The Vintage Collection / Re: Vintage Rumors

Fantastic! Now that's a wave. Three never before released characters, and three desperatley needed resculpts, one being a highly requested troop builder. Pretty happy with the lot of them.

Bastila-Whoo, being that i'm a huge KOTOR fan this is really nice to see, though somwhat bittersweet as she'll be lonely on the shelf without the rest of the Ebon Hawk crew.

Barris Offee - Looks cool, more arena jedi are always welcome.

Weequay Skiff Master - Kinda pofy looking, but I like it. Another unique weequay for the palace never hurt.

Dr. Evazan - Wow, finally, an Evazan that actually looks good! Can't wait to see this guy all painted up.

Rebel Fleet Trooper - Well there we go, he looks like he should please many people. Here's hoping Hasbro cranks out a whole bunch of these guys with new heads, maybe a future battle pack or somthing.

Bom Vimdin - Whoo! My most highly requested figure since they released Hem Dazon and he's every bit as great as I'd hoped. Now that Bom is coming I need to find a new cantina alien to champion for.

Really excited for this wave, can't wait!

The cantina is my focus, followed closely by Jabba's palace. Both are part of a much broader aliens focus. Loves me smealiens most of all, although I do buy pretty much everything as well.

My pegs are mostly swarming with Cloud Car Pilots, AT-AT Commanders and Dacks. The others seem to sell decently enough though. I think Hasbro might be able to solve a lot of the glut problems if they just learn to plan that first wave out better. Fill it with really high demand figures that everyone wants, preferably in multiples, because wave 1 always ends up being overshipped and causing pegwarmers that sit for a long time.

I don't really think this line is doing too badly, though I'm definitley getting sick of seeing clones in this line. I'm perfectly fine leaving the clones to Clone Wars and Legends. They could use those slots on much more interesting figures that I'm sure no one would complain about. Why not stick the 2nd Utai in there, or pack that shaven hoth trooper in there, or even pack in a "new" Hoth trooper with the old body and a new head. The same could be done for the Endor Trooper, put out a clean shaven Endor trooper. That'll probably sell a lot better that Gree for the third time over the last couple years.

As far as Bric goes, I kind of side on the fact that many of the mail away forms weren't very clear/didn't mention a figure at all for the reason Bric hasn't done as well according to Hasbro. I've bought a whole bunch of the new clone wars figures and not one of them came with a mail away form that mentioned Bric at all, just the battle mat game. I know I personally waited until this was cleared up by Hasbro before actually mailing away for it since I had no interest in paying for just the battle mat. I imagine this is much the same for the casual kid/parent buyers as well. I think this little error might have hurt Bric a lot more than any lack of interest.

The Bullpen / Re: Thor: The Toys!

I was just thinking about this line for a minute and I got to wondering how they're going to handle the comic series, assuming they're doing it siilarly to what they've done with the other marvel movies. Unlike Iron Man and Cap, I can't think of too many Thor variations, theres classic, modern, ages of thunder, king and ultimate. Is there anything else? The way Hasbro seems to do things, they could easily knock all of those out in the first wave and have no more Thors for the rest of the line.

These were on sale here in Canada this week so I finally grabbed the rebels set. (getting the Imperial one for x-mas.) The rebels set really is fantastic though, great value, especially on sale. Even K-3PO which I wasn't really that jazzed about turned out great. I'm very tempted to pick up another set while it's on sale, the two rebels look distinct enough from one another if you swap the headgear, and K-3PO is easily painted in another color. Really pleased overall. One of the best exclusives in years.

Hugo Weaving is Red Skull, so I'm guessing he'll eventually lose his face at some point in the movie. Haven't heard anything about the Hydras though. Would be cool.

This is a nicely done, but very boring wave, which pretty much sums up my feelings on every Vintage wave save the Jedi one. Nicely sculpted but very boring. I wonder if there is a 7th unshown figure for this group. Was really hoping Bom would be in with this group.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Revenge of the Sith - 5th Anniversary

I remember seeing this one for the first time on opening night, and while i enjoyed it, I was also kind of disappointed. I made the mistake of reading the novel first, which had so many cool lines and scenes that never  showed up in the film. All that aside, Sith has grown on me quite a bit since then and is the only prequel movie that I'll pop in to watch every now and then. It works really well aside from a few really cringe worthy lines and scenes. I still can't sit through that balcony scene where Anakin and Padme talk about the baby all googly eyed with each other. I make it my buisness to skip forward through that part. Other than that though it is pretty solid and fun.

