Other Toy Lines / Re: ReAction Lines
« on: February 7, 2014, 10:52 AM »

From EE:
We are excited to announce an EXCLUSIVE first look at several of Super 7 and Funko's newly released ReAction 3 3/4 inch figures! They've added hot new licenses to the line including: Terminator, Predator, Back to the Future, Escape from New York, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Goonies, Universal Monsters, Pulp Fiction,  A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and many more!

Pics from Predator, Terminator, Escape from New York, Rocketeer,  and Nightmare Before Christmas are up, more will be revealed as we lead up to Toy Fair!

Looks like they are starting at $10 each or so... not too bad for a small company release compared to the $15-20 Alien starting point.

Mos Eisley Cantina Jumbo Playset

Man, I'm so jealous of all your droids, Pete.  Can't wait until the next time I make it out to Disney to do some droid building... my two droids from C-6 are so lonely for new R6, R8, and R9 friends!

LEGO / Ghostbusters

Who ya gonna call?

BILLUND, Denmark, Jan. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The LEGO Group today announced that its latest quarterly review of LEGOŽ CUUSOO consumer inspiration platform has designated that a LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 will be produced for sale under a licensing agreement from Sony Pictures Consumer Products. The item is the sixth user-designed and submitted product to be manufactured from the LEGO CUUSOO platform after receiving the requisite 10,000 fan votes to be considered for production.

Made famous by the 1984 Ghostbusters film, the ECTO-1 was selected for production due to its broad worldwide appeal and the fact that the iconic model lends itself to challenging and creative building for both children and adult fans. The LEGO replica of ECTO-1 will include minifigures. The model is still in the final design stages and availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.

Brent Waller, a 3-D Environment Artist in the video game industry from Brisbane, Australia designed the original model, which he called Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Concept. Consumers whose LEGO CUUSOO ideas are selected for production earn one percent of the total net sales of the product.

LEGO CUUSOO is the global crowdsourcing platform that allows consumers to submit their ideas for new LEGO products. Submissions that receive 10,000 fan votes on are then reviewed quarterly by the company and considered for production. Other LEGO CUUSOO projects that have been produced for sale include: NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future, LEGO Minecraft Microworld, Hayabusa asteroid explorer and the Shinkai 6500 submarine.

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Toy Fair 2014

I'm actually expecting Hasbro to not have anything Star Wars, at least what little they will have will be brushed aside in favor of Marvel stuff since the movies are out in April and May. Star Wars will get more focus at SDCC, but that should be all Rebels.

Don't forget Transformers.  With a movie coming this summer, they've already started the pre-Toy Fair hype machine. I'm expecting a TON of attention/time being aimed on the new kiddie-focused figures the article mentions.  ::)

Star Wars Universe / Re: Disney to Purge Select EU
« on: January 13, 2014, 11:33 AM »
Like other comic book fans here have said, to me this is no different than "Peter Parker never married Mary Jane!!!"  Or "Superman never married Lois Lane!!!"  There comes a point when the stories have to be rebooted and continuity has to be cleaned up and I guess Star Wars is finally there (just like comics, Star Trek, Walking Dead and countless other things before).  That;'s what happens when companies need to make $$$ at the end of the day.

I totally get the anger from people who love the existing EU.  I honestly think you sort of have to go through the five stages of grief.  I've seen it (and felt it myself) with various Marvel/DC reboots over the years.  If you love something, it hurts when someone else (Disney) tells you it's not worth keeping anymore.  The best part is that while Disney can tell you it didn't happen, you will always have the book and you are always free to believe what you want.

Like Pete said in his post...
take all the post-ROTJ books and comics and say "these exist in Star Wars Galaxy 154825173855271" (sorry, just poking fun at the Marvel Universe numbers)

DC Comics fans like me will consider the Lucas-LFL Era as "Pre-Crisis" EU and the Disney-LFL Era "Post-Crisis" EU (to equal-opportunity poke fun at the DC Universe ;)).

this was just discovered yesterday - supposedly another case is coming:

Wage a war for the fate of the universe with Rhino, Mysterio, Thanos, Nova, the Incredible Hulk, Cloak and Dagger, Abomination, Colossus, Black Knight, and Alpha Flight!
I'm skeptical considering BBTS and EE don't have a preorder.

Looks like this case is finally on BBTS.

2x MVL UNV CLOAK AND DAGGER - May be Cloak or Dagger, item packed at Random
2x MVL UNV ABOMINATION - May be Abomination or A-Bomb, item packed at Random
1x MVL UNV ALPHA FLIGHT(Will be either Northstar or Aurora. Packed at Random, sorry no choice.)

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Is 2014 the "Last Hurrah"?
« on: January 9, 2014, 10:17 AM »
It sure seems like 2014 and Spring 2015 will be the last, best chance for obscure OT figures and desired resculpts from the OT and to a lesser extent PT.

It's not impossible for them to leave some slots or box sets here or there for the old OT/PT stuff, but I think the chances of a sweet resculpt for Han in Carbonite or ANH White Dress Leia decreases tremendously if they have a bunch of new Han and Leia they are selling.  :(

Also, even if they do leave slots for the "old" stuff, at some point it's a law of numbers thing.  By the time we get to Episode 8 (2017), you could have something like this

60 new figures planned:
45 from Episode 8
5 from Episode 7 (2015)
5 from standalone movie (2016)
5 from everything else - ANH, ESB, ROTJ, TPM, AOTC, ROTS, EU, TCW, Rebels, etc

With each new cartoon series or movie that "everything else" piles grows a little bit larger...

Biggio = 74.8%, just missed it.  Maybe (probably) next year.

Interesting to see Clemens/Bonds lose votes this year...
