Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Comic Book Thread
« on: March 28, 2008, 12:17 AM »
Here's what I'm reading:

 X  Avengers Classic
X  Avengers: The Initiative (dropping this with issue #12 I think - kind of bored with it)
X  Captain America (just started, not very impressed yet)
X  Invincible Iron Man (New series, looks good)
X  Iron Man: Director of SHIELD (Getting a little bored with this one - move the plot along already)
 X  Marvel Previews
 X  Mighty Avengers
X  Ms. Marvel (Awesome book.  Funny, lots of action, great stories)
 X  New Avengers
X  Secret Invasion (Can't wait to see who's actually a skrull!)
 X  Star Wars: Dark Times
 X  Star Wars: KOTOR
 X  Star Wars: Legacy
 X  Star Wars: Rebellion
X  Thor (one of the best books I've read in a long time - highly recommend it)
X  Transformers Spotlights & Ongoing Series (Think Mirage and Grimlock are the next ones to hit)
X  X-Factor: Quick and the Dead (I have a soft spot for Quicksilver, so I'm giving this a shot)
X  Young Avengers Presents (Really missed this team - happy to have them back even on a limited basis)

The Legacy Collection / Re: The Return of Saga Legends

Please please please just make all of the new Legends figs versions of Darth Vader throughout the years.

I'd buy.  :P

But seriously, Vader is the most identifiable character from Star Wars.  Don't you think it makes sense to have him on the pegs frequently?  (I'm not aiming this specifically at you Jman, just JD'ers in general).

LOL - I know you would!  I do think there's something to be said for re-releases of the main characters despite collectors already having 20+ versions.  These are the most popular characters for kids, so makes sense to have them available in some form most of the time.  I didn't buy any of the common characters in the Legends line this last year (Vader, R2, Chewie, etc.), but they all seem to sell, since none of those are on the pegs at the store I'm shopping now.  That means somebody's buying them, so kudos to Hasbro for trying to satisfy everyone.

All that being said, I would be totally fine with them never releasing another Darth Vader ever again.   ;)

Pittsburgh,PA actually.

That's unusual.  Have any of you West Coasters been checking DPCIs?  I know a few of us in Minnesota have been checking regularly, but no sign of them in the stockrooms around here yet.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Your Battle Pack Ideas?

My Ultimate Battle Pack Idea is no more Ultimate Battle Packs.  They're too big.

I agree, but I think you'd find more room if you opened your sets.  I also think it's probably the only way we might get small playset type settings from Hasbro.

Well, the other way to get a small playset would be for Hasbro to cancel the battle packs and start up a new assortment of small playsets.   ;)

That's to make ice cream, I don't think it requires Force Powers for that.

Egg-zactly.  ;)  You're reading too much into it Steve

And I don't think all of the non-jedi picks were jokes, but I don't want to name names.  You know who you are.

Someone at 'Scum claims they got someone at Target to pull them out case.

That's very possible - is he also on the West Coast?  Should be hitting your stores first, as usual.   :P

Changed mine.  He went from a redeemable baddie in the OT to more of a tragically misguided figure in the prequels. You also get a feel for how set up he was by the Emperor - he didn't just decide to be a bad guy, he was heavily pushed in that direction by Palpy.  When I see the OT now, I feel more pity for him than anything else.

The Original Trilogy / Re: TIE FIGHTERS
« on: March 26, 2008, 06:37 PM »
Since Tie's don't have hyperspace capability are there perhaps hyperspace rings for them?, or would they be hyperspace squares  :P

Just thinking that maybe in a circumstance instead of some sort of capital ship carrying a load of TIE's would it be possible for maybe a 1/2 sqaud to fly in some how for whatever reason, maybe just to relieve another group of TIE's/ replacements.

Your thoughts?

I think that by the OT and beyond, there were enough carrier ships to carry squadrons of TIEs wherever they needed to go.  With no sheilds as well, it makes more sense to send a larger vessel on a mission carrying several ties than sending multiple ties via external hyperdrive fittings.  Plus you have the added fire support of a larger ship, it can refuel the TIEs, etc.  The Empire is also largely based on intimidation, so their strategy was likely to send an enormous force somewhere to overwhelm the enemy and get them to surrender, rather than sending out one or two fighters on various missions.

I guess they must have gotten better at fitting smaller ships with hyper-drives as well, so for missions involving individual fighters, you'd probably use something slightly larger and far more durable Post ROTS.  The Xwings and Ywings have them and they're not that much bigger than Xwings.  Plus the Empire has added resources, so you'd think they could develop new tech at least as fast as the rebels.

I'd give my left nut if they'd just do more Darth Vader figures.  Please please please just make all of the new Legends figs versions of Darth Vader throughout the years.  That way I don't have to buy any of them.

SA Han Solo (w/MF tools, & hand-cuffs)

It'd be cooler if it were "bad ass" Mace Windu w/ MF lightsaber, cloak, detachable hand.  ;)
...but, yeah, I got what you meant.

Or for a sure fire hit, just make this guy!

Um...are we talking about JEDI figures as in the character must have Jedi powers or are we talking about figures from RETURN OF THE JEDI, which would encompass anyone from, but limited to that movie?  Based on the original post, I was under the assumption that this was limited the Jedi characters.

Either way, Han Bespin and Ice Cream Social Guy don't make the cut.  ;)
