Other Toy Lines / Re: ReAction Lines

It's been a while now but I found one of the big displays of figures at B&N and picked up an Alien and Rocketeer.  I like them both and was happy to see them in person rather than ordering online.

My Target moved on from BttF to Firefly and they disappeared the other day and they have Horror figs like the Crow and Freddy Kruger.  It seems like Target is rotating them out which is cool. I'm hoping they maintain that end cap of collector figures, even the Funko Pop! Vinyl and Disney blind-boxed stuff is selling well.  Not so much the 6"-ish video game characters.

I also saw a bunch of figures at TRU last time I was in and looked through the other Alien figures along with Terminator and a few other lines.

I don't know if the 4" Star Wars line will ever go away or if they'll even completely abandon the collector market that is targeted by the $10 BS line partly because they're so far into it that changing up scales could alienate a huge part of their base and also it's still less expensive than a 5" or 6" line.  Besides, who knows what Lucasfilm/Disney is thinking, they may be mandating a 4" line.  Until they're not.

I think you may be right on the GIJ line when it comes to production.  With movies for four Marvel properties and Transformers all in theaters this year and Rebels on TV, that doesn't leave a lot of room for a property that's seen sagging sales in a movie year and only has a comic to support it. Why waste production line time or have to fight for more shelf space at retail?

I know it's a good marketing move for Hasbro to have product for a film like Amazing Spider-Man or Guardians, but I think they should take a page out of Marvel's playbook and integrate their movie figures into a cohesive line for collectors. They're sort of doing this with the Marvel Infinite line now but if they had one branding and just release regular waves themed around the current movie property and then fill in with general releases to fill in the gaps it would make it easier to give attention to other lines like GI Joe.

I'm really looking towards the FSS 3.0 line of Joe figs from the Club though and I can not wait until my Marauder's figures show up.  In the end I probably won't loose any sleep over Hasbro not doing Joe at retail if these kinds of alternatives exist.

I've been completely underwhelmed with the SW 6" scale stuff.  Of the three figures I've picked up all have what I consider to be major flaws whether it was in design or manufacturing.  I wouldn't be in for any of the Joe stuff either.

And Jesse, Joe isn't quite dead but outside of the GI Joe Club, it's really just a movie year property for Hasbro now.  Apparently they have new person in charge of the brand at Hasbro though so maybe we will see something more than the 50th Anniversary stuff?

Target stores are adding a new collectibles end cap and they have things like the Funko Pop! vinyl stuff, blind-boxed Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, and Marvel bobble heads and some ReAction figures.  Mine had only 3 when I found them last night; all Back to the Future stuff and just Marty.  I've seen some pics online of other properties.  Was hoping for a mix, get some Alien and Rocketeer maybe.

Anyway, be on the lookout.

I got my Danger at the Docks set from TRU, the SDCC set.  I haven't opened it yet but I was happy to be able to order it.  You can see that the paint apps on Flint, at least, are a little sketchy, especially the arms.

I stopped in TRU on Saturday and they had three of the Heat Viper sets but that was it.  Looked like they were in the middle of a reset and I didn't bother to ask if they had more because, well, I just don't want to ask and be told "what we have is on the shelf" which I'm batting 1000 on at TRU during the last 20 years of collecting.

I'm less than impressed with what Hasbro is doing for the 50th because it's the 50th of the 12" line anyway and they did **** in that department.  ****'em.  I was happy with some extra $5 Retaliation figs from Five Below.

I'm with Muftak, when these first started I wasn't sure about them but after having a couple of them, they're pretty cool.  I decided not to collect a lot of them due to size, but I have Fett and Yoda and really like both.  I have the AT-AT Driver on order and I'm really psyched to have that in my possession.

I think there have been a couple missteps on them, some of the capes were off early on, and there have been a couple quality issues with some figures.  It'll be interesting to see how the vintage Joe articulation scales up and, as I said, I may be in for a couple if they get to some of my more favorite characters.

Those and Kre-O from Hasbro.  Very sad...very, very sad.

I'm up in the air on the Exo Suit.  I like anything that's sort of classic Space but thought I'd wait on this...but if it's a one run deal I'll probably order it.

I kinda liked the idea of the Jumbo figure so having GI Joe figures doesn't bother me one way or the other.  The one thing I don't like, however, are the straight arm versions.  I know that's how they started out but all of those first releases got swivel arm re-releases in short order so I think GG could have started there and people wouldn't have complained.  I'm not a big enough fan of those original 82 Joes to buy in on these but if they add the swivel arm and get around to figures like Recondo or Snake Eyes V2 and Storm Shadow...I could be talked into them possibly.

I also like the idea of the footlocker for the first release and wouldn't mind if they all came that way rather than on the big bubble packaging with the card back.  I realize the goal is for them to look just like the originals but the footlocker idea I really like.

Gina Carano has no bad side, brunette, blonde or other as far as I'm concerned.

But, her or Katee would be good in either role (Thor or Captain Marvel).  So why choose, let's have both!

Apparently there's a wave 2....  Yeah... Good luck with that.  ::)

While I'm happy to see these on BBTS, or any online retailer for that matter, I have to wonder why?  Did TRU decide not to take the full load and Hasbro needed another outlet?  Or did Hasbro decide TRU didn't have the reach and didn't want to leave money on the table?

The skeptic in me wants to see this as happening due to something possibly not working out with TRU in the way it was first set up by Hasbro.  But, who knows...

I don't recall ever really caring what a movie's name was as long as it didn't suck.

If you spotted Blind Master then it was probably the wave with Jinx and the Night Vipers in it.  Lady Jaye and Colton were repacked in that wave with the Cyber and Dark Ninjas and a couple other figs...maybe a Roadblock.  I spotted that wave at TRU a couple weeks ago and picked up the NV figs and Jinx.

I spotted the Ultimate wave again at Five Below the same day; that's with Ultimate Duke, Flint, Roadblock, SE, SS, Cobra Commander, Combat Ninja, CG, Kwinn, Budo and Data Viper and one other I'm not thinking of...might be the Dark Ninja though.

Some of these waves have been showing up at Tuesday Mornings stores also.  Not sure how long the restocking will last but it's been a good ride.  I filled in the last couple of holes and picked up some army builders so I'm pretty happy especially as it doesn't look like we'll get anything else besides this 1 and done 50th anniversary wave until the next movie...and we don't know when that will be.  And speaking of that 50th wave, I'm still interested to see if we actually get it.

I just didn't understand if everyone is outside getting things mopped up, why did they leave Garrett's body on the ground inside? Shouldn't there have been someone around bagging him? He puts himself together and I thought here is the beginning of Aquarius but then gets splatted into goo by Coulson.

I thought the same thing.  I thought that whole scene was unnecessary.  Other than that, I really liked the season finale.

So whats with the same guy running the Playground as he did in the other hidden bunker? Is he a clone or medical hologram-type guy or just some alien? No more Ward on the team but I think he will be back. He still has to grab Skye for her father. I just wonder if the black guy is also Hydra since he initially showed up with Garrett.

I don't think Triplett is Hydra.  It was mentioned that he is a grandson of a Howling Commando (I'm assuming Gabriel Jones) and that's where the team got some of the weapons used in the last couple episodes.

So whats with the same guy running the Playground as he did in the other hidden bunker? Is he a clone or medical hologram-type guy or just some alien?

I wonder if he's just simply a twin.

He didn't seem too broken up over his brother's death if he was a twin.  Maybe a clone or the new Marvel universe version of a Life Model Decoy?
