Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Fan Choice #6
« on: February 24, 2004, 02:46 AM »
It's interesting that many people are hammering for many of these figs to be re-released yet everywhere people are complaining about this Fan Choice poll. Though Hasbro has made the precedent that the polls would be used for newer and obscure figures, they've never said it wouldn't be used in this manner. I think this particular poll is a way for Hasbro to answer the call for re-releasals of HTF figs as part of a OTC Line that is majorly re-hashes anyways. The interesting thing is the choice of figures....

* R2-D2 w/ Holo Leia, while this was a VHTF for many, they just recently released the Sail Barge R2 which is a far superior figure as well as the soon to be released HOF R2 which also has a better overall sculpt imo. 2 is enough for one year me thinks.

* Ree-Yees, well here's the alien of the bunch. Many people love to see these types of figs and I suspect this guy will end up with a lot of votes.

* Death Star Trooper, if he wins this will be his 2nd re-release as this guy was part of the unsuccessful Target Accessory line set. What we need here is an all new DST sculpt, not a re-hash of a re-hash of a crappy fig.

* Admiral Motti, my personal favorite of the lot, I'd vote for him if I bothered to register at hasbro's site. Great for fodder and an overall excellent imp officer.

* Stormtrooper Han, WTF??? Instead of having made the DS Screen scene a Walmart exclusive and having them be the ugliest figs on the planet, they wanna re-release the figs one at a time? BLAH all around there!

Thoughts?  ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: KBZ jokes on GNT at scum
« on: February 24, 2004, 02:36 AM »
GNT's biggest problem that I've seen is he often types before realizing what he's about to type. He's had many instances where he's clearly said something that he obviously had no clue about and when he's been corrected in a calm manner by someone else, he doesn't retract his previous statements, he will most times just ignore the correction and continue on talking as if what he said is the gospel. This has often translated to the many situations where he will lock threads cause he's been outted as being wrong. I think he just needs to accept that he can be wrong and just let it all wash over in a non-confrontive manner, if he does he'll be a better mod and a better person for it. If not, he's going to keep getting the same hassles he constantly gets because he deserves them....

My local KB still has about half a dozen POTF2 Ewok Celebration Leias. There's so many price changes on the stickers, from the original 7.99 to 3.99 to 2.99 to 1.99 back to 2.99 its so funny that its sad....

Great comic!

This week's Angel had me "tearing stitches" with laughter, my fave part though had to be when Puppet Angel jumped at Spike and bit him, then they fight into the elevator and you hear something rare, the Irish coming out of Angel... "You damn limey bastard!!"

Great prat falls and bumps by James Marsters in that scene, classic stuff.

As for Bossk here, yeah - the original POTF2 version was pretty sharp, and not even really in need of a resculpt.  But I don't mind that they made an even better one this time around.  I'm sure once we snag this new one and stick it next to the old one, we'll notice all the subtle differences that make the new version much nicer...

Yeah I don't think there was much to change on the POTF2 sculpt either. What makes this particular resculpt even more confusing is they just re-released the POTF2 Bossk in the TRU 4pack, so why take the time to add a new one to the single fig line?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Are you a "bad" person?
« on: February 18, 2004, 05:00 AM »
Is it bad when, after taking the test, you're told that you aren't desired within hell due to the fear of your taking over the joint?

If that is bad, ignore what I just said and don't bother me for a while.

Don't sweat it JJ, the test said I'm cruel, vindictive, and hateful and as such I'm headed for the 5th level of hell along the river styx where the wrathful and gloomy go. Kinda funny, I thought I would be more gloomy than wrathful, but the test says otherwise and who am I to disagree with the internet.  ;) Well at least it makes my avatar more apt. :P

It looks like Joss is resigned to Angel's fate....

From the way it sounds, they won't be looking for the option of another network  :(  :'(  :'( :(

Can I just say one more time... FU WB!!!  >:(

Placebo is good? I saw them once about 5 years ago opening up for Stabbing Westward and the only thing I can recall about them is that the power to their amps went out and they stopped playing and that was the only reaction they got from the crowd, an applause right off the stage.

As for some great concerts I've seen here's my top 5 all time, though not in any particular order:

3/16/02: Dream Theater (this was the 3rd show in 02 where they covered Master of Puppets in its entirety as part of a 3.5 hr show)
2/9/97: Metallica (had front row seats, was a blast, too bad they suck now)
7/19/98: Ozzfest 98 (can't beat Ozzy, Megadeth, Tool, Sevendust, and Motorhead)
7/31/99: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (just an awesome musical event)
6/26/99: Local H (part of a local venue all day event in Chicago called MOBFest)

Looks like Tracks will remain yellow. It looks like such a cool TF, but the yellow coloring is a big distraction.

Might I just say, a big FU! to the WB. They're so in love with making those damn teeny bopper and urban crap shows that get them no attention whatsoever, but damn if a show that is critically acclaimed nationwide sparks a bit of attention, cancel the freakin thing so as to stop the steamroller. Screw the WB, Angel was the only thing that got me to watch that POS network, now approximately 3.5 million people each week will stop watching them and hopefully it will help mean an end to the WB.

There's also this petition: created by the folks at

Sad to see the best show of its ilk on TV ending in the prime of its life. Hopefully another network will save the show.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Passed on Court Denizens...
« on: February 12, 2004, 06:19 PM »
Well I just picked up these sets yesterday, was amazed to find them. I had to stand there a moment or two to decide if I really wanted to pick them up, but I went ahead with the purchase anyways. I've not opened them yet, won't be doing that for a while,  but I'm looking at the Jabba and it's definitely worth the $10 as it's a nicely detailed set (granted no dais, but I'll live with that for now). Meanwhile, the Denizens is a bit questionable in that yeah you get 3 figs, but something seems awkward. That awkwardness is probably coming from the size of the packaging. There's so much extra space in the bubble that the offerings look small. However, we're getting a formerly $10 exclusive in the Monk, plus a nice Bubo and the small Cabbashite for all of $10 and it comes to be acceptable.

As for group pics of Bubo with other Jabba denizens, I found the following pics....

Yeah I just found Sideswipe this evening, looks like a case had been put out today as there was the lone Sideswipe which I swiped (pun intended :P) and 4 Smokescreens.

The transformation on Sideswipe was a lot quicker for me than on Smokescreen, The only things that concern me are that the steering wheel popped off easily when trying to finish the torso and it could easily get lost. Plus his legs look a little crooked when standing normally. But overall another great TF!!!
