Pete, remember if you pick up the Boga and AT-RT don't forget about spending $5 more to get a free Holo Yoda.  I played with the Boga last night and it just owns everyone.  Takes out the AT-RT in one swipe, because it can hit both targets at once.  They should've probably put the targets on the side for the AT-RT.  On a gaming note, does the AT-RT get to fire all 4 missles on its turn?

Hey Jay - yeah - I picked up both the AT-RT and the Boga along with another Booster Pack to score my sixth free Yoda yesterday on my way home from work!

My son and I aren't sure about how the AT-RT gun works. Does it mean you get four shots per turn with that thing? If it does, you could literally play with one side having JUST the AT-RT. I wonder if there is any info on the "Ask the Expert" page over on www.attacktix.com?

I really like these, wish I had someone to play against! I tried to get the wife
to do battle, but thats just not gonna happen, lol.  For now I`ll just shoot
the missiles and let the cat bring them back to me, he loves it.

I didn't like these and was almost insistent on not liking these until my son got a couple of promo baggied ones at WalMart during the tent event. We shot the missiles at each other and I was amazed at how strong the missile blast is! I had originally thought that these things would be weak, but the springs in the weapons really pack a punch.

If I didn't have my son to "battle" with then I don't think I would have ever even given these a chance...

Ok - well - thanks to a pending trade from JayDouble and my OCD leading to me picking up the Boga, AT-RT and four more Booster Packs this morning (did anyone notice that they are a whole $1 cheaper at WalMart? I'm definitely buying any more I get there!), I now have a complete set except for:

#30 Yoda - who is a "Super Rare" figure.

I'm tempted to just pick him up on eBay. I don't know how far I'm going to go with these chrome figures. I have six so far (and two duplicates for trade) - I think getting a set of Chrome variants is going to be next to impossible. Out of 22 Booster packs that I've opened, I haven't gotten a single Super Rare Chome Variant   :(

As C-3PO would say - "this is madness!"

Alright, this is what I've been wondering ever since I got these blasted things. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHETHER THEY'RE COMMON, RARE, OR WHATEVER???

There are 5 common, 10 rare and 15 super rare. You have a checklist right? Figures #1 - #5 are the commons. Figures #6 - #15 are the rares. Figures #16 - #30 are the super rares.

This is how they worked it so each Booster Pack contains 1-common, 1-rare and 1-super rare.

If it was an even mix of all three types (i.e. 10-common, 10-rare, 10-super rare) the fact that there is one of each type in each pack would negate any "rareness" to any figure.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Thoughts?

I think that in ROTJ he does redeem himself simply because he doesn't kill the Emperor/Sidious to take the #1 Sith spot, he kills him to save his son, at the cost of his own life.

Before the climax in the Emperor's throne room on the DS2, there is that scene between Vader and Luke on Endor - this is the scene that plants the seed for Vader finally breaking free from the complete hold on him the Dark Side has had. I have always felt that there is some really great emotion in those lines spoken by Vader - "Obi-Wan once thought as you do...", "It is too late for me, son..." - both poignant lines that are made even more so by things we have seen (or will soon see) in the PT.

Also, remember - Vader turns out to be a disappointment to Sidious. Vader is more machine than man and can never truly yield some of the Dark Side's more potent abilities - for example Force Lightning - because his life relies on machines, Vader can not wield it - this too brings more evidence to the fact that Vader kills Sidious out of redemption instead of a Sith master/apprentice killing - Vader knew that if he got within two feet of that Sith lightning all of his electrical systems would be shorted out and he would be dead. So his choice was (a) continue to serve his master or (b) destroy his master who has orchestrated so much pain to himself, his family and the galaxy...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS variation/error thread
« on: April 11, 2005, 09:25 PM »
So, what is the deal with the #35 Palpatine sabers?

Some people are saying it is intentional because at some point Palpatine has Anakin's saber in RotS.

Other people are saying it's an error because the figure was based on early filming stuff but the error is now fixed with the red saber figure.

