Don't get me started on Anthony Michael Hall as a Starfleet Admiral.  That took me out of that scene.

That actually wasn't Anthony Michael Hall - it was Terry Serpico, or as I like to call him "Anthony Michael Hall Lite"

CBS threw him a bone after suffering two seasons on their ridiculous attempt to turn US Postal Inspectors into CSIs, on Saturday morning no less...

Disney Parks Droid Factory / Re: 2017 Droid Factory TLJ BB-unit 4-Pack

Just picked this up on the Parks App, along with the 25% off code. $27 total, so not too bad.

Is it confirmed that the BB-8 in this set is the same as the single carded Droid Factory BB-8?

Not sure if they made a running change on the single carded version or not, but my single carded version has silver highlights around the main eye that really shouldn't have been there and same goes with the secondary eye/scope (again, on the real droid it's all black).

Also, the smaller antennae on the single carded version is incorrectly silver, whereas the box set version is the correct white color.

So the Box Set version is more accurate than the single carded version.

I wasn't impressed, but then again, I'm not the huge Star Trek fan in my household - it's my wife - and she didn't like it at all. We both were wondering why so many changes to the Klingons.

So no CBS All Access for us! I'm mildly curious, so hopefully you'll be able to go back and watch the whole series when it's done - I'll try to convince her to sign up for a month at the commercial-free price of $9.99 and then we can binge-watch it like a Netflix show.

Either that or maybe we'll get lucky and just to get it in front of people, CBS will relent and let Netflix also broadcast it once it's done with the season...

Wow - Jyn Erso from Jedha. I'm speechless. There are so many variations they could have gone with, to give us EXACTLY the same thing we already got in spades from the Rogue One line is just absurd (and disappointing).

So I got these in the mail today - and wow - I'm totally shocked, I hadn't looked at any of the online photo galleries close enough, I had just assumed that the outer shell part of the droids' bodies were all the same - nope - BB-9E is completely unique, while 2BB-2 & BB-4 do share the same body shell, but they have unique "domes".

Additionally, BB-8 and BB-4 share the same weighted ball sculpt, where 2BB-2 and BB-9E have a new unique weighted ball sculpt.

So basically, in the BB-Unit Droid Factory line, we now have the following unique parts:
2 Different Weighted Interior "cores"
3 Different Top & Bottom Exterior "shells"
4 Different BB Unit "domes"

So A LOT more variation than I originally thought there would be.

Disney Parks Droid Factory / Re: 2017 Droid Factory C1-10P "Chopper"
« on: September 21, 2017, 12:27 PM »
Would have been nice to get a Rebels 4-pack - Imperial Chopper repaint with maybe R2-D2, R3-A3 (from Sato's group), and BG-18 (from the Mon Cal who made the B-Wing).

But then someone at Disney would have had to give Rebels more than 5 minutes of attention over the past 4 years. :P

Give it time. It took them 19 months to get a Droid Factory BB-8 out and they just released the "standard" Chopper at SWCO this past April. Not to mention the fact that we also got a Clone Wars 4-pack at SWCO too.

This has been one of the more ambitious years for Droid Factory:
  • R5-013/R2-C2/R5-S9/R5-P8 - Clone Wars 4-pack (SWCO)
  • C1-10P "CHOPPER" (SWCO)
  • R2-D2 / C-3PO 40th Anniversary 2-pack (SWCO)
  • R-3D0 (SWCO)
  • R5-D23 Exclusive
  • R3-B0017
  • BB-8
  • BB-8/2BB-2/BB-4/BB-9E - The Last Jedi 4-pack
  • R4-X2/Y5-X2 - Force Friday II/The Last Jedi 2-pack
  • R3-H17
  • 21 New Protocol Droid Heads along with the corresponding arms, legs & torsos

Before 2017, there are had only been 7 carded figures, two box sets and the two waves of Astromechs all spread out from 2012 through 2016!

To put that in perspective, once R3-H17 is released that will mean SIX carded Droid Factory figures for 2017, plus two 2-packs (which are new in 2017) and two 4-pack box sets (of which we got one in 2015 and one 2016).

I'm finding the opposite. In fact, I have no problem finding Luke and Rey from the 3.75" line either. And it doesn't hurt that the Rey/Praetorian Guard 2-pack is plentiful as well, so any kid looking to get Rey from the new movie shouldn't be having any problem at all. So from an optics stand-point - Hasbro did something RIGHT for once.

