Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What have you stopped collecting?
« on: January 15, 2004, 03:57 AM »
Vintage SW, Joes, Transformers, Playmates Star Trek lines et al, I collected as a kid and teen.

Current lines I collect: SW and LOTR

I collected Simpsons until this past year.  I love my Simpsons, but budget concerns and the fact that I didn't have an affinity for a lot of the obscure characters sent this one to an early grave.  Still a great line.

I feel bad for Batman and MOTU collectors.  Thank God Mattel doesn't have the license for any of my favorite lines.  Good grief.

Really?  I think it's a bit more interesting than the others, but maybe that's because the figs here are exciting to me.  It's all good.   ;D

I've never really considered it until recently, but a large part of the appeal of these figures is the costumes and designs and the characters, and those haven't slumped from the OT to the PT IMO.

I have come to the point where if I don't like a character or don't recognize one, I won't buy it.  The background/obscure PT figs don't interest me as much as the OT ones do.  That's mostly nostalgia, but hey.  The Waitress Droid and the Nightclub patrons for example didn't do it for me.  Figs like Adm. Ozzel and Madine and any boring old guy really don't either, but a lot of these great OT figs we're getting in 2004 I've been waiting for since the 80's.

The only real 'wants' from the OT for me are Dorme, some more Jedi, all the Amidala's, and clones.  More clones.    ;D

TB's interest in Bilbo is curious.  With the two coming this year, that will make 5 different versions of a decidedly minor character.  I'm not complaining, since I like him, but very few of the main characters have been treated so well.

Last year's repacks sold very well here.  There are still a few Leia's at Wal Mart, but that's it.

*faints*

 ;D ;D ;D

This will be a day long remembered.  TB nails most of my wishlist in one fell swoop (pun intended!) and finally throws the monkey off its back.  I'm going to be BROKE by the end of this year.

Hasbro is probably shipping the Hoth trooper in so many cases because we keep telling them we want more army builders more often - but this isn't the one, Hasbro.  Give us the SA Clone on Saga card instead.

I'm not sure Anakin and Obi should have even been included.  Why not resissue the Anniversary OT Obi Wan and oh, let's say some Jawas instead?

Lando is a great figure, POTJ great.  Madine is too, but he's a little dull.  Still glad they made him and these two figs make me very happy.  Han... okay.  Hasbro seems very intent on making us happy and they certainly have this year.  Kudos.

That's a good idea, Muftak, and would work brilliantly this year with the DVD's.  Will all these great OT figs (Hoth, Jabba, etc.) be available for people who get reinterested by the DVD?  Should they have held the HoF until then so the OT core characters are right there waiting?

The idea of this asortment makes sense, but maybe more around the time of the DVD, and with some different choices:

Obi Wan - Gets yours at your local KB right now.  May be wishful thinking, but peppering this wave with one or two new figs might have been smart, and this would have been an ideal time for Trophy Obi.

Anakin - KB Part 2.  Plus, he's coming with the glass.

Chewbacca - Sigh.  The Saga one would have made more sense, or even the Anniversary one.

R2 - A good fig but the Holo Leia version was better and more desired.  A no brainer.

Vader - Good choice, but would have been another opportunity to do cancelled Cd-Rom Bespin Vader.

Luke - May be time for a new Tatooine Luke.  (Ducks)

Leia - CommTech, Hasbro.  CommTech.

Han - I guess the best version of this outfit.

Maul - Maul always sells, around here anyhow.

Yoda - Yoda always sells, too.

Stormtrooper - The best choice in the lot.

C-3PO - The second best.

One figure they could repack in every wave as far as I'm concerned is the SA Clone.  It didn't get near enough distribution, and I know people would buy tons of 'em.
