The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: March 9, 2013, 12:31 PM »
I was just thinking how incredibly ageist it was of me to not want to see them back. As long as they're not the focus of the action (running around with blasters and lightsabers and such) like Ford in Indy 4, I'd be OK with this. Not like it's up to me anyway, but...

I really don't like the idea of Han being back, since I think it's happening just so he gets killed off. Again a problem of these characters being frozen in time for me, I guess. Even though I read a bunch of the EU novels in the 90s (giving up around NJO) those never really went 30 years later, and if they have recently, I wouldn't know it.

I do find it strange that one of the complaints about TPM was that Anakin was so young, and now before even a frame has been filmed on the ST, there's complaints about actors being too old.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit - Toy Line

Finished off my first wave collection at K-Mart this week. Worst thing is, nobody touched that display since I raided it in December. Lots of stuff still left, except for the goblin.

$82 for a Ram Man just now.  :P Oh well, them's the breaks. It was by far the cheapest one on ebay.

The only reason I don't like this is because I think the only reason it's happening is to kill off Han Solo, and I hate that idea.

Yeah, I have Target like that. Wave 1 stuff and the only place that carries Bravo vehicles. I caved on the Ninja VAMP at $31 but only because WM doesn't carry them and my local TRU got more Ghost Hawks in this week.

WM has surprised me in the last week. I got everything but Colton, Jaye, and the Dark Ninja through them.

Missed Ram Man (like I knew I would) but I did get Jitsu. It was a very smooth order process, probably due to the fact that shipping on a $27 action figure is now $9.90.

This line is just too expensive anymore. I'll have to pay a king's ransom for Ram Man on ebay, but I figure that and Clamp Champ will be it until Grayskull drops.

I think Castle Grayskull is more on the level of the Millennium Falcon, which Hasbro already did an incredible job with. It's not the play set thing, it's that CG is the centerpiece of any MOTU collection, the same way the BMF is the crown jewel of the Star Wars line.

This is my favorite item I've seen from this year TF (aside from the GI Joe Tomahawk...) so I can't wait to get it. I hope this and the Interceptor don't turn out to be once-and-done like the Unicron repaint they had a couple years ago.

Loving the 90s Jean Grey. I hope it's not impossible to find.

Wow. Lookit Grayskull. The 10 month wait is gonna kill me. BTW, I think Matty opens preorders again after the TF reveal, so hey, after a $300 commitment, Grayskull can be yours too.

Found a case of wave 3, the Alphas, and the second wave of 3-packs at both of my local WMs tonight. Of course, none of them were in the system, so they wouldn't let me buy any, which after tax would have been close to two bills. Guess BBTS will get my money for this stuff, if I don't find them at Target first.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6 Inch Figures?

I didn't see this coming at all. I don't see how vintage tanks at $10 and Hasbro thinks a line at twice that, with an exhausted and overspent fan base, is a good idea. That said, based on how amazing that Luke looks, figures like R2, 3PO, Vader, and Fett will be hard to resist even though I see myself as done with Star Wars collecting.

It's a great time. There's another one this spring, I assume after the movie and Joe Con.

Got this a couple weeks ago:

Darklon!

Joe Con 2012 Darklon. Cost an arm and a leg, but worth it.

Everything in the set's been revealed now. Really liking Asp, Repeater, and Spearhead, but man, was Hit & Run a miss. The SAW Viper isn't really doing anything for me either.

I'm wondering if I should skip this set and wait for ARAH-colored Joes in a future FSS and just buy a Frag-Viper off ebay.

MOTUC- still liking this line, but this year seems like a stinker of a lineup. Glad to see Ram Man, Jitsu, and Clamp Champ, so that's good. Then there's that Grayskull I preordered...

GI Joe- provided the stuff ever shows up. I preordered the second wave of stuff from BBTS since I expect that only TRU will stock the stuff with any regularity. And even then,  it's a Hasbro line, so distribution will be dogshit. The Kre-O stuff looks like a lot of fun, but I'll resist the temptation.

I'll likely spend most of my increasingly rare spare dough on vintage He-Man and GI Joe. I'm glad for the break on Star Wars, and I really don't expect to see anything new until 2015 or whenever Episode 7 hits.
