Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A Game of Thrones (HBO)

I picked up the season 1 box set at Target today.  I haven't watched it yet, but there's an exclusive disc that's included with the Target version.

Thanks for the pics.  I'm definitely liking the Avengers version better.

A question for anyone who was collecting both the Thor line and the Avengers line:  are there any differences between the King Loki figure from the Thor line, and the new Loki figure in the Avengers line?

The Vintage Collection / Re: Recent Vintage Collection Purchases

They may lose in one area but gain in lots of others. But still it goes to show how much of a markup there is on this stuff. Online stores rip us off even more.

I can't agree with that last statement.  WalMart has FAR more buying power than any online store, and as such they can buy from their suppliers at a greater discount.  WalMart may pay $4 per vintage figure, but an online retailer like EE is likely paying at least $6 per figure.   And it's simply because of volume.  Retail will generally mark up their stock 100% from their cost.  WalMart prices figures at $8.96 per figure, so their cost is probably $4 - $4.50.  EE on the other hand sells individual SW figures for $11.99, so based on the traditional retail model you have to expect their cost per figure is in that $6 neighborhood.

The marauders definitely had a ninja thing going on.  And when the helmets came off the lead marauder reminded me of a character from Hellboy - The Golden Army, and interestingly enough those characters were also subterranean.

I think the Cantina scene was cool but not overdone.  But just how many things of note have gone down at Chalmuns over the years?  Didn't we see something there with Baron Papanoida in there from last season?

The character examination of Asajj was subtle but worthwhile.  It showed some depth to her and her motivations.  Now she seems prepared to move on.  That seemed to be how things wound up in the REPUBLIC comic series, but via different means.

Not sure if this has been posted here...not much new but it's something.

Wave 3

Wave 4
[ ] Nick Fury

This seems to be missing Movie Hawkeye from the basic figures.  And of course there are the other items in the line, line the parachute Captain America and an Iron Man in that same assortment.  There's also some kind of Battle Armor with Cap & Iron Man as well.  Plus there is a vehicle & figure assortment with Cap & Iron Man.  Last but certainly not least is the Quinjet which ALSO includes an Iron Man figure.

After a couple of weeks it seems that all of the new characters in this WM exclusive wave have been moving, and the repacks like Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Yoda & the Destroyer are lingering.  Funny enough, I think I've only seen the Tusken Raider one time.

I've seen some Game of Thrones merch listed on EE.  It seems a little bit limited at the moment.  Some mugs & posters so far.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Star Trek

Some photos from the set of the new Star Trek film have started to surface.  This makes Hasbro's acquisition of the ST license seem that much more significant.

More clearance goodness at Target.  I was able to find some Target exclusive TVC 3-packs marked down to $5.83 each.  I managed to score a couple of the Rebel sets.  I think this price is probably as low as these are gonna go.

Also, at TRU the Pod Racer 5-pack exclusive is on sale for $19.99 from now through March 10th.

I've been a life long fan but never saw them in concert until a few years ago at Disney's California Adventure. It was a blast!

Anybody see the Monkee's movie "Head" ? What did you think of it?

It's definitely on the trippy side.  And an interesting sidenote is that Jack Nicholson was one of the screenwriters for that film.

This Asajj storyline really does seem to fly in the face of what had been established in the Dark Horse comics REPUBLIC title.  But I guess the CW animated series will serve as the new canon for Asajj.

Make your voices heard with your dollars, folks.  But also look at these two new battle packs with the mindset that these aren't targetted at collectors.  I get that, and I'll be passing on these.  In the past couple of years we've gotten all of these characters in better forms than this.

North Jersey at a WalMart, about 20 miles outside the city.  Thing is, I only found one figure so far.  But where there's one there are bound to be more.

The unmasked Cap looks okay.  I've seen that one in person and at first I started thinking "Oh no, they're going to try throwing variations into the mix to make this line hot".