The only figure that I don't see much of anymore is Paige - and that's probably due to the fact that in the later cases of the Teal assortment she's been dropped to make room for Obi-Wan and Yoda - both of whom I'm seeing more and more of.

I may not have seen what you're talking about - but Mark Hamill did walk around Hollywood Boulevard back in 2015 before TFA came out as part of the "Force for Change" campaign.

Has anyone tried to see if the head from the Rey/Guard two pack fits on the Walmart 3.75" SA body?

I have heard you can swap them pretty easy, but I don't have the SA version yet to verify that... :-\

Interesting - so that might mean that when we do get a TVC Praetorian Guard, there's a good chance that it will come with one of the two other helmet designs...

As soon as I get two TBS 3.75" Praetorian Guards, I'm doing a head-swap with the one that came with Rey.

Plus the Walmart Black Series one...

Yeah, three 5POA versions and the Walmart 3.75" one, which is a super-articulated version of the Playset's 'with Single Blade" version.

Has anyone tried to see if the head from the Rey/Guard two pack fits on the Walmart 3.75" SA body?

Still definitely seems on for May, though. Hasbro mentioned it in one or two of the Q&A's from Hascon.

And that right there is the reason why they aren't going to move the Han Solo movie.

Too much is "in the works" from a merchandising standpoint to pump the brakes by 7 months.

When you combine the limitations and ability to quickly adjust that Hasbro has to deal with with the identical/similar limitations and ability to quickly adjust that Lego has to deal with - any move in the release date of the Han Solo movie would throw off all Spring 2018 merchandising plans.

I'm trying to say this in the way I'm thinking of it for myself and not coming off as questioning other's collecting decisions (I hate when people do that).

I can't ever imagine being at a point where I'd rather have random droids over brand new characters from the movies. Even if they are 5 POA.

To each their own.

You know what Nick? That's exactly what's keeping me "in the game" - the idea that, "hey that character was entertaining or has a cool design, if they never do them again, I will have totally missed out" - like Saw Gerrera from Rogue One - that 5POA figure as far as something that stands on a shelf, looks AMAZING - would I have preferred to get a SA Saw in the WM TBS 3.75" line of course! I'll settle for the 5POA one though.

Yeah I'd guess that joke is for when these become buildable in the parks and the hats go there or other potential plug ins.  I'm fine either way.  Droid factory is still one of my favorite things in modern Star Wars collecting.  Don't have any protocol droids yet but I hope to get them all.

It has become the favorite part of my collection. I have been contemplating lately the idea of scaling back to just BAD and Vintage Collection.

Bummer.  :-\

I didn't realize the protocol droid parts weren't compatible with the astromechs too.  Weren't all Hasbro's BAD parts compatible regardless of how stupid it looked?  Go figure that Disney didn't do it.

To a degree, I believe so. I can experiment more tonight if folks want. But for example, I can put protocol droid arms & legs in the holes on an Astromech torso, but a protocol droid head doesn't fit into the socket of an astromech where the dome goes and an astromech dome would be loose/easily fall out of you tried to put one onto a protocol droid torso.

For simplicity, I'm referring to any droid that has a torso, two arms, two legs and a head as a "protocol" droid.

The BAD BB units do consist of four parts, but three of those four parts are the weighted ball and the two halves of the outer "shell" of the droid. It's not like you can take half of the outer shell and use it with parts from another type of droid and cobble something together.

The BB-8 head/dome does have a socket on the top - I figured it was for one of those silly hats that Disney BADs come with can be inserted - I haven't tried one yet though.

One thing that is interesting about the BB-unit 4-pack is that while the bodies are all the same just with different paint ops - the heads/domes are all unique. So I can definitely see this as Disney's way of eventually transitioning to having build stations where you can build BB unit droids as well.

I'm waiting to see pics on whether you can stick BB-8's head on existing BAD R-units or 3PO sculpts.  A Protocol Droid with BB head might be a nice 'junk' droid for dio filler.

I have Chopper, R2, C3PO and BB-8 on my desk and I just tried some head swaps - and the protocol droid head peg is too big to fit on the astromech body. The Chopper & R2 domes were interchangeable like I would have expected, but the BB-8 dome peg is smaller in diameter and therefore fits loosely on the astromech and protocol droid bodies.
