Kubricks / Series 5
« on: August 5, 2005, 10:15 PM »
Yeah, that would be a tough call. As mentioned it's going to be tough with customs and not getting a good look inhand.

Yeah, I agree.  That's why I just bit the bullet and bought the chase I needed (Han) now before the fakes really start to hit the market.

I think it's been shown it's pretty easy to fake the Stormie Twins, so I agree that I'd be very leery of any auction where Han or Luke is not in the baggie... and heck, with a heat sealer it wouldn't be too hard to get them back in the baggie either.   :-\

Saga Collection '06 / Re: EE Exclusive Astromech 5-Packs
« on: August 5, 2005, 03:17 PM »
OK, with the onset of these EE box sets, I was thinking of pulling all my little Astromechs out to display on one shelf.  As I was compiling a list, I realized that we already have quite a few of these little guys!

R1-G4 (Saga) - does he count as an "astromech" droid? :-\  I'll count him for now because I like him...
R2-B1 (Ep1)
R2-D2 (pick one ;))
R2-Q5 (PotJ)
R2-R9 (Ep1 Queen’s Starship)
R3-A2 (TRU Hoth 4-pack)
R3-D3 (Star Tours Wave 1)
R3-T7 (AotC Sneak Preview)
R4-G9 (RotS Sneak Preview)
R4-M9 (Dk Green, PotJ)
R4-M9 (Lt Green, Star Tours Wave 2)
R4-R9 (TRU Imp 4-pack)
R5-D2 (Star Tours Wave 3)
R5-D4 (PotF2)

That's 14 different Astromech paint schemes already!  I guess they came out over time so I never really took the time to count them until now.  So, when you add in the upcoming Astromechs:

R2-A6 (EE Box 2)
R2-C4 (EE Box 1)
R2-M5 (EE Box 2)
R2-Q2 (EE Box 1)
R2-X2 (EE Box 2)
R3-T2 (EE Box 1)
R3-T6 (EE Box 1)
R3-Y2 (EE Box 2)
R4-A22 (EE Box 1)
R4-E1 (EE Box 2)
R4-P17 (RotS #64)

That's 25 unique Astromech paint schemes!   :o

Plus, you could give the TRU Silver R2-D2 a new name and throw him out there too... that’s 26 (25 I guess if you don't gount R1-G4 as a pure Astro-droid).

That's going to make one mighty fine display shelf to see them all lined up in a row...

Jay Feaster still has to address restricted free agents Vinny Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis and try to convince unrestricted free-agent goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin to return to the Lightning.

Well, there's one loss for the Defending Champs...

Khabibulin signs four-year deal with Blackhawks

Where was the missile in the box.  I got mine in hand just this week, so I'm curious, though I intend to display mine in the box.  Don't I already have three other versions of this ship?

If it was included in your set, I believ the reports said it was in a baggie taped to the inside of the box, under the little platform the Slave 1 sits on... or something like that.  It's definately packed in a location that the only way to find it is to open the box.   :-\

Can one cancel a Starwars shop order? Is it easy?

Just send the customer service an e-mail and ask them to cancel it.  It takes them a few days to get back to you, but as long as it's a pre-order, I've never had a problem with them when I was trying to cancel an order...

These seem to be more than the Clone sets, or am I wrong?  Maybe not.  Maybe it's just that astromechs in general seem like so much "less" figure.  I mean, they don't come with anything even.

They seem to be pretty close to the price of the Clones.

The Clones were $300 for a Master case (12 boxes of 4 figures - 48 figures at $6.25 each).
The Droids are $300 for a Master case (10 boxes of 5 figures = 50 figures at $6 each).

When all is said and done, ordering by the case is the way to go.

When you order that way, each box of droids will run about $34 (with UPS shipping) or $6.80 per figure.  When I ordered the Clones by the case, each box ended up at $28 (with UPS shipping)or $7.00 per figure.  In other words, they are pretty dang close in price.

So, if you've got local guys or even trading pals, you can save quiet a bit of cash.  For example, if you order a set (1x each box form EE) it would run you about $85 (shipped the slowest).  If you order by the case, it works out to closer to $68 (with faster UPS shippping).

That's a savings of at least $17, so even if you have to pay another $5-6 for re-shipping to split a case, you are still saving money!

Great review Jesse!

I love this figure and I was glad to see I wasn't alone in my appreciation of a really nice Jedi figure!

I've got a couple of questions, does anyone know of a site with a detailed list of the SW Kubricks that have been released?  It would be nice if it had the series & exclusives, because I'm confused by the carded figures (what's the deal with them?)

Well, you're at the site for that!   ;D

First, there is the stuff Dale Mentioned above:

For in-depth reviews of all the Star Wars Kubricks so far, check out the:
Medicom Kubrick Features - just clicky on the pictures on the features page for the reviews of the Early Bird set, Series 1, 2, 3 (Series 4 coming soon!).

Also, there are the past and present threads which are a wealth of info:
New Star Wars Kubricks...
The Kubricks Strike Back
Power of the Kubricks!
Revenge of the Kubricks

And, for a quick look at the figures so far, you can always check out the JediDefender Kubrick Image Database.

Last. but certainly not least, is the JediDefender Kubrick Checklist that JesseVader08 is working on which will tie everything together.

I'd say you'd have a hard time finding a site out there with better coverage of the Star Wars Kubrick line than ours!   ;)

What was the final verdict on this freakin thing. Did Hasbro ever end up shipping with the correct accessories for the Fett? Did anyone actually find one?

Well, yes Hasbro did ultimately ship the Slave 1 with the missile, BUT you had to open it to find out...

I have heard legendary tales of people who found one (with missile) in the second, closer to Christmas shipment...

BUT, of those who DID find it the Slave 1 with Missile, the backpack missile was packed INSIDE the box, with the rest of the vehicle accessories.

In other words, there is no way to tell if it has a missile or not by looking at it.

In order to find out if it has the missile, you have to (gasp), OPEN IT.

Therefore, it will be nigh impossible to nab one of each variation because there is currently no way to tell them apart without opening them.  And once they are open, well, they are no longer packaged, right?

I personally know of at least TWO people who found one and both times the backpack missile was packed inside the box.

And how many people received replacement parts here on the forum who complained to Hasbro? I sent a letter within a week of this thing being released (even though at the time I did not have one) and did not here dick back ???

I was one of the lucky folks who received a replacement missile from Hasbro...  I heard of a few others, but I heard a lot more horror stories than success stories.   :-\

I have 4 Banthas.  It's the best beast I think they've made.  It's so damn cool.  Get a POTF2 version Metal Jedi, you won't regret it.   :)

I agree, that Bantha is killer.  It's a great toy and it was cool to finally get one.  I think it's my favorite beast they've done in the Modern era... although the Acklay is a close second.

I think the reality is that your team is one of those clubs this CBA was created for: a team that has no intention of spending.

Welcome to the Club, Jamie!   :D

I think the Wild are in the same boat, as the only money they have spent is re-signing their own (cheap) players and draft picks.  Sure, there were a lot of rumors about Modano coming "home" to Minnesota, but I think that was just sports radio "filler".

Sure will be an interesting year...
