Other Collectibles / Re: Master Replicas, mini sabers
« on: February 23, 2005, 08:52 AM »
I was also informed at Toy Fair by one of the MR reps that they have an SDCC and a C3 exclusive mini saber on tap for later this year.

From forum member Gundam aka Rod at the Jawa:

ROTS Obi Wan Kenobi BLACK SMOKE CHROMED .45 Scale Replica Lightsaber

ROTS Anakin Skywalker BLACK SMOKE CHROMED .45 Scale Replica Lightsaber

ROTS Darth Sidious BLACK SMOKE CHROMED .45 Scale Replica Lightsaber"

Looks like you guys/gals will have some hunting to do...

Kubricks / Re: Power of the Kubricks!
« on: February 22, 2005, 04:56 PM »
Just and after-thought I had. The Rebo figures are first releases, where as the carded ones are variations. That will probably hold the price up.

I think that will play a BIG price in why these stay a bit more expensive, kinda like the Early Bird set (which seems to be creeping up again).

Most (like me) can resist the carded figures since they are variants, but with new figures like this, it's hard to pass on them.

Since we'll likely be lumped together in a group, I'll proably just go where you and J-MAC tell me to go...

For sure I'm going to grab my allotment of 4 C3 Vaders (for me and a couple other local guys) and I'll probably try to buy up the rest of the exclusives as well to bring back here and offer up to my "groupies".

You groupies know who you are... ;)

Here's how I see it shaking out for me and all the Hasbro stuff...

Basic Action Figures - $5.99
2x of each (1 carded, 1 loose) to start
multiples (2-4) of selected Army builders

Deluxe Action Figures - $9.99
1x of each (loose), hopefully on clearance  ;)

Battle Arenas - $19.99
1x each (loose) - sure they may suck, but that dang figure OCD kicks in again...  :-[

12" Figures - $19.99-$49.99
no thank you

Vehicles - Battle Vehicles - $14.99
1x each (loose), perhaps an extra AT-RT if it is cool enough

Vehicles - Assault Vehicles - $19.99
1x each (loose)

Vehicles - Gunship (Large) - $29.99
1x ARC-170
0x Republic Gunship (I've already got the AotC and CW versions, 2 is plenty).

Playsets - $29.99
1x Mustafar Playset (loose), hopefully on clearance  ;)

Unleashed - $14.99
no thank you

Force Battlers - $9.99
no thank you

Galactic Heroes - $4.99
1x each (loose), hopefully all those 3-yr old's don't mind  :P

Jedi Force - $7.99
no thank you

Darth Tater - $7.99
no thank you

Attacktix - $5.99 to $9.99
no thank you

Role Play - Various Prices
no thank you

I think that about covers it...

A Few More Details from Hasbro...

In 2005, the “force” returns with PLAYSKOOL’S new STAR WARS JEDI FORCE toy line that includes figures and role-playing toys from the entire STAR WARS franchise.  Preschoolers will enjoy STAR WARS play as they “become” their favorite characters like LUKE SKYWALKER, HAN SOLO, ANAKIN SKYWALKER, YODA and DARTH VADER.  Experience the STAR WARS adventure in your home and choose the side you want to be on.

($7.99 each; 3 and up; Fall 2005)

YODA & SWAMP STOMPER “Enjoy Yoda, you will!”  As the green, big-eared master of the JEDI, the YODA figure comes complete with his SWAMP STOMPER and GREEN lightsaber ready to travel through the swamps and protect against the Dark Side.

LUKE SKYWALKER & SPEEDER BOARD Put your LUKE SKYWALKER figure’s JEDI skills to the test!  Equipped with his SPEEDER BOARD and his BLUE lightsaber, take the LUKE SKYWALKER figure on his journey to rescue his friends and his father, DARTH VADER.

DARTH VADER & PROBE DROID Fight as or against the DARK SIDE with the DARTH VADER figure!  Attach the PROBE DROID to the DARTH VADER toy’s arm and press the red button on the top to open up the DROID CLAW.  He also comes with his infamous RED lightsaber.

MACE WINDU & JEDI GRAPPLER The MACE WINDU figure, one of the more experienced JEDI, comes with a JEDI GRAPPLER and PURPLE lightsaber!  Children can launch and reload the hook from the JEDI GRAPPLER by pressing the red button on top and help him fight alongside his fellow JEDI warriors.

($7.99 each; 3 and up; Fall 2005)

C-3PO & R2-D2 The famous gold and silver robot duo from the STAR WARS movies returns!  The C-3PO figure, the gold and shiny robot, and the R2-D2 figure, the white and silver droid, are packaged together to provide preschoolers with the sidekicks needed to help defeat the Dark Side.  Features include: pushing a button to watch C-3PO’s eyes light up and pushing R2-D2’s head to release an arsenal of tools required to repair the X-WING FIGHTERS.

