I think being a fan of the Star Wars movies can lead someone towards collecting Star Wars items. But I don't know if those people are necessarily huge fans of the Star Wars mythos. For example, I get the impression that there are some vintage SW collectors out there who are more interested in collecting the kenner line because it's a unique thing to collect, but their interest in other things Star Wars is low. Sure they will watch the movies, but they may not be interested in the comics, novels, games, or other collectibles. Whereas there are many of us collectors who literally thrive on the Star Wars saga in all its forms.

For me personally, I began collecting Star Wars toys in the early 90's when I started picking up items I had lost from my childhood like a Boba Fett or R2 figure. Then my friends would give me their old toys and suddenly I was looking to add new purchases at every possibilty (which were few being I was in high school at the time). Then in early 1996 I came across the POTF2 line and the poop hit the fan with me collecting as much of the modern line as I like (which is a lot :P). For many modern collectors however, it took the SE's or TPM or AOTC or it will take ROTS to get them into collecting as they either recall the fun they had as kids with the Kenner line or they may be youngins themselves now.

JJ,

I think everyone has done their own MST to a bad movie now and then, one time a friend and I did it to The Phantom Menace, in a theater. Suffice to say we did not get much love from the audience :)

there are no new MST3K episodes being made, there havent for i believe 4 years now. I thought I recall hearing a rumor that Sci-Fi wanted to do a couple of special "movie" episodes but nothing came of it. Rhino owns the DVD license for MST3K however they're limited on what episodes they can release. That's because many of the movie studios which produced the bad flicks that were shown on MST3K, would not allow them to re-broadcast them. In some cases like the Godzilla movies, MST3K made them even more popular so the studios just would promote them on their own. Sad really, cause if MST3K's first 5 seasons were on TV again on a regular basis, I'd be in 7th heaven.

Keep Circulating The Tapes!

hey dave,

oh yeah huge MST3K fan here. i first saw the show in 1992 after I first got cable and just fell in love with the show. was saddened when joel left, but things still were ok, until the disatrous move to sci-fi channel. pretty much all the great minds of the show were gone like frank conniff and trace beaulieu and they got saddled with movies that could in no way be classified as sci-fi (ironic eh?). i thought i would have been more saddened by their final demise, but by the time it happened i was ok with it.

i too have been getting into the kick of watching mst3k lately, ive got a good chunk of early stuff, i'll take a look at your list and give you a shout.

Turn The Lights Out!

Oh yeah wanted to add, my favorite MST3K episode: Ep 212 Godzilla vs Megalon

Go Jet Jaguar Go! :)

I'd like to actually see some EU that establishes a war of attrition that the New Republic faced with the Empire.  Rather than this "Warlords" and "infighting" crap with the Empire, I think the story should've been one where they actually held it together.

I think why we got more of a warlords/infighting scenario in the post ROTJ Empire is due to the fact that the galaxy is such a wide open space and these individual governors or whatever they're called were just looking out for themselves. It's an extension of the corruption of the Old Republic which in turn allowed the Empire to form. Without the iron fist of the Emperor and his military to keep things in order, the status quo returned and we got what we got.

As for what was my least favorite book, well it's a series actually. The Bounty Hunter Wars series. That series has only one endearing feature, the interaction between Bossk and Zuckuss, otherwise the stories are utter crap. From the spider thing in space, to Xizor recording the death of the Lars' it was just so much tripe. Of all the EU books I own, the 3 books that made up this series have yet to be re-read.

people that say "what" out of habit, I don't speak to one of my sisters because of this...

I understand that oh so much, one of my biggest pet peeves (I hope I didn't already mention this) is people who constantly user filler phrases when talking. It's like they cannot complete full sentences and as such have to make stupid uhhh noises or my perennial favorite ya'know. I hate ya'know with a passion! Mostly pro athletes do it, which makes sense since many pro athletes are either illiterate assclowns or have been hit in the head so much they can barely remember their name. So the next time you're talking to someone, if you say ya'know to fill up space in a sentence, feel ashamed!!!!

Oh & of course Heather!  ;)

Picture please.

