Please God, let Detroit win.

I guess you got your wish...

Here's to another "Who Cares?" NBA Finals!   :P

Twinkies suck.

That's all.

 >:(

Minn = 33-22 (.600)
LAA ::) = 33-24 (.579)
LAD = 29-27 (.518)

If the Twinkies "suck", at least the Angels/Dodgers suck more.   :-*

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets
« on: June 6, 2005, 09:14 PM »
Yeah, and IIRC, I think we may have one in the OTC section too, where we were expecting these 3 cups to actually show up.  So, what's the going price on a set of them from the OTC Japan line?  I have a bad feeling I'm gonna have to pony up for those now...  :'(

Actually, they were NEVER "officially" released in Japan as other sites would have you believe.

As an intrepid reporter once said, only salesman samples ever showed up on eBay for the cup sets in the OTC packaging.  Only a VERY few ever showed up on eBay, like 1-3 sets that I ever saw, all from the same seller.

Amazon Japan took pre-orders, but the pre-orders were never filled, they just kept postponing the due date every month for about 9 months, then finally gave up.

In fact, most Japanese e-tailers that still have the OTC version for pre-order now mention the new packaging.

I guess since these are in ROTS packaging now, we should continue the discussion over in Cup thread in the ROTS figure forum.

 :)

YES, I bumped this just to be funny...

I read on a SoIaF message boards that Feast of Crows was soooo long the publisher made him go back and split it in two.  Opinions are mixed if this now means there will be 8 books or still 7.  It also sounds like the first book will deal solely with the South and the second with the North and they should both be out this year

Straight from the horse's mouth:

"About three weeks ago I hit 1527 pages of final draft, surpassing A STORM OF SWORDS... but I also had another hundred or so pages of roughs and incomplete chapters, as well as other chapters sketched out but entirely unwritten. That was when I realized that the light I'd seen at the end of the tunnel was actually the headlight of an onrushing locomotive.

And that's why my publishers and I, after much discussion and weighing of alternatives, have decided to split the narrative into two books (printing in microtype on onion skin paper and giving each reader a magnifying glass was not considered feasible, and I was reluctant to make the sort of deep cuts that would have been necessary to get the book down to a more publishable length, which I felt would have compromised the story).

...

The division has been done, and it think it works quite well. The upshot is, A FEAST FOR CROWS is now moving into production. It is still a long book, but not too long; about the same size as A GAME OF THRONES. The focus in FEAST will be on Westeros, King's Landing, the riverlands, Dorne, and the Iron Islands. More than that I won't say.

Meanwhile, all the characters and stories removed from FEAST are moving right into A DANCE WITH DRAGONS, which will focus on events in the east and north. All the chapters I have not yet finished and/or begun are moving into DANCE. I think this is very good, if truth be told, since it will give me the room to complete those arcs as I had originally intended, rather than trying to tie them up quickly in a chapter or two so I could deliver the massively late Big FEAST. "

There is more, this is just an excerpt... head here to read the whole big long explaination of the cut.

Good weekend for the Twinkies!

Taking 2/3 from the Yanks forcing them to drop to 4th place in the AL East = priceless   ;D

Mid-June is when the Twins seem to hit their stride.  Only being 3.5 games back isn't too bad, I'm still confident the Sox will implode at some point.   ;)

Oooh... I'm in for this one.  I've got a few EU/fan-fic smugglers I could tweak for this challenge.   :)

Feedback / Texican's feedback
« on: June 6, 2005, 01:40 PM »
I have the honor of starting a feedback thread for Texican.

He bought some loose figures from me and everything went smoothly.  Quick to respond to e-mails and quick to send payment!   ;)

No worries on this deal!  Thanks again!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?
« on: June 6, 2005, 11:59 AM »
I was hoping it would be Batman that would dethrone ROTS.  Oh well.  It almost beat everyone again but not quite.  Still though it's over $308 million.  Not bad for roughly 3 weeks.

It only lost by about $2 million, so uit was pretty close.  Anyway, from the Top Grossing Movies in the USA:

17. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) $310,675,583
18. Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) $309,125,409
19. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) $308,804,625

Basically RotS has caught up to RotJ and AotC in less than THREE weeks (18 days)!  I'd say that's pretty dang good.   ;)

It should pass both RotJ and AotC this week and then be 3rd highest grossing SW Film of all time with the rest of the summer to go...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Deluxe Figures
« on: June 6, 2005, 11:42 AM »
So this must mean there are a total of FOUR different packaging variations for these deluxe clones?!?!?!

And Hasbro goes and packs them 1 per case.

IDIOTS!

Agreed.   >:(

I was debating on whether I needed these, now the answer is NO.  I'm not going to chase down 4 different packs only to end up with 6 "unique" figures and 6 "repeats".   ::)

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Jeff's Mos Eisley Cantina Aliens
« on: June 4, 2005, 12:31 AM »
That's a good idea for a body for a Trandoshan/Saurin... I hope you haven't patented your idea, because I'm gonna "borrow" it.

Go ahead!  That's half the fun of these forums, sharing ideas and gaining inspiration for each other's work!

I really like the way it turned out.  Like you said, maybe not 100% movie-accurate, but since you hardly notice them in the movie, I'm not too worried about it.   ;)

ps.
I merged all 3 of my threads into this one to help keep things nice and tidy...

Very nice!  I love the armor/clothing on him - gives him a wookiee look but something new!

Man, it's been a loooong time since I posted in this thread...  how about an update?   ;)

Sai'torr Kal Fas (Saurin Droid Trader):
dead image link removed

I had to do something with my PotF2 Bossk after I got the Saga one, so I combined him with a little paint and an $2 Ep1 Clearance Rune Haako.

I still need to try to find a nice color match for paint for his hands, just haven't had time to mix up a batch of paint yet to do it.   :-\

I gave him a drinking glass made from one of my favorite customs tricks - it's a push-pin with the pin pulled out.  Without the little metal pin, those push-pin make pretty nifty glasses.   ;)

Looks like the main page just announced the winner...

I have a fairly hefty Starcom collection.  Not sure if you're familiar with that line or not 10", but it was one of the most innovative toy lines (IMO) of the 1980's.

Wow, how did I not catch this before?

I guess that makes two of us here who loved this line.  The little magnets on the feet were great!

My collection isn't anywhere near complete, but that's because I haven't really tried to finish it up (I've got just about all the Starcom stuff, missing a few bad-guy ships).

I think this is the only "StarCom" site I know of...

Maybe we'll have to compare notes sometime, Jesse!   ;)