HAN SOLO & JEDI POD Take off across the galaxy with the HAN SOLO figure and his JEDI POD.  Dressed in blue and carrying a white helmet, place the HAN SOLO figure into the pedal straps and snap his hands onto the handle bars to prepare him for launch.  Press the red button to release the wings and fly the JEDI POD!

ANAKIN & JEDI POD Before becoming the evil DARTH VADER, the most famous JEDI, ANAKIN SKYWALKER, took to fighting against the Dark Side.  Dressed in a blue tunic with a black vest, children can use the BLUE lightsaber and JEDI POD of the ANAKIN SKYWALKER figure to protect against enemies.

CHEWBACCA & WOOKIEE SCOUT FLYER HAN SOLO’s favorite furry sidekick, CHEWBACCA, returns to action!  The CHEWBACCA figure comes with a WOOKIEE SCOUT FLYER, used to fly into combat.  Preschoolers can snap the wings on “CHEWBACCA’S back, press the button and turn the small handle to flap the wings.  Attach other figures onto the hook and press the yellow button under the dial to release them.

(Approximate Retail Price: $14.99 each; Recommended Ages: 3 and up; Available: Fall 2005)

The OBI WAN figure and his large, lizard-like animal, BOGA are featured in the DELUXE ASSORTMENT. OBI WAN sits on top of BOGA and moves around in battle.  The OBI WAN figure also comes with a lightsaber that lights up by pressing the button on the bottom.

No word on how many re-paints there will be, but it looks like we'll see at least Luke, Anakin, Vader, and Chewie repainted a few times in 2005.   :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Toy Fair exclusive Press Kit with figures
« on: February 22, 2005, 11:56 AM »

There is a LOT of other stuff I'd spend one grand on before I spend it on this press kit.  No way I could ever justify spending that much for something like this, unless I wonder the lottery or something.

This is no longer getting ridiculous, it is officially ridiculous...  ::)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III Beasts - Boga w/Obi-Wan
« on: February 22, 2005, 11:38 AM »
So, Toy Fair has come and there was only the Boga on the beast front, no sign of "offical" pics of Yoda w/Can-Cel (or whatever that bug is called).

SW has always had a proud tradition of beasties

SW - Dewback, Ronto, Bantha
ESB - Wampa, Taun-Taun
RotJ - Rancor
TPM - Opee, Kaduu, Eopie
AotC - Acklay, Reek, Nexu

I am glad to see that RotS is no exception with at least the Boga and Dragonfly to come...  :)

I'm kinda torn on this one...

The holes take away from the look, but the fact that it can carry three troops and an astromech is pretty cool.  I guess it's another thing that I'll just have to see and hold in person to really know how I feel about it.   :-\

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3
« on: February 21, 2005, 04:38 PM »
Wasn't there something about "friends" passes that Fan Club members would get?

Ah yes, here we go:

Official Star Wars Fan Club members who purchase 4-day badges for Celebration III during the pre-registration period online will receive 4 Friends & Family passes that they can use to share some member benefits with non-members.

Benefits include:
1) entrance to the Convention Center during the "fan club only" hour before the center opens to the rest of the public. Once inside the center members can enter anything that is open during the special hour with no additional identification
2) Entrance into the Fan Club Lounge
3) One access to other Fan Club benefits if any are announced.

So, those of us who ARE in the Fan Club can try to help some of those who are NOT in the Fan Club with the passes.

Since I'm a member of HyperSpace (a Christmas present from family), I should be getting the 4 passes which I will gladly donate to the "Help a Brother Out" foundation to help some poor beer-swilling Canadian get in early or something...

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!
« on: February 21, 2005, 03:54 PM »
Well, these are the same guys who stuck Jango Fett into the ESB BH wave instead of IG-88, right?   :P

I wouldn't be surprised for them to stick an ESB Yoda into the RotS mix for that same reason I guess...

or maybe Yoda uses the same "I'm picking up an X-Wing" pose in RotS and it just confused the people attending the GG booth at Toy Fair?

Still waiting for my Stormies to arrive from - I used the patented Brent move of "ordering in-stock stuff at the same time as out-of-stock stuff".  Man, that was stupid of me...  ::)

A little larger picture from the front page (clicky for big picture):

The more I look at this set, the more my OCD is driving me to bid NOW...  :-[

Welcome to JD.  I hope you enjoy your stay...   :)

Need to hear from:

Sorry, but I think I will have to take a pass this year.  I love Fantasy Baseball, but I've got a lot of stuff going on right now so I won't have a lot of time for the draft.   :(

If it comes down to it and you need one more team, I may be able to swing but for now I'm a "no".

Kubricks / Re: Power of the Kubricks!
« on: February 21, 2005, 09:47 AM »

Very nice!  Looks like I'll have to save up the pennies again for this one.

I like the idea of more of these sets, but with the cost being so high I guess I'd rather they kept doing carded re-paints of existing figures for the exclusives so that I could still ignore them as that is much easier on the wallet... :-\
