Yeah, I'm rather surprised certain Wolves fans haven't used this excellent (and rare) opportunity these past few weeks to really humbe the Laker fans around here.   ;)

Bah, even with 7 game win streak, we were still only like 9-8 in January, not much to get excited about.   :(

Hopefully they can get some things righted, starting with nerfing Spree.  I'm almost as tired of hearing about his issues as I am about hearing Randy Moss Trade rumors.   ::)

Does anyone think Sosa with the O's gives them any better shot at catching the Yanks or BoSox (or even Toronto)?  Anyone think Sosa will ever hit more than 45 HR again (corked bat and 'roids not withstanding)?  :-\

...

I didn't think so.

On a positive note, only 2 weeks to the start of spring training!   ;D  With no NHL and a sub-par Wolves team, I will probably be turning my attention the the Twinkies much earlier than planed.

Another secret, hush-hush meeting today?

 ::)

When are they finally going to just give in and cancel the dang season?  The idea of a 24-game regular season does not excite me.  The idea that you could end up playing more games in the playoffs (28) than the reg season is just stupid.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Creating General Grievous
« on: February 2, 2005, 01:16 PM »
That is the last I had heard as well, just what Mikey just posted.  The most recent rumor was John Rhys Davies, which could be pretty cool.  There hasn't been an "official announcement" yet, but you would think there would be before too long now.

I've heard that JRD was in the running because of his history with LFL (via Indy), but I've also heard that John Di Maggio (Bender from Futurama) will be doing GG's voice-over for RotS.

I personally don't put much stock in John Di Maggio doing the voice in the movie, I think it's just a rumor that has popped up because of the fact that he is the voice of GG in the Clone Wars Cartoon.  I guess until we know for sure, it is a possibility.   :-\

Man, now I want to order the Stormie 3-packs just to try to get the BlackHole trooper.

That way I'd have one and someone else wouldn't...

If I really luck out and snag 2, I'l give you my other one Scott.   ;)

Kubricks / Re: Kubricks and Minimates
« on: February 1, 2005, 11:01 AM »
Well, I managed to score a Robin Kubrick (from the Japanese release of Bat-Series 1) on eBay for only $1.99 plus $3 shipping from Hong Kong last night.  $5 for Tim Drake is a good price, so I'm happy to add him to my growing family...

I've got:
Batman       - DC Direct Box Set
Robin (Jason Todd)   - DC Direct Box Set
Batgirl         - DC Direct Box Set
Mr. Freeze   - DC Direct Box Set
Scarecrow   - DC Direct Box Set
Azrael          - Batman Comic Series 1
Robin (Tim Drake)   - Batman Comic Series 1
Killer Croc    - Batman Animated Series 1
Man-Bat      - Batman Animated Series 1
The Joker    - Batman Movie Series 1
Catwoman   - Batman Movie Series 1
The Penguin   - Batman Movie Series 1

Pretty happy with what I have so far, but I'd still like to grab:
Spoiler         - Batman Comic Series 1 - CHASE
Harley Quinn    - Batman Animated Series 1

The rest, I don't really want/need.  Not much difference between Batgirl/Freeze/Scarecrow versions, so I'm OK with just the USA versions.  Same goes for Animated Batgirl/Freeze, don't need them because I am happy with the versions I have.  Japan Batman, Animated Batman, and Movie Batman I skipped because I've already got 1 version I like (USA version) and don't really have a desire for 4 different Batmen.  Finally, the Bat-Beyond characters and other movie figure (Selina and Penguin Warrior) I passed on because they aren'y really needed in my Bat-Universe.

Has anyone ever even seen an auction for CHASE Spoiler?  I saw one once go for about $60, but have never seen another either on yahoo or eBay...  :-\

I stopped counting after 80 I started realizing how much older I am than the rest of you :)

Um, the rest of us were only counting from the top 50, not the top 250...  :P

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III - Preview Figures (SPOILERS)
« on: January 31, 2005, 04:44 PM »
Alright, once and for all, what the heck is WallyWorld??!?!!?! ???

WallyWorld = the Amusement Park from "National Lampoon's Vacation" (a great movie from the 80s).

WallyWorld was the ultimate destination of the family's road trip west, although they visited many famous sites between Chicago and California en route to WallyWorld.  They end up going through a lot of crap to get there, but cling to the hope that it will all be worth it when they get there; however once they got to WallyWorld it sucked ass.

Interesting enough that same description is, to me, the epitome of Wal-Mart.  Everythime I go there, I have such great anticipation as to what I will find when I get there, but upon arriving after going through all the crap you have to go through to get to the AF aisle (smokers, crap in the aisles, too many people), I am always more frustrated leaving said store - it sucks ass.

I believe that is why so many people refer to Wal-Mart as WallyWord.  Well, that and Wal-Mart kind of sounds like WallyWorld.   :P

edit - even though you other fellas beat me, I'm still leaving mine...

Yeah, historically (especially in the Modern Era) the large ticket items such as the '95 Falcon, '97 AT-AT and '99 Naboo Royal Starship debuted in August/September so that they would be in stores for the back to School shopping AND more specifically the Holiday shopping.

A $80-100 toy sells MUCH better in November as opposed to June.  If Hasbro does give us a large vehicle like a Turbo Tank or AT-TE, I wouldn't expect to see it in the stores until Late Fall/Early Winter...

Dang, I must need more hobbies, I've seen 41.

These are the ones that I haven't seen:
22. 8.6 City of God  (2002) 21,905
27. 8.5 Amélie  (2001) 55,076
31. 8.5 Sunset Blvd. (1950) 15,023
32. 8.5 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) 36,298
39. 8.4 The Pianist (2002) 27,119
40. 8.4 Paths of Glory (1957) 13,399
41. 8.4 The Third Man (1949) 17,364
49. 8.3 M (1931) 11,234
50. 8.3 Rashômon (1950) 10,703

I've been meaning to rent Eternal Sunshine, but never do for whatever reason.  I haven't seen the Pianist for the same reason Brent's never seen the ShindList.   :(

I think the rankings are pretty good (for the ones that I've seen).  I'd probably rank the SW movies a bit higher - definately ESB over Pulp Fiction, which may be a little high on the list.  I'd also rank Lawrence of Arabia much higher, it deserves to be in the top ten for sure.

Also, I'm not too sure ALL three of the LOTR movies whould be in the top ten.  As a whole story/trilogy combined, definately, separately though some of the other movies would outrank them (Lawrence and one of the Hitchcock movies) for sure.  I'd put RotK in the top ten and leave the other 2 in the top 25 someplace.

Finally, where the heck is "Bridge on the River Kwai?"  >:(  That one should definately be in the top 50!

So, this weekend I went to see "Million Dollar Baby" because of the Oscar buzz and the fact that I like Eastwood directed movies.

This movie was fantastic.  I don't really want to say anymore because I don't want to wreck it for those that may see it.

So, all I can say is that if you are on the fence on this movie, go see it.  You probably won't regret it (as long at you can handle boxing violence).
