no doubt we were lucky to get that call and the chance to win. True on the D. man i'm glad to get this one :)

Broncos should have lost that game.  I only saw the highlights, but they won an earlier challenge on a call that should not have been reviewable and Cutler's fumble at the end was not a forward pass (seeing as how the Ref said he made the wrong call afterwards).

Looks like the team to beat this year is A. Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.  Dropping 48 large on Detroit? Ouch.  2 and 0 baby!

Just an FYI for those that haven't heard.  The Ravens/Texans game that was moved to Monday night is now complete cancelled and they'll play later in the year.   If you have any Texans or Ravens, you might want to swap them out for other players this week.

When I was 15 I sold concessions at college football stadiums.  I had to wear a silly paper hat (which came off the second I was out of sight of the concession stand) and yell "Coke Here!" for a good three hours.  Totally thankless job and hardly paid anything - we made $2 for every flat of 20 cokes we sold.

Well, it is possible that a lot of Gamestop's don't know that they have them.  We have a store here in Mpls that gave out a couple of figures with pre-orders earlier in the week.  I went to get mine yesterday and they told me they didn't have them, but would give them out when people came in to get their games.  i called back today to discuss the situation and the same person who told me they had none confessed that they do have them in stock, but that her employees mistakenly gave them out ahead of time and wouldn't be giving anymore out until people came to get their games.

Just some food for thought on why your local gamestop might not say they have these:

A.) They really don't have them
B.) They have them and don't know it ('cause they aren't supposed to give them out yet)
C.) They're just giving you a line to avoid complaints and plan to give them out with the games

And of course, I sometimes assume the worst in people, but what would stop a Gamestop Manager from just keeping the case(s) for themselves and selling them online?  There doesn't seem to be any tracking of what has been handed out so far and most of the GS's I spoke with didn't know what the hell I was even talking about.   ::)

I'm actually kinda looking forward to seeing what the packaged Dagobah set could look like in the Legacy line.

Then click here.  Follow the link in Brian's post to see the rest of them...  ;)

Hit up several targets a few times this week, still no sign of the wave. People over at fwoosh are reporting they have bumped the price up to 14.99 for all ML at target.

I saw the Target ML wave this morning and they were $14.99.  Obscene.  They had the Wolverine variant but no Union Jack.  Not sure if that's a case assortment or just what they happened to put out that morning.  Good looking line, actually.  I really dig the Spiral and yellow Wolverine and I think the Red Hulk will look good completely assembled.

I'm surprised people are shocked at the $15 price point.  All of the Targets in Minneapolis have the Hulk Legends figs at $14.99, so not sure why Legends would be any less.  Do other Targets around the country have Hulk Legends for less?

Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:56 PM »
Maybe, but those people aren't wanting to drop $100 on Masterpiece toys since they look nothing like what kids are seeing in movies and on TV.

No one wants to spend $100 on MP toys Ryan.  That's why Alternators were such a good line at $20.

Overall what is out there is good; because it is exactly what the target market is looking for.

I'm not part of the target market?  I've dropped hundreds on Alternators, so I sure ought to be part of the target and I'm telling you the new stuff sucks from a collector's perspective.  I totally get the whole concept of making toys for kids and matching the movie dude, but I just don't like 'em.

All the stuff you can buy at retail locations like Wal-Mart and Target are not originally intended for the people here, that is what the Masterpiece set is for. Justin, if you don't like that stuff then don't buy it.

Not sure how you figure this.  Several people in this thread are buying the retail stuff at WM and Target - how is this not originally intended for these folks?  ???  I seem to recall Alternators being sold at both Target and WM.  And Ryan - I obviously don't like the stuff outside of MP and Alts, which is why I don't buy any of it.   ;)

Mikey is right! Parents and kid's don't want a super complex toy to play with. They want a toy that takes less than 2 minutes to transform, not one that takes an hour. Because lets face it the directions for transforming the toys were designed by NASA Engineers and only PhD's can understand the instructions on the first read. No matter how cool or realistic it looks, a Transformer that is a level 4 to transform is a tough toy for a 6 year old to figure out how to transform and will lead to a toy that is either broken or not played with.

Now that's your POV Ryan.  I certainly wouldn't give an Alt to a 6 year old, but seems like a great fit for a teenager who might be into cars/sci-fi/models.  As a parent, I'd rather have a toy that takes a little time to interact with than something my kids can figure out in 2 minutes.

I haven't bought any of them, but are the $20 Deluxe figures any easier to transform than the Alts were?   I thought it was a fun challenge and others obviously liked them too because they were hard as all heck to track down when new waves were released.  I certainly saw them sitting a lot less than some of the movie stuff out there.  And I don't have a PhD or an Engineering degree, but none of these ever took me more than half an hour to figure out.

Transformer toy's haven't changed a whole lot in nearly 30 years. Are you saying that all the figures since G1 are Turds on Sticks?

Are you smoking turds on sticks?  I'm calling for the return of the Alt line, not the G1 figures.  And I can't believe you said Transformer toys haven't changed a lot in 30 years...

Yes.  That's just where I've often gone to see who's moving.  Trust me, it's a nice tool to have.  I'll find one elsewhere.

They have a transaction report on CBS Sportsline too, but I think you might have to be in one of their leagues to see it.

I would be seriously disapointed to see Cap as anything other than an agile, well muscled caucasion with short blonde hair.  He's been an icon for what, fifty years?  And has looked pretty much exactly the same in every rendition over that time period.  If they want to make Nick Fury the Ultimates version, that's one thing, but I think having "the look" of the character is just as important as being a good actor.  After the spot on rendition of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, I can't see Marvel moving away from this trend.

As for who it should be - I'm sure there are lots of great actors that would fit the look for Thor or Cap.  I know a lot of people don't like him, but I think Casper Van Dien would make a super Cap.  I'd rather see him or some lesser known or unknown actor than someone like a Brad Pitt.

But if you're basing who to pick up based on who a good deal of other people are picking up, then don't you think those people are finding out from some other site or news report that there is someone valuable on the wire?  And if that's the case, isn't it likely that either you or one of your 11 competitors would also find this news from some other source around the same time or sooner and grab the pickup before you could get to him?

I'm still not seeing the huge advantage here, but here's something that may help you out.  While it doesn't show pick-ups per se, you can go to the players list and do a ranking on % owned of free agents.  Anyone who is being picked up by gobs of teams should be owned by a fair amount of people, so you can just check the % owned periodically.   ;)

(n.) One who, or that which, devastates.

Holy ****   :o

**********SPOILER ALERT************

- Seven construction vehicles merge to form Devastator
- Devastator has lots of upper body strength, like a gorilla
- Not just green, some of the vehicles are red and yellow

* Okay, why Seven instead of six? Based on the size of just Long Haul, this thing is going to be ginormous
* That second comment has me in stitches.  He has lots of upper body strength?  At that size, how could he not?
* Just one more color and he could be a joiner Teletubby.  ::) Way to continuously churn out crap robots for the movies.  Oh how I miss G1...