I wonder if the lack of really interesting characters left from some movies is the reason they're moving away from the movie themed waves going forward. Kind of a shame they're not hitting out one last ANH themed wave though. I bet they could really blow the collector community away with that one. Throw in a new Fleet Trooper, Tarkin, Bom Vimdin, Evazan and Ponda and a few other highly requested figures. Repack the Resurgance Luke, and update Leia and you've got a pretty exciting group a la ROTJ wave.

TV-9D9 / Re: The death or disappearance of Ahsoka?

I'd like to see her go down in a rather poetic and tragic way. For example, she follows up a lead on her own late at night, and finds Dooku and Palpatine meeting down in the Courascant Underworld or something. She's shocked to discover that Palpatine is the sith lord they'd been looking for and hastily retreats to inform Anakin and the council. As she's making her way through the underbelly of the city, she realizes she's being stalked by the two Sith lords, they sensed her presence and are going to make sure she doesn't ruin their plans. After a lengthy chase, she makes it to the temple entrance way, thinking she lost them. As she runs toward the temple, Anakin senses she's in danger and quickly heads off to find her.
Just as Ashoka is nearing the temple entrance, Sidious drops in front of her from the shadows and runs her through. He quickly discards his Sith gear and bends over the mortally wounded Ashoka putting on his best concerned face, just as Anakin and a few other Jedi exit the temple. Anakin quickly rushes up and asks the Chancellor what he's doing here and what happened. Palpatine explains that he was on his way to discuss some war stuff with the council when he saw a Sith assassin drop from the shadows and stab Ashoka. Anakin cradles Ashoka in his arms as she desperately tries to get the words that Palpatine was the Sith out, but she's too weak to form the words. The whole while she stares frightfully at Palpatine who is standing behind Anakin, with a comforting hand on his shoulder. He smiles sinisterly at her and she dies. Anakin rages out and wrecks whatever is nearby. Windu is present for this display of passion and anger and it disturbs him greatly, prompting his distrust of Anakin in episode 3. Anakin once again blames himself for a loved ones death, due to his not sensing the danger soon enough or being fast enough to reach her in time, thus bringing him one step closer to wanting the power to save people from death. I imagine this scenario might traumatize the kiddies though. What's everyone think?

TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Three Discussion Thread

I prefer to think of this Greedo as Greedo Sr. rather than the dude from ANH. I suppose in the big picture it isn't really that big a deal though. I thought the blue people episode was ok as well, though I couldn't help but think it was kind of suck uppish, with how invincible and brilliant they made Papanoida. I missed last weeks though I don't mind the occasional political intrigue episode, although they have demonstrated in the past that they can do these types of episodes and still maintain a certain level of action/adventure.

On another note, after watching the first two clone centric episodes this season, I must say I'd really like to see some of the final episodes of the series take place during Order 66/the purge. The clones in this show are so much more than the faceless  duplicates from the prequels, it'd be really interesting to see order 66 from their point of view. I'm sure some of them weren't that keen on the order, maybe had doubts but followed the order anyway and have to live with that, or maybe some desert. Lots of interesting places they could go with those stories.

Collect All 92! / Re: Darth Vader

I pulled out the ol VOTC Vader from storage the other day, and despite newer versions being superior in mostly every way, I have to say, I really like the balljointed head he's got going. I know Vader probably couldn't look up or down in the movies, but I think it adds a lot of personality to the posing. I think he might be the best non removable helmet Vader out there at the very least. Plus he can hang his lightsaber from his belt.

I know eh? Actually getting a Wal-Mart exclusive in Canada is pretty amazing, but to get it cheaper than the US? We're lucky if we get it for close to the same price and not some crazy mark up.

So those who have the defense on Hoth set, are the rebels headgear swappable? I can't really tell from the photos.
