious, I can't believe that these are in fact laws. It would be interesting to research and find out how these came into play. I have heard some funny ones for Ohio, but can't remember them.

Be careful on your math homework kids, you might end up in jail! 3.14

Technically, isn't it always between October and March? Unless you are in October or March in which case you cant really be "between" the two months. Wow, a loophole! Technically you can never take baths in Indiana!

There are some other ones, but we will spare the kids ;)
