Yeah, those results blow my mind too.  It just goes to show you that the folks at most of the "adult" oriented collecting sites online aren't at all representative of the overall voting pool.  Blech.

Not surprising at all to see that Bespin Guard in the last place slot.  That was only (originally) included since folks were hoping for the black variant.  When Hasbro accepted that vote, then changed their mind, to only include the ****** POTJ version, they should've just pulled that horrid choice out of the lineup altogether, and given the spot to a more deserving choice.

Nice to see R3 finish in the Top 10, and a bit surprising since that figure apparently finished 21st in the original vote, and only squeeked in there when the VOTC Han got ditched at the last second.  I still can't believe how low the VOTC Stormie finished.  That's really the best indicator on who's voting for this ****.  People (mostly kids) want boatloads of Prequel/EU army building Clones, but not the ultimate OT army builder.  Go figure.  ::)

As far as EB Chewie's terrible finish, I'm guessing that the voting majority were just completely unaware of the differences with this Chewie, so they weren't even remotely inclined to vote for it, just seeing it as another rehash/re-release.  Equally ****** and surprising finish for Blue Snag.  In fact, come to think of it, based on these other results from the OT based figures, I'm pretty perplexed as to how Zev managed to do so well, when all of his OT counterparts stunk the joint up.

****** poll.

I often enjoy a good comparison shot like that, to see how close the toy came to the actual thing.

This isn't one of those times.  :-X

...And no, after 12 years of double-completism, I ain't gonna pull a "Jeff" and turn back now!  :P

R5-X2 is in Stock

I just checked my order status at SWS.com, and apparently both of my droids have already shipped out.  $91+ for four astromechs.  Puke.

I'll check your trade thread out to see if there's anything of interest in there for me.  I'm long overdue in updating mine, so I'll try to do that soon!  In the meantime, drool over this Force Unleashed minis poster:

Some cool looking stuff in there for sure, and I'm excited to see that this whole series won't be solely dedicated to TFU, and that they're still sneaking in some nice OT stuff.  No idea why they're essentially re-releasing the same Bespin Escape Leia as in the Alliance & Empire line from a few months ago.  That's bizarre.  Nice to see Amanaman in the mix finally!  That Hoth battle sure is rounding out pretty nicely as well.  8)

Thanks to jedi_master_sal for the pic!

Congrats on making yourself feel bad.  ;)

Thank you.  I try.  :P

I wish you hadn't made me actually verify things though.  I felt better not specifically knowing.  But I felt bad long before I saw your post...  Somewhere between the second (fourth) wave of Legends and Wave 6 of TAC, probably.  :-X

And unless you are building some massive armies, you probably didn't spend a grand on all of these.  At an average price of $7, that would be like 140+ figures or about 12 cases.  If you buy two of everything, you're probably out maybe half that, which is still a good chunk of change.   ;)

Actually, it's definitely over a grand.  Maybe you didn't read all of my prior post(s), but I collect a minimum of three of each figure (carded, loose, diorama/custom fodder), and about double that (if not a little more) on army builders.  So 3 - 6 of each figure, at $7.18 ea, for waves 4 (just Vader & CZ), 5, 6, eight UGHs, 2 Legends waves (including variants) = $1,000+.  Sorry, I'm an auditor, and I'm pretty good at math.  ;)

This week (9/28 - 10/3):

16 TAC figures
11 Legends figures (so far)
-------------------
27 new basic figures
x3 (minimum) each
-------------------
81 basic figures

8 UGH figures (still need 1 more)
x2 each (don't need extras of these)
--------------
16 UGH figures

That's 97 figures so far, not including any extras for army building, which already puts me at $696.46.

I count all 11 of the Legends figures as "army builders", plus CZ, General McQuarrie, and the Concept Snowtrooper, so that's 14 figures that I'd want additional extras of.  So an average of 3 each for those additional 14 figures, at $7.18 each = another $301.56.  That's cranks my total up to $998.02 now, then we add the several more figures that I wanted more than 6 of, and a few other HTF figure pickups for some buddies (which technically don't count towards my personal net total), puts me over $1,000, easy.

See, now aren't you glad you disputed my calculations?  Never question an auditor with OCD.  :P

(and yes, I buy way too much of this ****)  ::)

So, anyone know the deal with the clean white paldron Sandie? That's a surprise.

You mean like this one, that CHEWIE just found...?

Yep, looks like a definite (intentional) variant there.  I dig the fact that they're making the Sandies both clean and dirty.  I'm guessing they'll do a clean one for every color that they're doing a dirty one for.  Twice the variants, for double the cost.  But will it ever end?!?  Oy.  Makin' my head spin, all this stuff is...

