Another lightning fast deal with Jesse!

Once again, I sold some extra stuff to Jesse.  We started the deal, closed the deal, AND he sent payment all in the same day!  Can't get much faster than that!   ;)

Thanks again for the quick and easy transaction, Jesse!  Your loot should be out in the mail tomorrow!

I personally think that he WILL eventually get voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame... but it will be posthumously.

Once he dies and is no longer around to enjoy it (or profit off it), the Veteran's committee will vote him in.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Taxes
« on: March 10, 2005, 04:23 PM »
We used TurboTax for the first time this year.  The TurboTax software made everything go very quickly (started and finished in only a few hours) and it turned out to be pretty hassle free, even the Schedule A Deductions stuff.

After the Best Buy rebates and incentives, the software for Fed and State only cost about $15, so it was a great deal.  Plus, with the software, we got to e-File (for free after another rebate) and ended up getting our tax rebates within 10 business days!

We ended up getting a nice refund from Federal (cha-ching!) and a pretty small one from State (small is better than nothing though).

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: March 10, 2005, 04:14 PM »
Definitely a good time to bump this piece of crap back up.  I think it's funny that I keep seeing "National" news media outlets discussing gas hitting $2 a gallon.

Yeah, last week around these parts we hit $2.19 and I was tempted to drag this thread back up.

I drove on fumes for 2 days hoping it would drop and managed to wait it out until it was back to a "low" $1.96  ::)

Today, we're sitting at about $2.09 at most places...  >:(

Looking forward to some more consistent sports chatter in here...

Kubricks / Series 4
« on: March 10, 2005, 01:02 PM »
For Series 4, I plan on buying a Master Case off eBay again.

I managed to snag 2/3 of the chases that way last time and I had relatively little trouble selling my extras (though I do still have 2 wickets and 1 Jawa left over from Series 3  ::)).

Maybe I can get a few of the same people to go in on the case with me again?

In other Kubrick news, my Max Rebo band set was shipped out to me this week so it should be here next week!   ;D

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Autograph Guest List C3
« on: March 10, 2005, 12:19 PM »
From the Official Pix website:

We have about four more names pending and hope to announce them soon. Many, many of our customers have written requesting dozens of names.

As of 3/10/05, the following headline guests that we regularly work with can not attend due to schedule conflicts: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, James Earl Jones, Samuel L Jackson, and Christopher Lee. If their schedules open, rest assured we will do everything we can to get them to the show!

Right now we are at an unprecedented 39 guests, and will top 40 by the end of the week. We hope all STAR WARS fans will have an opportunity to visit Celebration III and meet this incredible lineup!

-Official Pix

No JEJ?  :(
No Sam Jackson? :(

I'd pretty much decided that the only people I'd stand in line to meet were: Ewan MgGregor, Harrison Ford, Sam Jackson, Billy D, and JEJ.

I'm almost 1000000% positive that Ewan or Harrison Ford will not be there, so that just leaves the Colt .45 Pitchman for me to hope to meet at C3...

JD Sports Forum! / Steroids in Sports
« on: March 10, 2005, 11:53 AM »
OK, since this is bigger than just NFL or MLB or the Olympics, I thought I'd get us rolling on this topic in our new Sports Forum!

So, in recent 'Roids news, the US Congress is trying to get baseball players to testify on the subject:

MLB leaders plan to fight subpoenas

Do you think these guys should have to testify on the subject?

Is it in baseball's best interest to never find out if Bonds or McGwire or Sosa were on steroids?   :-\

I don't know how I feel about it.  If the players did it, it kinda sucks, but then again there was no testing for it - who knows what the right answer is?

When guys like KG and Kobe, and teams like the Wolves and Lakers are NOT in the playoff picture, and un-noteable teams like the Grizzlies and Nuggets ARE...?  Something's wrong with this picture.

I wonder what Shaq is thinking right now?

Heat = #1 playoff seed in the East with a 7.5 game lead over #2 Detroit  :)

Lakers = #9 in the West, 0.5 games behind the #8 seed  :(

I doubt that Shaq is missing Phil and Kobe all that much at this point...  :P

JD Sports Forum! / Re: NHL Offseason
« on: March 10, 2005, 10:45 AM »
Ya know technically they wont be replaced by "scabs", they will be replaced by guys who likely would have been called up to the big time eventually.

Yeah, but I've seen the Houston Aeros play, and they are nowhere near the talent level of the NHL Wild.  Sure, there are some young guys with talent, but they are still raw.  They mave have potential, but they don't have "it".

Anyway you look at it, the quality won't be the same.   :(

Well, with the Grapefruit and Cactus leagues well underway, I guess it's time to abandon the old thread and start up a new one for 2005!

I've been watching a few games on ESPN and listening to the Twins on the AM radio when I get a chance, really starting to get into Baseball again.  I've got my tickets for the Dome Opener, should be another great year for the Twins - Santana and BRadke at the top of the rotation and a re-stocked infield.  Ready to go for that 4th-in-a-row AL Central title!

Aaaah, Baseball.  :)

I no longer miss the NHL.   :P

Other Collectibles / Re: Playskool Galactic Heroes Thread
« on: March 10, 2005, 10:22 AM »
New Galactic Heroes...

Chewie and Clone

Also listed are Mace and Kit and R2 and Super Battle Droid

I'm looking forward to the Kit Fisto figure.   :)

Er, I mean, my 3-year old nephew is.  Yeah, right, that's the ticket.   :P

IF this is true does anyone know if the talking voice feature comes from the base or package and if the figure is permanently attched to the base?

In this picture:

You can see the "try me" button for the Voice Chip is at the bottom of the package, indicating to me that the Voice Chip stuff is probably in the base and not the figure itself...

I have no idea how/if Vader is permanently attached to the base - I'd guess that he is NOT permanently attached to the base.  Other deluxe figres haven't been attached, so I doubt this one will.