The rest of the people, like me, are trying to figure it out.  :(

Do I need one of these Blue Saber Palpatines or not?  If it's a variation/error, I can pass on it because I want the movie accurate Red Saber one to open.  But, then again, if this Palpatine w/Anakin's saber deal pans out and is in the movie, then I'm going to want one....  ::)

Jeff

Actually Jeff - NEITHER version may be "movie accurate" - I got two Red Saber versions at Kohls yesterday morning and the hilt of the lightsaber is STILL Anakins! That's right - to correct the lightsaber color, all Hasbro did was change the color of the blade, NOT the lightsaber handle!

IMHO - this figure just gets more and more screwed up as time passes. Next thing you know, we're going to get one where the handle is correct and the blade is blue and then finally a perfectly correct figure where the handle is correct and the blade is red!

Ok - so on the way home from work tonight I went to TRU and they had a palet of stuff waiting to be shelved so I grabbe two more cases of these things (12 booster packs in all) and had them ring them up separately so I got two more Yodas...

So now I have all but 5 of the first 34 figures, and I also have 5 chrome base variants....

Anyway, I started an Attacktix Trading Thread in case anyone is interested in trading their Super Rares or Rares to help complete their sets. I also (unfortunately) ended up with a duplicate Chrome Base figure - #12 Clone Lieutenant so that's up for trade as well...

Tomorrow I'll probably purchase the Attacktix Boga and AT-RT just to finish off the set - that will leave only the Battle Case and then my OCD can rest with regards to this line -- that is until Wave 2 comes out....

I've really done myself in this time!

*MODIFIED 4/12/2005 TO REFLECT TRADE WITH JayDouble AND THE FOUR BOOSTER PACKS I PICKED UP THIS MORNING*

Ok - didn't see any topic that dealt directly with trading Attacktix so I thought I would start one.

I bought $150 worth of Attacktix in the last two days and I now have almost a complete set of the currently available 30 blind-boxed figures.

(c) = common; (r) = rare; (sr) = super rare

Here's what I need:
#30 Yoda (sr)

Any chrome base figure except:
#1 Battle Droid
#3 Wookie Scout
#6 Padme Amidala
#7 Plo Koon
#12 Clone Lieutenant
#13 Grievous Bodyguard

Ok - so here's what I have:

Common Figures
#2 Super Battle Droid (x2)
#3 Wookie Scout (X3)
#4 Clone Trooper (x1)
#5 Clone Trooper (x3)

Rare Figures
#6 Padme (x2)
#10 V-Wing Pilot (x2)
#14 Neimoidian Guard

Super Rare Figures
#15 Darth Vader
#18 Ki-Adi Mundi
#20 Shaak Ti
#21 Commander Gree
#22 Chewbacca
#25 Nute Gunray
#27 Obi-Wan

Chrome Base Variant
#1 Battledroid
#12 Clone Lieutenant

So, I'm willing to do even trades for Super Rares and Rares for the remaining figures I need. I'm also willing to consider a Super Rare to Chrome Rare or Rare to Chrome Common trade.

If you want a bunch of commons in trade for a Chrome or Super Rare that's fine too - I'm not going to hold my breath hoping that someone who is actually collecting this line is going to want them - I'll probably just save them for trade bonuses...

Drop me a PM if you want to trade.

Thanks

- Peter

The sickness continues, just got back from TRU and bought the Boga, AT-RT, another starter with free booster pack, and also got another Holo Yoda.

See - this is what is killing me right now - I'm fighting the urge to just go back to the TRU near where I work and pick up another case of the Boosters! The little OCD gremlin in my mind is like "You WANT to have all 36 pieces RIGHT NOW! Don't forget, you can get a FREE YODA!!!!"

AAAAAHHHHHH!

Well - I wasn't going to collect this line at all - in fact, I was referring to it as Acraptix all over the place.

Then my son saw them in the tent at WalMart...

Then my son saw the special offer for a free booster with a starter set.

Then Peter actually got to fiddle with them...

Now I have half of a complete set of 'em!

 :-X

Anyway, yesterday I went with my son to grab a couple more Yodas - two of 'em were for friends who didn't get them last weekend and two more were for us to open. When Matty saw that we could get a booster for free as well, that was all it took and I got a Starter set and and two booster sets to score a free Yoda. Then for the rest of the Yoda figures I bought some booster sets and the talking Yoda...

