The Vintage Collection / Re: 2025 Hasbro Pulse Fan Stream Reveals
« on: February 26, 2025, 12:43 PM »
A bit light on TVC, but Emily hinted there might be more at Toy Fair this weekend.

Nice to get confirmation on the landspeeder. Hopefully that is not going to cost more than the Speeder Bikes (without a pack-in I feel that is still reasonable even with today's prices). I can't image wanting to spend to much more that than on a small vehicle...

Ponda Baba looks fine, he was an obvious rerelease. I'm bummed he didn't get some additional retooling but the updated paint looks like a minor improvement.

The Commando looks fantastic and the accessories all look great, that being said I may have preferred to forgo some of the accessories to get him on a single card. As a deluxe, I likely won't be picking up as many of them and will hope it gets rereleased in either a troop-builder pack or on a basic card.

Hammerhead is everything I was hoping he's be (aside from being a deluxe, but that was definitely expected). They included enough accessories to make it feel like he is worth the deluxe price. Given that he is an "Original 96" figure I wish they would have found a way to get him onto a standard card (even if it was at the Deluxe price), the Hasblab Zeb shows they could have done it with a large figure w/ large accessories. It will be interesting to see how big he actually is once we have him in hand.

The guitar stand is a great idea. That's a nice little Akbar focus you have there Rob!

Collector's Tips / Re: Platoon Systems Action Figure Stands
« on: February 19, 2025, 04:10 PM »
I saw them in Anthony's video too and would be curious to try them out. But even as someone with a decent-sized army myself, I don't tend to use a lot of figure stands. I don't care for the way they limit the display options. While those seem reasonably priced, the cost of these definitely adds up when buying in bulk, too. They are a really nice design but I will probably wait to buy any on a large scale unless I have a specific plan for them.

The older figure lines were much better at having standard-sized foot peg holes.  TVC is a hot mess.

We mostly have the rocker-ankles to thank for that. It seems to drastically limit the amount of negative space in the feet to put a peg hole.

Nice. The Chopper-unit works well for this one and the colored panels look really clean.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2025 TVC Wave 2 (New TVC Wave 41)

My case from EE arrived today. The Snowtrooper is FANTASTIC. I was fine with the VTSC version, but this is a really nice upgrade. Hasbro did a great job on the shoulder armor making it flexible enough not to impede any poses. The head articulation is a bit impeded, but it's not a big deal. I wish he had a holster but that'd be a bit tricky w/ the softgoods.

Ayup. I just got a notice from EE that my (canceled) case has shipped. I guess I'll have to see if they will take a few Evazans back and then cancel a few other preorders...

Got a shipping email from Entertainment Earth today, Dr Ezavan should be here this Saturday.

And he came a day early. The updated paint apps look pretty good and the cardback is really sharp. Not bad at all for a rerelease. I'd be astonished if Ponda Baba isn't rereleased this year too.

I'm happy with the TVC 1.0 Landspeeder, but with the all-new Cantina, Luke, & Old Ben and the fact that the last Landspeeder came out nearly 15 years ago, it makes too much sense to not revisit it. We have to be getting Sandtroopers this year based on that image too. They are long overdue on the new Stormtrooper buck.

I imagine they are there just for the photo, but I really wish Hasbro would rerelease the TAC moisture vaporator, I only bought one originally and really would love a few more for my displays, but the Luke that they originally came with is usually close to $30 after shipping, which is more than I want to spend on them. But I guess w/ today's prices, a new rerelease in a deluxe set would likely be close to that anyway...

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2025: What Are You Collecting?
« on: January 28, 2025, 01:10 PM »
2025 will likely be pretty similar to 2021-2024 for me:

We are still in a bit of a holding pattern with my WFH office/collection room renovation. I've considered my current space just a temporary collection room, but it has been "temporary" for five years now. There's a chance it will still change this year as we are talking about a significant home renovation or moving. (It is crazy that a collection room can be a deciding factor for a house...) Space is running out in my room as is, and I have 80% of my collection in storage and just rotate out my displays.

