Revenge of the Sith / Re: The Mustafar Playset...
« on: April 26, 2005, 03:42 PM »
Well, I did see it up close, and it wasn't all that great.

The "lava" on the playset varies from red to pink and back, not consistent and kinda lame. :(

The Obi-Wan and Anakin pack-in figures are OK, but nothing great. Decent likenesses with the basic articulation. It seemed to be about the same size as the Arena Plaset. Larger than the Vinty Dagobah set for sure, but not as big as the vinty DS playset.

It has a bunch of built in action features that are OK, but I'd just use it for a diorama peice anyway. Overall, it was OK, but not "AMAZING" like the Evolution sets were.

I believe I saw a $30-40 price point listed for it...

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3

Had they had merch (and prices) prominently displayed in an area that the line passed.....I think they would have moved it along faster.

I saw display cases in the "non-volunteer" lines. Big case with everything in it with prices and such. I walked by it at least 2 times in line, but it STILL didn't help. >:(

I do agree that the longest time was spent waiting for people to make up their damn minds. The line would burst into cheers when someone finally paid after taking up 20 minutes deciding. :P

Plus, it would have went much faster with more registers and more runners to get product to the buyers. And it would have gone even FASTER if one of the sides of the square was a CASH-only, FIGURE-only line. It sucked that you still had to stand in the big giant line to get to the front before you could hit the speed lane for CASH/FIGURE-only.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: C3 Hasbro Q & A
« on: April 25, 2005, 06:14 PM »
If they don't do the twins in some form, I will quit. With all the exclusive crap (no C3 Vader for me) and headaches with keeping up, they make it very easy for a lifelong SW fan to walk away. "They're action figures not stand there and look at them figures?" How about "They're just toys, people. Not state secrets."

What I found so incredibly funny is that yet again at a Hasbro QnA attended almost exclusively by 30+ year old dudes was the "OK, we make these for KIDS" BS line they constantly throw out at us. They once again made it a point that KIDS are #1 on their list...

THEN, they go and realease Collector Cases at Target.

"So it turns out that the single greatest enemy to the Republic and the very future of the galaxy isn't the Sith. It's dust. The solution? Collector cases - only available at Target.

Protect your Star Wars collection from the elements with this five-pack of collector cases that perfectly encapsulate your Revenge of the Sith 3 action figures. Each of these durable containers is specially made for displaying your collection on shelves, stands or even your walls."

I can't wait to see the first Kid running down the aisle of Target going "mommy, mommy, can I buy this pack of 5 plastic cases!" ::)

Maybe because they are Target exclusive means that Target actually gets the fact that only the collectors are spending the big $$ on this crap...

And just like that they are gone. What was the run on this sucker? It seems like it should of sold out easily at C3. Im happy others were able to order it but I feel bad for all the people that wasted a better part of a day waiting for this.

Not sure if this was the final total but at one point at the start of C3, they had 500 pallets of Vader figures.

500 Pallets = 10,000 cases = 120,000 Vaders (give or take a few).

There may have been more or less, but that's the number I heard being tossed around at the show.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Battle Packs (5 figure sets)
« on: April 25, 2005, 05:33 PM »
So,

I thought I should point out for all you "variation" hunter guys that there is currently an error on the 5-pack box. You can see on this picture I took that it says it includes "Stormtrooper" Armor. Oops! :-X

No idea if they will fix it or not, but it's there for now...

Also, this set looks to be the only one with new/re-worked figures in it. the next 2 sets will be composed of total re-hash figures. Nothing new but maybe the paint decos. >:(

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Target Exclusives?
« on: April 25, 2005, 05:29 PM »
Rob, was it under the Vader DCPI number still, at $12.99, or what?

No, it is NOT the same after all...

087-06-0311 = Lava Vader

087-06-1489 = Exclusive Clone

087-06-1490 = 5-pack of Collector Cases

My info says that Target is set for an aisle re-set on or near May 8th.  At that re-set time, they will have pegs clearly marked for these, so keep an eye out for your Target to reset the shelves and out these out...

On a side note, whats everyones take on the package? Will the OTC cardback make a return this Fall or in 2007?

The other side of the card was blank/white, so no one knows for sure yet...

I think the OTC cards will re-surface again for this exclusive at least, just like the Holo-Emperor had.

Sounds like this figure is sold out now...

Not sure if it's just sold out for the day or if it's gone for good.

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Again
« on: April 25, 2005, 03:46 PM »
I believe one of the Q and A's (at GH maybe), asked if they would be returning in 2006...and they said "Yes, and no". Still sounds like they are continuing either way, so that's good news to me.

I think what they meant by that was "YES" as in there will be more unleashed out in 2006" but "NO" as in little to no NEW figures. Expect a lot of re-cards for now...

It sounded like they wanted to get some of the older pieces that are selling for fat cash on eBay re-released so that folks could pick them up.

And that sums up all the attention I gave to Unleashed over C3. Oh, that and the Emperor/yoda piece looks really cool. If I was collecting these, I'd love that one.

Ok - this is going to sound stupid but, where did this figure come from?

Who's going to have it as an exclusive, how much, when is it available?

See HERE.

It is this summer's convention exclusive figure and will be on StarWarsShop.com in the fall...

This is about as good a place as any to post this...

I handed over to Hasbro a copy of the JD Top Ten Polls for each of the movies, as well as this poll for the "best of the best" top ten request list.

They said they'd take that info home, so maybe, just maybe, we will have had a hand in helping them to plan out 2006/2007? ;)

Yes, that is him and he is surounded by a rather large group of JD dudes as well...

In fact, if you do a bit of detective work, you'll see that JD Staff members made their way into pictures posted at Rebelscum AND GalacticHunter. Man, did we get around... :P

Waldo's got nothing on Matt! ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: April 25, 2005, 03:25 PM »
Maybe this wasn't mentioned there, or maybe this is a dumb question....but are these expected to be a "wide" release? Not limited to a certain retailer or anything, right?

Right now, they are supposed to be everywhere, not exclusive, and should have a $20 price tag.

Also, they only have these 3 sets planned so far, but at the QnA they indicated that sales of this line will determine whether or not they go back and do more.

When we were talking to the Hasbro guys later, they said they had quite a few figures on the list already that they'd like to do if they get the chance to make more - Padme, Obi-Wan, 3PO. Almost made it seem like if there is a next wave, it'd likely be those three.

Umm how old is Chris Berry??

He is 35, but he has that disease like Emmanuel Lewis or Gary Coleman where you never get really old looking.
