College Football 2005-2006

Two months from now, we'll be in the thick of the College Football season...so I'm pretty stocked for the new season.

With Lou Holtz beining replaced by Steve Spurrier, it looks as though USC will have a pretty strong season. We started out pretty strong last year, but fizzeled out in the end...losing to our rival Clemson yet again. Even had a fancy brawl in the game too that prevented us from going to a bowl game  .

It will be interesting to see how well Texas' offense will do without Cedric benson, but I have faith that Vince Young will continue his awesomeness. There's also a great new QB who has been with us a few seasons who showed some skill during a Spring practice game I went to, Matt McCoy. Big D (defense) will continue to knock the crap out of the other team's offense.

This season looks to be about the same as the past several seasons, with close games against rivals and blowouts against lesser teams. The only possible loss will come in October to the toothless hicks known as the Sooners.

Also, the NCAA 2006 video game comes out Tuesday. I'll have to look into getting that.

After a very down season last year (5-6), I'm hoping the Huskers can return to respectability.  No one is expecting title contention obviously, but a winning record or a 8-9 win season would be outstanding.  Lots of new faces this year that will hopefully fit into our new "West Coast" style offense better than many of last year's players.  Bill Callahan era: Year 2 begins on September 3.

So Zod, do you think there'll be any qualms about playing against Spurrier on the Florida side?

I'm confident that everyone will want to kick his ass.

Other than some staff and maybe a few guys who were red shirts in 2001 or whatever year it was that he left in, there probably aren't very many people on the team at least that worked with him in any capacity.

And when he came back, he bolted for Sout Carolina - so he's fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Seriously though, I'd hate to think that USC payed this much for a dud (even though that wouldn't be suprising). I'd actually like to see our team rated in the top 25, and that hasn't happened since 2002.

Does Michigan even have a defense?  I'll be at the Big House next weekend with my EMU jersey on and if U of M keeps this up, this MAC team could have the first Big 10 upset of the year!!

The only consolation out of this was that Texas beat Ohio State, though I have to admit, it was a much better game to watch than the Wolverines.