The rest you have to find!  :P

Damn, I didn;t know heather kozar was a price is right girl. If it wasn't on so damn early in the morning, I'd watch it again.  Like mosnab, I regularly watched it when I was in college before having to leave for class, but since then I don't think i've watched much if any price is right.

Yeah as JJ said, no matter what the item rings up for at the register, all stores have to charge you the advertised price on their shelves. For instance when I went grocery shopping over the weekend, a 39oz can of coffee was marked on the shelves for $3.99, but it rang up at the register at $8.49. I mentioned the discrepancy to the cashier and after a price check they saw I was correct and in turn gave me the can of coffee for free as part of their store policy. Moral of the story, you should always pay attention at the register to see what things get charged at so you don't get screwed.

Wow rebelscum has become quite entertaining as of late, hasn't it? I do have one question though, why is it that defender only needs a few mods, and scum likes to have 10 or more in the catina?

Sorry if it is a stupid question, but i very rarely post over that way any more.

                                             Claude

Well Logray I'm sure there are several valid reasons for why JD only needs a couple of mods as opposed to a dozen at Scum for their "Off Topic" section. One reason would be that the amount of people going thru scum is higher and  as such more idiots go thru there than here at JD. Another reason of course would be that the mods here are you know, competent.

Rock rock on!

1660
Yeah pretty much what JJ and KBZ have said is the truth, you have these people who clearly don't have the concept of how a message board is to be used now becoming moderators and only setting bad examples for the other members many of which themselves have no clue. The thing to remember though is that these kind of people gravitate towards scum, first it was GNT, then it was banky and sithlordtoys, then it was durge and lady jaye, now its people like general windu and yoda boi. It's not something the scum can escape from, but it sure does make for some entertaining spectacles.

1661
LJ a mod? That place is becoming even ********. KBZ is the only one who deserves the position.

Damn, Durge, isn't this your millionth name here?

It's a millionth and one me thinks. I don't get what purpose it serves, too bad they won't let him back in on scum, then he wouldn't be fouling up this place.

She most definitely is, and what an interesting name with Doyle. And Doyle links me to Angel, of which there's another babe on their not mentioned in this thread, Stephanie Romanov, aka Lilah Morgan...

Collections / Re: Chronicling the construction of my Collection Room
« on: November 16, 2004, 10:43 PM »
It's so much fun to see how these projects come together!  I recently finished my Star Wars room, which took me a few months to do.  I don't have nearly enough room (but do we ever?), but overall I'm pretty pleased with it.  Funny thing is though, that you're never really done because there's always new acquisitions to add!  That being said, it sure feels good when you finally release your toys from their "cardboard prisons" after having them stored for so many years.   Keep up the great work and continue to show us the changes you may make!

It sure is, the joy of freeing the figures from their cardboard and plastic coffins is only matched to being able to display them. You're absolutely right, we're never done with our collection displays, I've gotta begin making space now for Episode 3, d'oh! So do you have any pics of your collection up for viewing, would eb cool to see.

Cheers!

Plinko was spiffy, and I remember actually feeling a little bit anxious and excited, even from home.  Could've been the prize girls though, I dunno.

Plinko was the bomb yo!! It was a game of skill and grace and I always loved to see people have near heart attacks as their little puck would go down the board.

Plinko.... America's Game!!!

What the ****, I thought this thread died out long ago, and I turn around and it's still alive! Now I know why I got that cryptic message from Angry Ewok a while back! :P

So yeah scum as usual brings in some ****** up choices for mods, but then again they're mods for wuher's so you might as well let the morons mod each other. Isn't that how GNT got modded?

If it wasn't for that wrestling trivia thread (of which I 0wned all who block my path), I'd never stop into Wuher's. It's just that thread and just the vintage section I visit there now, and sometimes seeing the same posts about scams and not so scams on ebay can be a bit boring. Hell I don't even want to go into the customs section, especially with all the ass-kissing going on in there (JJ: I swear if that happens on the FForums I'm going to blow it up!  >:() So to recap, Scum = teh suck, JD = teh not suck!  :D