Star Wars 3.75" --

This is still far and away the primary focus of my collection. I mostly focus on TVC & the newer modern lines. I am one of the absolute rubes who Hasbro has suckered into collecting BOTH LOOSE & CARDED. Loose is my main focus but a few years ago I needed a backdrop for my Zoom meetings and had some unopened TVC figures lying around, so I threw them on the wall and then it just kind of stuck. I still have some older pre-TVC carded figures, but I probably will get rid of most of those and stick to just the TVC cards & a few select items from older lines (like the TAC McQuarrie figures).

For the Hasbro line I generally do 1 of each figure loose & carded and I still army-build. I am currently backfilling my TVC 1.0 carded collection and try to pick up about 1-2 older figures per month when I see them for a reasonable price. I do not care about minor variants but do try to grab the MAJOR ones for each VC#. There are also some older modern-era figures that I either missed when they came out or got rid of that I have been picking up as I see them.

I'm sure at some point the space required & money involved will make me reevaluate all of this, but I am not there yet.

Star Wars Other Lines --

I occasionally pick up The Black Series 6", TBS Helmets, HotToys, & Tamashi Nations samauri figures but am generally very selective and only grab it if I love it and have a place to display it, generally no more than 3-4 total pieces a year from all of those lines combined.

Game of Thrones & House of the Dragon Funko Pops --

Funko hasn't been making quite as many of these in the last few years, and I mostly still collect the line, but the vast majority of it is in storage. I used to be a completionist outside of some of the rarest chases versions. I have most of the common pops, and theoretically just need some of the rare and chase variants, but I haven't felt motivated to track them down or spend the bigger bucks on them. I will likely continue to pick up commons on these but I have slowed down drastically in the past few years on these. Since most of these are currently in storage, I have been seriously considering how much longer I want to keep collecting this line and have considered selling it off.

LEGO --

While I still very much wantto collect all of the LOTR, SW, classic Castle & Pirate sets, and the collectible Mini-Figs, I just don't have the space (or $). Most of my Lego are in currently in storage and I don't have room to build or display any of it. I may pick up some sets here and there if I really can't resist, and may try to grab Rivendell & Barad-dûr before the sets get retired, but it is more likely that I won't pick up any this year.

Jazzwares "World of Halo" --

I found a few of these at Ross in the last year and really like them. Given that the line isn't too large I may track down a few more figures from the line for a small diorama/display, but due to limited space, it won't be too many more.

Other Lines --

Outside of all the above, I will occasionally pick up some SW/Marvel/random Pops or other random items if something really catches my eye, but I am generally pretty selective. Given that space is running out that will likely continue.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2025 TVC Wave 1 (New TVC Wave 40)

Got my case from EE this weekend, and was a little bummed out. They changed the case ratio from what was listed so that it came w/ two Anakin's & one Dedra Meero, instead of the other way around. Including the individuals I had ordered from Amazon, I ended up with four total Anakin's instead of three, and one less Dedra than I wanted. I guess I'll have to return an Anakin to Amazon and pick up an extra Dedra instead.

The case assortment issue aside, this was a really strong wave to start off the year. There wasn't a stinker in the wave. The only repaint in the wave is an army builder and technically speaking is a variant we didn't already have since it is based on the Ahsoka appearance rather than AOTC or TCW. Indara is a great Jedi figure (regardless of my indifference towards the source material). Dedra felt way more new than some of the initial pictures, and is an excellent figure. The Skywalkers are both phenomenal figures, but Luke is the star of the wave.

I went with four sets. It will be interesting to see how much sturdier the plastic/legs are on this version, the other ones were so gummy.

Thanks Jeff! I ended up grabbing a case and canceling my original Yord preorder. I also grabbed a bunch more of the 501st Clones.

Good grief they can't give them away.

It's really kind of surprising given the supposed demand for him. I get the $24.99 "Deluxe" price point being too high for people, but at these low clearance prices, I just don't get it. I bought 5 of him total (1 carded, 1 to display loose w/ helmet on, 1 loose w/ helmet off, and 2 extra loose figures for customs or alternate scenes).

He must have been waaaaay overproduced, if not it could be a but of a worrying sign for the line's health.
