Can anyone explain to me how the Yahoo player rankings work?!
It is a complicated formula. I read someplace how they do it, I'll see if I can find that link for you.
Suffice it to say that Demitra is ranked higher because when compared to previous performances and expectations, this season he is over performing. In other words, since Demitra is over-performing at 9pts, he gets a #3 rank, and since Alfie is "underperforming" at 9 points he gets a #59 rank.
It will happen all season long, so don't put too much stock in those rankings. Here's another good example:
#35 - Marc Chouinard (MIN) 5-3, 8pts
#36 - Peter Forsberg (PHI) 0-10 10 pts
Which of those two guys has the better scoring potential for the rest of the year (hint: it aint Chouinard

).
The whole thing is really bogus...