Anyway. I was surprised that I didn't get more duplicates. We got six booster packs in total and out of it we only got a duplicate Padme and then duplicates of the Battledroid and Super Battledroid. The Battledroid Dupe wasn't even that big of a deal 'cause we got a chrome base version and a regular version.

Out of the six packs we got four chrome base figures - BattleDroid, Plo Koon, Clone Lieutenant and Clonetrooper (#4).

So I guess that figures #1 - #5 are common, figures #6 - #15 are rare and then #16 - #30 are "super" rare. So that means that minimally you'll have to get 15 booster packs to score a complete set (and that's IF you don't end up with any duplicate "super" rares)...

So now I'm left with the thoughts of "WHY DID I START THIS?!?!?!"

We played a game last night and had fun with it. If I wasn't a completist I would just leave it at the 23 figures we have and be done with it, but god-damn my OCD won't let me leave it at that!

One thing I did notice (now I don't know if this is coincidence or not) - we did get a REALLY good mix of stuff:

2x BattleDroid (one Chrome base)
2x SuperBattleDroid
1x Wookie Scout (came with Starter Set)
1x Clone Trooper (w/Chrome base)
1x Clone Trooper
2x Padme Amidala
1x Plo Koon (w/Chrome base)
1x Bail Organa
1x Clone Lieutenant (w/Chrome base)
1x Grievous Bodyguard
1x Darth Vader (#16)
1x Shaak Ti
1x Commander Gree
1x Agen Kolar
1x Emperor
1x Nute Gunray
(and of course the four others that come with the Starter kit)...

Anyway, the six booster packs I bought all came from the same case - I actually bought a box of 'em - they come packed six per case, but they are in an outer box that I guess it meant to be put in a shelf for booster pack dispensing. Since I got all six from the same case, I'm guessing that the lack of Super Rare dupes could be attributed to the fact that it was all from one case -- of course it could be a complete coincidence too...

So now that I've caved on these, how long before I cave on Force Battlers? Bets anyone? That Clone Trooper in Wave 2 looks pretty cool...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart "Early Bird" Exclusive
« on: April 6, 2005, 05:57 PM »
Well - I bought two on Sat. morning - now that I've seen what these things are going to be, I just placed an order for a third set via WalMart.com - here's why

One to keep the EB Kit MIB
One to open and submit - when the figures arrive, keep them mint-in-mailerbox
One to open, submit and when the figures arrive, OPEN THEM UP!!!

I am really excited about the Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia figures!

Chewie is as I guessed he would be - he looks just like the VOTC figure except w/o the "bangs" of hair like he had in ROTJ.

R2-D2 is, I guess, the VOTC R2 except w/o the armature attachments.

I'm glad this set didn't change - I really didn't want Han in there, kinda spoils the idea of this being a re-do of the original Early Bird kit...

Cool stuff!

If they were going to have one of the four figures be a VOTC re-pack, why not just proceed with R2-D2? IMHO - that was a great figure. I don't see any reason to make another super detailed version of him.

VOTC Han would be my second choice though. My guess with regards to Chewie is that he will have the VOTC body, but a ANH style head - the Chewie mask evolved through the three OT movies and he doesn't look the same in ANH as he does say on Endor in ROTJ. So that will be good.

My guess is that Luke will have a sculpted tunic this time instead of a cloth one. As far as Leia goes, I don't know what they could do to change the VOTC version except for give her more articulation or a better head sculpt.

I would love it if they continued with the ball-jointed hip design like they used with the VOTC Luke - that would be a nice consistent addition to EVERY figure IMHO.

I found a good number of them at Midnight Madness, and got 4 of them. They're pretty cool.

Yeah - the TRU I went to for MM had gotten two cases of them in so there were a total of 12 to be had - they went VERY quick - and for good reason, it's the best small vehicle so far.

I think ultimately the Wookie Helicopter will be, but for now, the AT-RT is the best of the first three...

I put batteries in mine and it walks pretty well, it wants to pull a little to the left some times, but for the most part it works pretty good.