The flood of new stuff in the past week or two has left me feeling more overwhelmed than probably any time in the past 12 years of modern collecting (including the Midnight Madness parties).  Finding the rest of Wave 4 (McVader & CZ), all of Wave 5, all of Wave 6, eight more UGHs (already had the first three), and the last several new assortments (full of variants) of the Legends line has burned a complete and total hole in my wallet.  With "needing" both carded and loose specimens, along with army builders, I'm pretty sure I've dropped over a grand on this **** in the last 10 days (I dare not add all the receipts up to verify that though).  Hasbro really needs to slow their product down a bit here, and soon, or they're going to seriously burn a lot of folks out real quick at this crazy pace.  Good lord.  :-\

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: What is wrong with Target?
« on: October 4, 2007, 02:18 AM »
Outside of a few reports, I have not heard about Traget getting anything in stock. WM now is up 3 waves on Target.

Being in the same area as you, I'm definitely seeing the same thing, and it's really odd since Target usually kicks WMs ass around SoCal.  But for whatever reason, they've been totally high and dry for the last couple months around here, with only a brief glimpse of a few Wave 4 figures here and there, along with hardly any of the new Legends stuff.  In the meantime, WM is completely flooded with waves 4, 5 & 6, and all the new Legends figures.  So they're really up about 5 waves, if you include the Legends line too.

I hate this, because I'm a huge Target supporter, and prefer to do ALL of my SW shopping there.  I absolutely abhor WM, and it completely disgusts me every time I step into that store.  But aside from the lack of any new SW inventory, Target as a store still wipes the floor with WM, which is the most repulsive environment a shopper could possibly step into.  As far as employees and customer service, I think it's night and day between the two of them as well.  Try returning a couple figures to both stores and see what happens.  At Target, you're in and out in 15 seconds with no line, and maybe a few minutes if there is a line.  At WM, it takes nearly 5 minutes with no line (with their ridiculously antiquated returns system), and if there is a line, forget it.  You're looking at nearly an hour sometimes.

Anyway, I better just shut up or I'll go on and on about the differences between these two stores for hours.  One thing's for sure, as soon as Target finally gets some new figures in, my Waves 4, 5 & 6, and Legends figures that I bought at WM, are all getting returned to WM.  I hate supporting that ****hole.

I found Wave 6 cases en masse at all my local WMs tonight.  All superb looking figures, for sure (if not a little boring, but that goes with the characters).  Of the numerous 4-LOMs I looked at, there was a lot of variance in the amount of "rust weathering" on him, especially on the round middle section, so if that's of any interest to anyone, shop around a little to find one that looks just right.

Haven't opened any of them up yet, so I'll reserve judgement on the rest 'til later.  All in all, nice (albeit small) wave.

Yeah, glad to finally see you pop on over here to JD, Chris!  Like Dale said, it was fun hangin' out with you guys at C4.  Good luck with your Hasbro fire sale, and we look forward to chatting with you around the boards here...  8)

P.S.  Roger's already here, just rather infrequently.

I see that Chris has finally signed up here at JD, so I guess I'll get him started with some feedback here since he was generous enough to help me out with a few HTF exclusives at C4 earlier this year.  Great guy, and a trustworthy trader to be sure, so don't hesitate to deal with him!  Thanks for the help Chris, and good luck with your sale...

Here's his sterling feedback at GH and RS as well, for anyone interested.

Yeah, I agree.  While the character/outfit of the VOTC Lando may be rather boring, IMO Hasbro did as good a job as they could with the figure, and in that respect I think it turned out great.  No complaints.  Same can be said for the Smuggler version, I think.  Boring outfit, but it looks like the figure's turned out pretty nice.  I haven't seen one yet, so I can't comment on the articulation, but otherwise I dig it, and am stoked to finally be able to cross that figure off my wants list after all these years.

As for the Torture Rack accuracy, as a basic figure pack-in accessory, I really can't complain.  If this figure was in a deluxe line where the TR (and pricepoint) were more of a factor, I'd probably be willing to nitpick it a bit more.  That said, I'm all for accuracy, and would love to get another TR later on down the line, perhaps in the aforementioned Deluxe line, where I pay a little more to hopefully get a bit more detail and accuracy on the accessory.  But for the time being, this one will do just fine.  Again, I'm just thrilled to finally get this piece and cross it off the wants list of many years!

Can't believe this wave is already out.  Waves 4, 5, and 6 have come in a complete blur.  I only found Wave 5 a few days ago (wave 4 maybe 3 weeks ago), and now 6 is suddenly here.  At this pace, we'll be half way through the 2008 line before 2007 is over...  :P
